Was sadly reminded of our dogs when biscuit lady held her hands up and said “all gone”. We did this with all our dogs over decades, the first time we had two dogs and one had to be put down due to age and illness, the remaining one spent about two weeks looking for her. We tried talking and more snuggles but nothing worked, then one day I got her attention and said the missing dogs name, Tilly , a few times, this got her attention straight away, then I held my hands up with the usual wave and said, Tilly all gone, Tilly all gone and gave her some more hugs. She stopped looking for Tilly, she didn’t know why Tilly was all gone, but “he and she “knew about it and it’s apparently OK. This simple understanding of “all gone”, has stayed with us and sadly had to be used under similar circumstances with other dogs, but it’s not just for treats, I recommend anyone with ANY pet that follows verbal instructions or commands or similar to have their version of “all gone”, it helps communicate understanding, it’s far from perfect but it works.

That's one smart dog, you can understand what he is saying most of the time. I had a cat who died in his 20's who had a small vocabulary of words he could say as clear as a person. He was extremely intelligent also.

So sweet how much Sherpa misses the Biscuit Lady. He has to have his biscuit when he visits Key! I ❤️ that she treats him just as if he was her grand dog too. When he doesn’t sit or gets sassy, she lets him know. Usually Sherpa is the good boy though. Key tends to be the stubborn one because he loves to argue with the Biscuit Lady, aka Nan. The total excitement when Sherpa sees her! It’s so cute seeing them sit side by side to get their biscuits. Sherpa trying to get extra! Not fooling her! 🐾❤️🐾

We now have a 4 month old husky. He learned to speak from watching and listening to sheps and key. He's still in his play bitting stage. We consider key and sherps as good role models for him as he grows.
