Do you expect him to personally guide you to his hunting ground too, or just hand you gps coords and hope they aren’t scrambled being too close to the naval jamming at pyramid lake? Go on mindat and search for amethysts, stay off other people’s claims, and good luck.

I was wondering also, so I scrolled down all the posts and I found someone that answered the question. It's at Petersen Mountain in Washoe County, Nevada. Not in California at all, just near the border.

It’s I trip that I found this! We put ads out on Craigslist but we get nothing but “sane Crystal ladies” replying! We’ve been looking to fill our “crazy Crystal lady that spins fire” position at our mountain parties in Southern California for months! 🎉Hmu!

Im so glad! biggest lessons : bring friends and two vehicles in case you get stuck. alot of these places are way out there. also join you local gem club. theres a bunch of them. they go on trips all the time to places that will have gems and minerals. these videos make it look really easy, its quite difficult! happy gem hunting! nothing like it!

My boyfriend and I went hunting for geodes a bit off path and we’re on day 3 of picking the tics off of us and our dog. But thank you so much for the reply! It's everywhere. There is so much of this stuff people make ashtrays out of it. What you really want is Gold. It's there too. Those guys are skipping the gold because these crystals are easy to find and less work. You don't know if this amethysts is clear and has inclusions. You can see that it is mostly white with just a little purple in the tips, which is not the high quality type. Look how cloudy it is and look how the color it not uniform. High valued amethyst is clear and one solid deep purple color. And these guys are getting so excited. lol Some Gem experts please let me know if I am wrong about this. If you could make huge profits from this stuff, there would be a mining company protecting the site with fences and guards and be working it 24 hours a day. What did they show at the end of the video? a DJ? Most rockhound videos show a full shot of the days haul. But if you want to spend a day or two looking for these rocks, they are still nice to look at and put on the coffee table. Here are some clues for you... Quartz Hill, Barstow, Panamint Valley, Garlock, Rosamond, Silver Queen Mine, Boron, Ransburg. These are just some parts of North L.A. and West Kern counties that I know personally. There are many more places to get good gems of different kinds all over the World. Join a prospecting club and you will get more information than you can use. They will take you to their claims.

I live in East Sonora. A buddy of mine found a couple of clusters years ago up near Kennedy Meadows. They are lighter colored than that, like almost pink colored. In other trips up there he said he only found bits and pieces. There are small white and pale yellow crystals and tiny quartz crystals layered with different minerals at the Cataract Quarry on Camp 9 Rd. in Calaveras County. All of it is fragile. If you go there, be warned though. People go there for target practice. You never know where they are going to set up and which direction they will be shooting. Technically, it was shut down for shooting by the county because a rancher who runs cattle back there had 2 of his cow critters shot. But some people still go there. We used to go there at least once a month and burn through some ammo. According to a buddy of mine who used to work for Calaveras County, that whole area is still owned by Heidelberg Cement, so technically, you could be cited for trespassing if some deputy is feeling froggy that day.

My ex’s family has an old gold mine basically in their backyard.. makes me wanna go look but it’s always super hot and I don’t do snakes lol

Yeah.....I've only ever seen one other person there. Fortunately the road is a beast so it keeps a lot of people out. Love this spot and yes the weather station does give it away. Was there back in November 2019.

not just anywhere. theres lots of old books and info on the internet about where you can find gems and crystals. its best to go with a group and ideally have a offroad vehicle. If I was you, I would join your local gem and mineral club. super nerdy but super cool!! they'll be able to tell you best places to go nearby.
