Just like in Mario & Luigi, where you perform tricky Bros. Attacks to dish out maximum damage, in our game, you get to use Duo Attacks, which serve the same purpose! Here's a showcase of the first one you receive in the game, aptly named Ace Serve.

Hunter Chronicles: Tara and Vyn is an indie game inspired by the Mario and Luigi series - primarily developed by me and MaxLos. It's battle system is heavily based off those games, with you controlling two characters at the same time, and timing action commands in tune with their attacks.

This brings back what I liked about the Superstar saga bros attacks, that being instead of this just being “some item they attack with” it’s them using skills they know in tandem to do even stronger attacks.

Our game will have a mix of both! Some attacks will be done with items, and some will be related to the overworld skills you acquire, like this one!

@@whybother5741 yup! In this game, you'll be able to upgrade your duo attacks with materials gathered from enemies and/or money, and the upgraded versions will essentially work like the advanced moves in superstar saga - more inputs, but bigger damage, and some even being infinite.

@@animalrpgdev I literally just got here so I'm not in too much of a place to comment on your design decisions, but I'd definitely caution against infinite moves unless you have your balance down to a t, there's a reason Magic Window was nerfed after all. This does look great though, definitely hoping to see more.

@@A_Fren the infinite moves are planned to scale down in damage the more they go on, as well as having the timing getting increasingly tougher - they won't be as OP as the magic window for sure, dw haha

Yup! It's a placeholder for now, not sure if it'll get replaced for the demo but it will have to for the full game to avoid copyright troubles haha Also, thank you!

@animalrpgdev also, a minor nitpick admittedly, but in the jumping animations, the legs for both PCs look really stiff......

@@cmanhanks1 yeah, i agree. The sprites that are used for the demo we're currently making are quite old, so they don't represent how the characters will look in the final game - in fact, i'm currently working on new animations and sprites that will look much better, so don't worry!

I know of two: Stellar Bonds and Star Journey! Ours isn't a fangame as much as it's an indie game taking heavy liberties from the m&l gameplay formula.
