Anton, so young but so mature for his age! Seems like he's a great person, and a great hunter attitude and character... Matt, your shooting is fantabulous! Been following your videos for a hell of a long time my friend, I remember your first hunts with the AA air rifle. You seem to be in heaven, is the way I see it... I mean living in South Africa, and to be able to hunt all kinds of game, from small game to large game, AND helping out the farmers in their quest as well! Wonderful healthy wild eats to treat yourself to, dear lord, what else can one want?! Stay safe :-)

Hello sir I want to say congratulations on the great hunt but I wanted to correct you on one thing that you said about in the United States about just taking the backstraps and the trophy and leaving the rest. In the united states we are required to take every edible other than organs out if you leave the meat it is called want and waste and you can loose you hunting license for many years. Most states have a program that if you only want the trophy you are able to donate the meat to homeless shelters. Sorry to rant but I didn't want people to think wrongly of hunters in the United States.

I think it’s important to note no one I know here on the US would take the trophy and back straps and leave the rest. What we would do here, lacking the number of people to help carry out the meat, is gut, skin, and quarter or bone-out the meat. Then we carry out the meat, leaving the hide and horns/antlers for the last trip. As far as I know, all states in the US have strict laws about “wanton waste” of edible game meat.
@peterv1318
@peterv1318 2 жыл бұрын
It’s federal laws about it. But most states take it farther on prosecuting the person. Like Alaska you most likely will get jail time and lose your gun rights for 10 years or all together depending on the charges.

Even "trophy hunters" mostly eat their kills or donate the meat. Don't know where people are getting the idea that isn't the case, or that there are all that many trophy hunters either. Most hunters I have ever met, and that is a LOT, are mostly out to fill their freezers with better meat than you can find in a grocery store.

@Hugo Adrian Wilkins. I find it interesting how different cultures choose which animals should be eaten or not. You are correct that most North Americans are horrified and disgusted by the idea of eating horse and yet happily gobble down cows which are often considered sacred in India. The scary part is that these beliefs are sometimes so strong that perceived violators can be at risk of legal or even physical harm.

It is easy to see the damage the zebras are doing to the range. Their front teeth cut the vegitation so short that if they are over populated, other animals will not be able to eat. Too bad it is so hard to get people to understand why the numbers have to be controlled.
@fransiapotiente6618
@fransiapotiente6618 4 жыл бұрын
Philip Patton I can understand the control but I can’t understand why to be killed. Find a different way to control it. For example move some population or something else. I am a hunter too but I try to respect nature and animals. What animal will be next? Elephants maybe? And don’t forget, the humans invaded to their home. Sorry guys but for me is a big thump down
@bryanobrien2726
@bryanobrien2726 3 жыл бұрын
The fewer natural predators , the more humans must do the job . At some point there will be no room for large predators in the wild and humans will have to maintain animal populations exclusively . There is a “field dressing” technique for those birds that only takes a second and then you can send them in to the kitchen somewhat clean for further process while you continue to hunt. Pull the breast out, cut the wings off, skin and feathers, and drop in the water.

Matt, I have to chuckle a bit over your dove hunting. Back in the day, like the late 70's, we used to field about 30-40 hunters during dove season here in Arizona, and (the statute of limitations is run out) we'd take a limit of mourning and white wing in the morning, come home, clean 'em, take a nap, then go out in the afternoon and take another limit. Limits back then were 10 mourning and 10 white wing, so a =lot= of birds. My neighbor, who hosted the hunt, would put on a big feed the last night (3 days, sometimes 4) that the "crew" was in town, and we'd grill up 300-400 dove and chow down. Guys would still go home with 100-200 birds in their coolers. Cool thing was, we'd only have to drive 3-4 miles out of town to shoot like this. Now, it's about a 40 mile drive... :-(
