As mentioned before, Hold Hold Hold, look at the energy transfer into the rest and table during each shot, thats why the hand under the rifle is important

As said below, you need to let the gun recoil naturally backwards. Resting the fore end on something solid will throw your groupings all over the place. I find the best groupings with mine, is by placing the fore end on me upturned clenched fist, as that's the way I shoot prone while touching the peg. Wishing you well in your HFT comps.

I shoot a 97 and if i shoot it rested as you have it goes all over the place... rest it on my hand its a different ball game like a lazer....try baracudas or jts dead center as mine seems to like them....all the best

Me too! I use a sandbag for my HW100 sometimes, if I want to make it even more accurate and boring, but if I try to use the bag with the 97 the shots are everywhere. Then I just hold the gun rested on my knee or whatever, and the accuracy and consistency is back! I actually came on here to post this very thing!

now not that i am an expert but what i did notice and it’s exactly because i used to do it (again no criticism just an observation) you pull the trigger and let go almost immediately what i found works for me if i pull the trigger and don’t let go until i see the pellet hit the target . for me personally i found i got a lot less of those wondering shots not off by a mike but those ones were you think i am sure that was bang on . as for hft shooting range finding and shooting in the wind mate is the hardest issues to face well unsupported kneels and standers are also a challenge 🤣🤣🤣 . its funny but today i was down the range practicing my trigger control as in follow through and had some pretty outstanding results . like i say it may not be for you but it definitely made a difference for me just that split second that i held that trigger back after i take the shot

Look at this logically you’re using arguably the most accurate spring rifle ever made and tried loads of different pellets and the groups are horrendous! Your hold and rest is perfect for a PCP however springers are a completely different kettle of fish please use the artillery hold you’ll amaze yourself.

Fully agree. The barrel is visibly lifting. A springer needs to recoil rearwards in order to get the best out of what is an amazing rifle.

As already mentioned,change the rest and shoot from off your hand and if possible practice how you will have to hold and shoot a hft competition. Then re do your pellet test.

A few years ago a Good Friend and Myself used filming our technique whilst training as County/ Country Archers it was invaluable and tiny but significant mistakes were shown in the footage. Looking forward to following your journey Mark. PS. I Remember with my old 77k no matter what I tried I always went back to Eley Wasp 5.5's (They also did 5.6 Brit .22 back in the day) simpler times maybe.

I test around 120 different brands and weights of pellets and the variation in groups can be quite significant. Some rifles may only have tight gourps with 5 or 6 different pellets types out of 120 and other rifles may be far less pellet fussy.

TBF those are all pretty poor grouping, the Weihrauch isn't that pellet fussy. You'll be holding and shooting completely differently in the field and would suggest maybe trying that next time and see if the grouping is any better?

Shooting with cold hands ain't easy, i can't help thinking your rest wobbles around and your rifle is gripping the foam and could be battling with the unstable rest on recoil? All the best on your journey 💪👍 PS i won't mention the unstable platform any more😅

Not sure you mentioned the range. If it's about 30yrds then those groups don't look very good. Should be close to a ragged one hole 20p piece size assuming no wind in that comfy shooting position. When you do HFT it won't be that easy as you'll be in various positions which ain't easy with a springer. You'll def' benefit with a hamster. You can fit one using 10mm inserts and they won't spoil the stock.

may I suggest if you're double grouping with your pellets but still on almost the same elevation you are more than likely canting your gun , i use a scope cant bubble level on my hw95k .177 and it makes all the difference, and believe me the hw95 k is much harder gun to shoot , hold sensitive is an understatement . where as my hw97k .22 will shoot pretty much anything I put in it , jsb exact , express , aa field , fx , accupell and even Bisley practise flat nose , all will give me 5p groupings at 25 meters . I also shoot with both eyes open , obviously my main focus is down the scope but I find it help stopping the occasional flinch when the shot is fired 👍🏻

Just an observation. H&N FTT 5.53 are my .22 HW95 go to. Weihrauch FTT are also OK, they are a H&N FTT with a extra small band between the head and skirt. Today +1C the weihrauch pellets out classed my preferred H&N FTT @ 45M ??? "Dont ask I dont know why" Also try 5.52 and 5.54 there will be a slight difference. BTW I only shoot .22, your a Brave Man ;-) GUESING those holdover distances ! I salute you sir for trying.

As a “newbie” to HFT an AA TX 200 in .177 may have been a better choice.’ Is the 77 run in? Why .22? I always thought you did rush shots on previous videos , but thought that was to speed things up for the video? Resting a springer is a big no-no you’re absolutely totally wasting your time pellet testing doing that, that’s why there’s no conclusive results! You need to master the artillery hold, with left hand cupped under the forend in the identical place each shot - grip is critical. You need to test as you would mainly shoot in competition! Up the peg prone? Seated etc? Go running to get fit and reduce heart rate, wear a heart rate monitor on your wrist watch Small objective ie 32 mm 8-10x fixed mag is the best scope choice. Weighing pellets would be of benefit too. When pellet testing I’ve always used at least 50, and barrel cleaned between different choices, 5 is no good! There’ll be too much lead from the previous pellets in the bore.

With a springer the very small recoil could effect the height as you are resting the stock on the change in thickness which may be on a slightly different place on some of the shots Try placing it on the level part of stock to see if it improves

My advice to you would be shoot holding onto a post in a prone position so you get used to zeroing from that position. Secondly using a .22 really is making life difficult for yourself. The flattest trajectory is the best for your aimpoint spread. Best of luck!

Interesting. I took two guns onto my garden range and got similar groupings to you. Could it be anything to do with weather/humidity?. I gave up and decided to try another day.
@theGunLocker
@theGunLocker 6 ай бұрын
I do struggle with the cold...need to man up! Sometimes it just doesn't flow right and today was one of those days but it's important to keep it real. Saying that, cold and humidity will have an affect... especially when we're looking at thousands of a millimeter deviation at muzzle making all the difference at distance

Just a Hint to try. Try it and see if it works in yours. I have seven HW rifles although they are all FAC so is it the same for 12 rule, dunno worth a try though. Try the 11.75 GTO non lead pellet, forget all the rumors and urban tales and give them a try. Another one is the H and N FTT in 5.53 or 5.54 head size, one of those will work well, never had a HW shoot 5.55 well. Cheers Kit

The set up is totally wrong for a spring gun
@christighe3203
@christighe3203 25 күн бұрын
Your technique is totally wrong, those guns are as accurate as any pcp in the right hands. Firstly hold, you are not holding the front end at all, Spring guns need a gentle hold back and front and the same hold every shot. You are also snatching at the trigger and not holding for the follow through. As for pellet choice the 77 is not really pellet fussy as long as you use good grade pellets.
