I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw these two episodes. It is mind boggling to think that such places even exist. Talk about being rewarded after that cumbersome trek up the jungle hillside. This place is like the Jurassic Park Island of Sitka black tails. So incredibly cool!

This is one of my all time favorite episodes of Fresh Tracks. Actually, it's one of my all time favorite episodes of outdoor television. Sitka Blacktail are one of our continents greatest game animals. Randy Newberg is one of our country's leading conservationists, and Jim is a great personality. Nobody looks the part of a traditional muzzleloader hunter more than Jim.

I know where you are. That peak over is where my dad brought me to get my first buck. I took a forking horn. Just to make sure I could make a pack out of it and carry it. It’s been to the taxidermist and it’s now on my grandpas wall. I see that plane every time I go to school. 🙂

This was one of the most singular hunts I have seen on film. The location, personalities, animals, and the use of the muzzleloader was just perfect. This is the way that hunting shows should be put together.

That is very kind of you to say. I hope that we continue to provide a message people find worthwhile. We have our failures and our struggles, but we give it an honest effort. In the end, no matter the outcome, we hope we have a story people can relate to. Best of luck this season. I hope you and your sons have many great days afield.

I came here after watching the 2 part episode where Jim was able to get his big pronghorn buck with Ole Faithful, no matter how many times you jokingly invited him to do the Howa Handshake with the 7mm-08. lol .... I can definitely see why Alaska is a bucket list state for sportsmen and women whether it be for hunting or fishing or both. God creates some beautiful things and places.

Randy Newberg, Hunter Thank you man. Down in SC right now. Brown bear is the goal. My issue is costs. Deciding between $5,000-$20,000. If I could get a local like your friend and bring my own boat, could save a lot of money.

That is high on my list. I have 11 points, after buying another point this year. I will be down hunting OTC archery in January. Mostly thinking of a mule deer, given how hard it would be for me and one or two camera guys to get within archery range of a Coues. Good luck this season.

Sir, was Jim using a Barney's pack? If so, what are your thoughts on Jim's pack? I lived in AK for a few years, but was never able to see a Barney's pack in person. I would enjoy hearing your thoughts on Jim's pack. Thank you!
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 8 жыл бұрын
Yes it was. It works for him, but it is not what I would use. I looked it over, as I had heard about them, also. I like the modular style of my Mystery Ranch, as it converts form a day pack to a heavy load hauler. Jim's pack seemed very hard to use as a day pack, but I might not have all the details of how it can be used.
@BlueDuck97ACR
@BlueDuck97ACR 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks much! I'm researching and trying to make up my mind with regard to a good multi day hunting pack/load hauler. Barney's packs seem to be really popular in AK. I certainly appreciate your feedback. And thanks for sharing your hunting experiences!
