Glad you've enjoyed Rock in Rio my guy! A lot of people call it their best thing they've ever done/released and it's hard to argue with that. I'm really really excited for you to get onto Dance of Death! I think a lot of the songs on the album are overlooked, apart from 2 or 3 of them, but personally it's my favourite of the post reunion content. Keep it up my guy!

Adrian and Steve are doing the back vocals. Smith has an amazing vocal as well. Did you ever listened to any of his other stuff like ASAP, Urchin (his early years) or his late cooperation with Kotzen? They are also great though much softer. Have a great day.

Hurm, check out Beast over Hammersmith from 1982. I believe it was Bruce's first live performance with Maiden and it is absolutely incredible.

I was there "Rock in Rio" travelled from the UK (their home country) it was not easy but once we got there it was magic! Once the Brazilians found out about us they kind of made a tunnel for us to be at the front so we could lift up the crowd (not that they needed to) but hey that's what happened Great times from my youth.

Hi Hurm1t, onto Dance of Death, an album which I seem to like more than most Maiden fans. Besides the title track and Paschendale which are usually mentioned, has some grossly underrated gems like Montsegur and closer Journeyman. I think you’ll appreciate it 🤘

This was an iconic performance. It’s like Maiden launched with a generation of the 80s, Live After Death raising the word to the generation. Rock in Rio not only relaunched Maiden for existing fans but a new generation too in the 2000s.

Maiden England 1988 & Maiden Japan 1981 is must..

Have not listened to this concert for awhile, other than a song here and there, until Hurm has done the whole thing. This 2001 concert was a great concert ranks up there with Live After Death for me. Ok Hurm, time to Run to the Hills. Now, on to Dance of Death.

You should check out Iron Maidens video for "Women in Uniform", there's also a beauty called "The Sheriff of Huddersfield" and a cracker of a behind the scenes argument secretly recorded by bruce, main complainer being Nico called "Mission from 'Arry", you won't be disappointed, thare are others like "Reach Out" with Adrian doing lead vocals, and let's not forget "Black bart Blues", all very enjoyable and surprising. All from the 80's.

6:35 - 6:37 - Best headline ever. 😂 A steadium full of people freakin' out... What a view. 😃 And the backup vocals of Steve Harris are absolutely exceptional, for usually Adrian Smith does that (e.g. "Somewhere in time"). So, all of them gave a 150 %.

I prefer the video of their live performance in 82 or sometime in the 80's when singer hits the HIGH F in the middle after the guitar solo and bassist doing his sick playing and then again hits it at the END but anyways good video and don't let PENGUIN give you any grief BATMAN!!

Next is Dance of death,not as good as Brave New World but still a really good one with some gems like "paschendale" "no more lies" "montségur" or the title track. Some of the songs are overlooked IMO

You know Steve Harris as one of the best bass player ever, you know him as founder of Iron Maiden, as songwriter and as the guy who sings along all lyrics of each and every song, right..so, here are some more Infos bout Steve you might not know. To show you how much 'Iron Maiden' Steve really is. In addition to playing bass and writing music/lyrics for the band, Steve Harris has taken on numerous other roles, such as: Music production/mixing music. Video directing/editing. Live video directing/ editing. Keyboards, backing vocalsstring/bass synthesizers. Steve Harris is also known for playing an increasing role in mixing the band's albums and produced most of their 1990's output, with recording taking place at a studio he owned at the time, located in a barn on his property, named "Barnyard Studios" Harris also directs and edits many of the band's live videos, beginning with Maiden England in 1989. Although not intending to himself, Harris edited the Rock in Rio DVD as he was unsatisfied with the results produced by the band's hired production crew. In undertaking the project, Harris had to teach himself how to use digital editing software with equipment he had installed in Barnyard Studios, and went on to edit Iron Maiden's next DVD, Death on the Road. On top of this, he has contributed to the production of thirteen of the band's music videos, with "Infinite Dreams", "Holy Smoke", "Tailgunner" and "Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter" being directed and edited by Harris alone. Hurm1t there is a documentary on KZfaq it’s called Death On The Road Tour it’s got Maiden talking about the album and how they recorded the album in the studio with Kevin Shirley and it shows the band on the road and how the Killer Crew put up the stage and the Maiden boys act backstage and also there’s a 15 minute Documentary about the making the video to wildness dreams as well I just hope you review the live concert it was recorded in Germany back in November 03

I strongly recommend that you listen the cd audio version of Rock in Rio on spotify because it has better sound mixing than the dvd version and also youtube compress the audio when uploading so you lose some frequencies and many details are lost. Rush in Rio (2002) was definitely another show in Brazil that warrants a full song-by-song reaction, but it would take a while w/ over 2.5 hrs worth of music (23 songs)... Of course 'Tom Sawyer' and 'YYZ' were the highlights. "Maiden Japan" was recorded on their first trip to Japan in 1981 on the 'Killers' world tour... it was a nod to Deep Purple's 'Made in Japan' live album from 1972, another TOP live album of all time. The Iron Maiden video 'Live at the Rainbow' was a late 1980 show at London's Rainbow Theater (one of Adrian Smith's early shows w/ Maiden) and they left all the mistakes in... no studio patchwork. One of the things u gotta realize was the turnaround in Iron Maiden's career once the 1999 reunion w/ Bruce Dickinson & Adrian Smith... In 1998, Iron Maiden w/ Blaze Bayley on vocals were at the lowest point of their career - the album 'Virtual XI' was a commercial and critical failure... the band launched a US tour w/ Dio opening and their NYC show was at a 3000 capacity Roseland Ballroom... Tour dates had to cancelled because of Blaze Bayley's vocal problems (or low ticket sales). Even in Europe and Asia, the shows were not selling out and played in smaller venues. At the end of 1998, the album cycle was already over... demand for Iron Maiden in concert had dried up and the antagonism by fans towards Blaze Bayley was growing. In the end, it was a business decision to fire Blaze, because the band could not continue w/ that line-up. And on the 'Ed Hunter' reunion tour in 1999, they sold out 2 nights at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC (2000 each night) ... On the 'Brave new world' tour in 2000, they played Madison Square Garden (10 - 15K capacity) w/ Queensryche and Halford opening. That was proof that the metal fans were not invested in Iron Maiden without Bruce Dickinson on the mic.

They hadn't play Run To The Hills once during the Blaze years, and only at a few concerts on the BNW tour, until this amazing concert where it closed the setlist. And it worked so damn well that it was the show closer for the entire Death On The Road tour.

This song has to be taken in context. It's possibly the best performance ever of Run to the Hills. The band absolutely slays it. And this is at the end of a high-octane, killer set in high heat, in front of 250,000 screaming fans. And this is not an easy song to perform. In my opinion, this is why Iron Maiden is the best. Only their love for the fans could have produced this song.

Dance of Death starts off a bit slow with the fairly weak opening track Wildest Dreams. But it does get a lot better from there quickly. Maiden England is good but at this point it seems more logical to me to prioritize studio albums rather than listening to all the stuff you've already heard before.

You got to do all there LIVE Dvds, Live at the Rainbow 1981, Live at Hammersmith 1982, piece of mind Dortmund Germany 1983, Live After Death 1984, Somewhere in Time 1986 will have to be bootleg the one recorded at Sheffield England is good but make sure it's the first nights recording as the second nights recording Bruce his voice is totally gone as he fought a cold, Maiden England 1988, and this is just to begin with!!!!!! There are so many more rare obscure performances that were not officially released so you may have to get bootleg fan recordings off KZfaq 👍🤘🤘

It’s all down hill from here Hurm. Maiden will be entering their twilight years of overbloated tracks. Dance of Death has good songs but less than Brave New World and each subsequent album follows suit.

Sorry you do not compare Iron Maiden to Nirvana (druggies) not Maiden only tea and water ALOUD. beers between shows sure but within shows never! why do you think they are still here? and performing next year and beyond...
