Most rain-sensing devices work by accumulating a set amount of rainfall before a switch is activated that interrupts the circuit from the controller and shuts off the system. In that “accumulation time”, the system will unnecessarily continue to water. This can look especially bad for conservation-conscious municipalities, businesses, and residences. With built-in Quick Response technology, the Hunter Rain-Clik and Wireless Rain-Clik can command a controller to shut off right when it starts to rain. The Rain-Clik can be mounted on an eave or any flat vertical surface like a wall or fence. A gutter mount is also available that allows for easy installation of the Rain-Clik on the edge of a gutter.

Regarding wiring: Do the two yellow wires connect to the 24-volt terminals ALONG WITH the leads that come from the transformer? I have a Hunter Pro-6 control box.

For this rain sensor connecting to hunter hc2400 controller, what is the proper wire setup for the white and blue wires?

Hello Shenanigans! I’m a 7 and I encourage shenanigans!!! After looking into this, it appears you can use either normally open, or, normally closed wires and then configure it in the app. I’ve included the instructions for you. -Andy www.hunterindustries.com/sites/default/files/rc-005-qg-prohc-en-web.pdf

Can you use this on a battery operated timer?
@Andy_Humphrey
@Andy_Humphrey Ай бұрын
Yes, maybe, it depends on the specific timer. Check to see if your timer has a "sensor" input. If it does, then you can use this. Remember that you will need to power the receiver with 24vAC which may or may not be possible at your location. If it is not possible then I would recommend a wired rain sensor because it does not require a power source.

Hi Hoson. Depending on the environmental conditions and the settings on the sensor 48hrs is not uncommon. If you feel it needs water right away, you can bypass the sensor to allow it to water.

My status lights are not on. Is the orange wire suppose to be connected and if so, to which terminal?
@Andy_Humphrey
@Andy_Humphrey Жыл бұрын
Hi Patty. The correct wire should be blue and white, for almost all controllers, unless you have a very old timer. If this is a brand new sensor, you may have to pair the rain sensor to it, by pressing and holding the spindle on the rain sensor for 5 seconds until you see the green status light. If this is an existing rain sensor, the batteries may have failed, or the rain sensor may be have become disconnected from the receiver. Eva want to retrieve the rain sensor from its location and troubleshoot from there. Feel free to contact us directly if we can help you further.

Does the corks dry out to my the transmitter unusable? I just replace my transmitter because it wasn’t working with my existing receiver or was for whatever reason not turning off my sprinklers during a rain event here in Florida. So I synched the new transmitter to my old receiver. Now I wait I guess. I was able to hold the button down on my old transmitter to engage the receiver manually. But rain wouldn’t do it for some reason
@Andy_Humphrey
@Andy_Humphrey 4 ай бұрын
Yes, it is possible the discs may be worn out, but they generally last a very long time. If holding the button down was successful then the unit is transmitting correctly. You could try pouring water directly over it. Also, check that the rain volume settings are not too high.

Is the plunger supposed to stay down when wet ?
@Andy_Humphrey
@Andy_Humphrey Жыл бұрын
Good question. I don’t know the answer 100%, but I assume yes. The bottom of the plunger (pin) is what makes contact and interrupts the circuit. When the discs swell it likely forces the plunger down.

Good morning. My BHyve will not run as programmed with a Hunter wireless rain sensor attached. The system is always "suspended because of a Rain Sensor" and K have found no way to override this I have had the water company professional come out twice to assume that the rain sensor is properly working and he believes I won't be able to use this rain sensor. Is there a different wiring configuration that we can try?
@Andy_Humphrey
@Andy_Humphrey 2 жыл бұрын
The first step is to isolate the problem. Is it a controller issue, or a sensor wiring issue. I recommend removing the sensor wires and placing a jumper wire between the sensor terminals (a paper clip will work). This is the “default” setup of the controller and it should not be suspended. If it’s still suspended something is wrong with the controller. If the controller is good, the next step is to troubleshoot the sensor. Double check the wiring and be sure you are using the “normally closed” setup. It is possible the sensor was installed using the “normally open” configuration which would cause the system to be permanently suspended. I probably should’ve recommended you check this first.. If you need help please call us and we’ll walk you through it.

Hahahaha. Good chance it is gone! You can remove the receiver and place a jumper wire between the terminals (a paper clip will work) if you're tired of using the bypass mode. Sounds like a good time to replace it!

@Andy_Humphrey

PRO-HC is confusing, you can actually use either wire. Most controllers are Normally Closed, PRO-HC can be either. Blue = Normally Closed Circuit (SEN-1) OR (not both) Orange = Normally Open Circuit (SEN-2)

Hi There! Just purchased exactly the same wr rain sensor trying to connect it to an XC4 irrigation controller. I 've done the wiring as per your instructions - 2x yellow to 24v power, blue and white to SEN - orange left unconnected. Receiver seems to be paired with sensor as it behaved as per the guidelines - plugged was having the red light - pushed the black button on top of rain sensor - receiver turned green. My problem is though - the irrigation controller always shows OFF and the umbrella! So as soon as I swithc SENSOR ACTIVE on the controller it shows the OFF with the Umbrella (regardless if sensor is wet or dry). Sensor works well as the receiver turns red after rain and turns back to green as dried out. Soo annoying that can't use the rain sensor due to this issue. Tried everything - unplugged the controller - de & re attached the wireless receivers cables - plugged it again , tried resetting the controller but nothing. Any advise? 😊 As soon as swithcing controller to SENSOR BYPASS - umbrella dissapears and all works BAU 🤷🏼‍♂️

After 10 years of working the old transmitter battery died. Hunter sent me a replacement. The transmitter light blinks red when tested. When I try to address the new transmitter using the method from the manual, unplugging power to the receiver, holding button on receiver, applying power back, there is NO YELLOW lights like the manual says it just turns the bottom light red. No connection. I don't know what to do now.

Sounds frustrating; technology is great, when it works.. Retrace your steps, making sure to press/hold the Bypass button, then applying power. Also try to see, if by chance, it’s paired. Hold the spindle on the transmitter and see it will trip the receiver. Last option, buy a new receiver.

@@Andy_Humphrey So I held down the bypass button on receiver. Plug back in and I never got any yellow lights. Multiple attempts. Just a red light. I went inside for a bit, to post on your channel, also tried to see if my old RainCLK never had a yellow light. Came back to make sure all sensor input wires connected and the units were paired. Green light! Thanks for the video.

The battery on the sensor is a non replaceable internal battery. There's a 10 year warranty on the battery in the sensor, so if you end up with a unit that fails in that period of time you would be eligible for a warranty replacement.

Attention everyone. Few realise how crappy their wifi routers work in a neighborhood surrounded by others all competing for the same wifi bandwidth. Plus most wifi routers are factory defaulted to 'AUTO' wifi channel selection, resulting in channel mobbing & mob reselecting next channel. Every time your wifi router changes channels there is about a 7-15 second wifi outage while it reconnects. There are 2 options: set your wifi router to not 'AUTO' & manually pick a least used channel & stay there; or use wired devices to bypass wifi altogether. Don't blame your device or your ISP for your own lack of wifi channel management. Its up to you.
