Very beautiful and well thought. appreciate the effort to keep things really really simple and clean (in terms of tidiness). Maybe something to consider to help further freeing up (slightly) more real estate on the desk, mount the PC at the back of the monitor (provided if that is even possible) or the underside of the table surface, to overcome the inconvenience of accessing the I/O ports, a hub can be connected to the PC and then located at the side of the tabletop. and if really not fussy about audio quality, maybe can explore getting one of those slim soundbar that can be mounted at the top of the monitor. Regardless, it is extremely comfortable, and like what you mentioned, really really inviting. Thanks for the inspiration! Cheers

Good job on the desk setup! But just a few questions. The M590 mouse is clearly a downgrade from the Mx Master which HL used previously. Why not keep the same? Ergonomically it is a very open setup but it may cause some posture issues down the line. Why not invest in a good chair and table? The speaker's situation is also very unorthodox. Ideally, a wired connection will be much better than a Bluetooth one, and buying from a reputed audio company is much better. Why have you gone with the IKEA one?
@ThoughtworthyCo
@ThoughtworthyCo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey 👋 The MX Master was in pretty bad shape. The scroll wheel and thumb buttons are faulty, and in the process of taking it apart to fix it, some of the plastic bits also broke off. It was time to replace it, and I just didn't think I could justify the price of the MX Master line considering my experience with them. Posture isn't really an issue. We actually talked about floor desk setups (and their health benefits) in our other videos, do check them out. The IKEA speakers can actually be used with a wired USB connection as well if preferred. But for reasons mentioned in the video, it ultimately comes down to price/value. For the wife's use case, these speakers just made a lot of sense, and IKEA isn't exactly inexperienced when it comes to producing speakers too. Cheers!

You really amazed me with the setup! But why wouldn't you choose mac mini instead of the mini pc that you chose? It's small, super powerful and has a slik design. Also it's not that expensive. It would fit perfectly in this setup's aesthetics :)
@ThoughtworthyCo
@ThoughtworthyCo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! The mac mini was in my consideration, but I ultimately decided against it for a couple of reasons. Mainly: 1. We're not that familiar with Mac OS, and there are also some software we use that work better on Windows, so we didn't want to go through the trouble of familiarizing ourselves with a new OS and look for software alternatives. 2. I prefer hardware that are easy to repair or upgrade so as to prolong their lives. With this mini PC, I'll at least have the option of changing out the RAM, storage, etc. if the need ever arises. Cheers!

nice, but why not use a monitor arm? then you get even more desk space

The main reason is because our tabletops' edges have a curvature to them. So unfortunately, they most likely won't work with the clamps of monitor arms 😔

Good minimalist setup. I wonder what’s the long term effect of sitting like that instead of chair..

What about the scanner, printer, label maker? I need them, so I have a big three part desk. I would like to not have these extra pieces of equipment but don’t see a way.

What did you do with you nuphy keyboard?? I Want one so bad :( hahaha But loved the whole setup! Is it really comfortable to be on the ground? I saw that she didnt have a place to support her elbow

It's a spare keyboard that either of us can use when working in other parts of our home :) It's quite comfortable for us, but the comfort of a floor setup can't really be compared with the same criteria as that of a traditional desk and chair. We've made a couple of other videos talking about it, check it out!

For me, its seriously a mess. You have to completely put away the drawing tablet and other stuff and when you need to use you you assemble it as if you are about to cook or have dinner. For the table, it doesn't match the mouse mat/pad that was chosen for it. I would have stained the table with the same tone/color of the mouse mat/pad and also leather mouse mat/pad is so bad as time goes by. It will show the wear and tear in the mouse area pretty soon than a cloth type mouse mat/pad. Lastly the pc. I don't know... i'd rather build a mitx pc and based on her pc needs , it will be way better and last longer. My comment may seem harsh but there's nothing comfy about a workspace that you have to assemble, disassemble and work around just so it could me "minimalist".

Completely disagree with everything you said, but that's what's fun about life isn't it? Can't have everyone agreeing on everything. Totally fair to have your own opinion, however unique it is 👍

Really love this setup. I'm torn over the mini PC, though. I'm considering an All-In-One. It seems less complicated and one less wire than a mini. Why did you choose a Mini over an All-In-One?

Hey. I usually prefer to keep things separate and modular, so if just one part breaks, the whole system wouldn't become unusable as a result. Hope that helps 🙌
