Sad to realize that 3 of the 5 Rainbow members who recorded 'Rising' in 1976, have passed away... R.I.P. - Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Jimmy Bain (bass) and Cozy Powell (drums)... Jimmy Bain would also establish himself w/ Dio (the band) and Cozy Powell had a long history as the drummer of Black Sabbath, as well as a plethora of great records by Cinderella, Gary Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker, and Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest guitarist)... 🤘🤘

It is a keyboard solo. Tony Carey I think was the keyboardist for this album, I was amazed when I first heard it a couple months back. Every one was on FIRE in this song. Cozy Powell is bashing the absolute shit out of the drums all song long, Ritchie Blackmore was all-round awesome, especially his long solo after the keyboard solo, and Dio, I mean damn he killed this song. Can't wait for Long Live Rock and Roll 🤘🤘

Ritchie Blackmore is one of Miyako’s influences. He is the only guitarist I rate higher than M&M. A true prodigy. The only other people I know who played with as much feeling and taste were Hendrix and Prince.

A Light In The Black is part 2 of Stargazer, both songs need to be played back to back, Rising is one of my favorite albums of all time, it's a masterpiece, rest in peace Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell and Jimmy Bain. Gone but never forgotten.

There was a keyboard player on this album - Tony Carey... and there is 1 more Rainbow record w/ Ronnie Dio on vocals - "Long live Rock n' roll" (1978)... David Stone played some keyboards on that one... Bob Daisley (Ozzy Osbourne) was on bass... It's got some great songs: 'Kill the King'... 'Gates of Babylon'... "Long live rock n' roll" ... 'Lady of the Lake'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥 (Late) Producer Martin Birch did that record and 'Rising'... he had worked w/ Deep Purple previously, and he worked w/ Iron Maiden from 1981 to 1992.

Simply :amazing and perfect song

One of the all time classics. AFAIK this caused a little bit of a tension between Dio and Blackmore back then, due to the prolonged instrumental section. I think it's cool.

Some cool effects in this song. A great song all around. A great guitar and keyboard solo and Dio's vocals were awesome. Next - any missed om first Rainbow album - Catch the Rainbow? than onto Long Live Rock and Roll album.

One of the two greatest tracks on the greatest rock album of all time. Stargazer and A Light In The Black should always be played together, they are two sides of the same story. BTW, I did buy it when it came out and it still blows me away.

Deemed to be the first ever Power Metal song. Already on my gym playlist

One of the first rock albums I bought as a teenager in the late 70's.....awesome. The keyboard and guitar solos are superb. btw...Tony Carey was the keyboard player, it wasn't guitar effects.

It's definitely a great way to end a superb album. Now on to 'Long Live Rock 'n' Roll'. 🤘
