Hunting Bow Review: Hoyt Carbon Defiant

Hoyt was nice enough to send over a Carbon Defiant test bow as part of ArcheryTalk's 2017 Hunting Bow Project. This bow was set up with a QAD Ultra Rest, Bee Stinger Counterslide stabilizer, Trophy Ridge React H5 five-pin sight and ¼-inch peep sight.
This was my first opportunity to spend some real time with a carbon bow, so I was excited for the opportunity.
The Carbon Defiant has an axle-to-axle length of 31 inches, brace height of 7 inches, ATA rated speed of 331 feet per second and mass weight of 3.6 pounds. This bow has an MSRP of $1,449.
I am shooting this bow with a draw length of 29 ½ inches and draw weight of 60 pounds. My test bow is dressed in Buckskin with a textured, slip-resistant finish on the riser.
Fit and finish is top notch. The textured finish can flatten in areas they get a lot of wear, but you have to look pretty hard to see any scratches. The string, cables and serving are in remarkably shape, which is impressive considering I think this was a demo bow before I got my hands on it.

Can it be adjusted down to say 55lbs I want to give my old carbon defiant to my brother but he can pull about 55 I heard lowest I should go on this hoyt should be no less than 60lb?

Shed Squatch This was a 60-pound max bow, so it could go down to 50. Generally speaking, you can take 10 pounds off the max poundage.

Hoyt bows generally allow for 8 full turns of adjustment.

How do you use a drop away rest like a qad or ripcord with a 4 fletch arrow?? Interested on how that works.

The rest should drop long before the fletchings pass over the it. I've not tested this with a super slow motion camera (I don't have access to one), but I haven't had any trouble with fletching contact on the rest on any of the drop aways I've tested.

songer121 I use a 6 fletch on a drop away and it works fine
