@@NRush2009 I dunno...I try to keep my interactions with the police to a minimum and I am not a criminal seeking to avoid detection. Either way, I'm glad you replied and I will treat you with respect. Not because you're a cop but, because you're a person who has done me no wrong. Watching this show as a ten year old kid in the 80s, the message conveyed in this show (and others like it) went over my head. I just wanted to see the action. Watching the first episode of this series now, the message is very clear. The "good guy" is the cop who blasts the criminals first and then asks questions. The antagonist is the police captain who insists on warning shots and psychological evaluation of all his officers. This guy is presented as the show's real villain. The uptight, office dwelling boss who hasn't got a clue what really goes on out there. In reality however, although the character of the chief is played as that of a rancid little asshole, does this character not actually present worthy values: restraint and regular evaluation of psychological well being those officers he's in charge of? My question to you is in reality this, with the advancing knowledge of sociological issues, mental illness, addictions and various human complexities all of which cops are also impacted by, has the black and white world of fictional TV writing really reflected the values of policing or has this fiction been allowed to influence the public's idea of what policing should be and in turn the cops who are now emulating this black and white view and value system in both training and delivery? I'd be genuinely interested to read your thoughts.

I tend to agree with you Samuel. McCall had real style, class, and beauty. UK version of this was Dempsey and Makepeace. It wasn't half as good as Hunter.
