In this video I compare the Husqvarna and Toro residential zero turn mowers at the $3500-$4000 price range.
I want to thank Cobb's Triangle Tractor in Eustis Florida and also Tractor Supply for allowing me to look at their mowers.
I was not paid by and brand, store, or dealership to make this video. Its simply my opinion.
Watch my past videos were I have already compared other brands including Bad Boy, Scag, Gravely, John Deere, and more.
Thanks for watching and dont forget to subcribe to the channle. I'll be making more videos comparing higher priced zero turns as well as riding lawn tractors.

I understand every mower has it's pros and cons, but I just wanted to add about my Toro experience. I purchased my first Toro Timecutter (50") with the myride system. It has the Toro engine (Loncin-China) and I was skeptical at first since the big box didn't have the kawasaki/kohler choice, but I bought it anyway. Things I didn't like right away was it didn't have an hour meter, but it was pre-wired. That's pretty cheap. The seat cable was missing (someone "borrowed" it ). The switch/key seems low quality even compared to my 15 year old YTS4000 Craftsman (Husqvarna). What I did like and made me forget about the negatives was the myride system. It is so easy to use and I feel like i'm sitting in a recliner while cutting my somewhat lumpy 1.5 acres of land. I can set it to its fastest setting (which is 7 mph i think) and just glide through my lawn. The blade RPM sounds great. My neighbor has a Bad Boy mower and our blade rotations sound the same. My cut is great and the gas mileage (3 gallon tank) is pretty good. I checked utube to see what problems the Toro engine might be experiencing and I found none regarding the engine. I know it's built in China, but what isn't these days. You can find an informative comparative video on utube with the Toro (Loncin) engine, comparing it to Kawasaki and Kohler and I think Briggs. Not saying the Toro engine is better, but so far it's held up (4 years old). I don't regret my purchase and would recommend Toro products.

I got the Z254F special edition 4 weeks ago. Great machine. I live on 5.5 acre horse property with no horses, pastures had not been cut all summer, 2 foot tall weeds and grass. Took two passes but got the whole place done a little at a time in 1.5 weeks, 28 hrs on machine. Very powerful engine. The whole place looks like a lawn now.

I just bought a Toro Timecutter with My Ride suspension system for $4599 model 75759 with the Kohler 7000 motor, and the models you were looking at there don't look nearly as substantial as mine. I didn't see any of the model numbers on the Toro models you were looking at but but it looked to me like an apples to oranges comparison. I did extensive research, and I directly comaired the Toro to the Cub Cadet and the Toro came out on top. Full suspension being my main selling point. Not really sold on Cub Cadet (MTD)
@Mechanical_Mind
@Mechanical_Mind Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, in this video I was comparing mowers available in the +/- $3500 price range. Trying ro stay close to the $3500 as much as possible. How would that be "apples to oranges"? If I compared a $4599 priced mower to a $3599 priced mower that would be apples to oranges... I had gone to one of the largest chain of Toro dealeships in my area to take a look their models in the price range for my video. They had 4 Timecutters and 2 had parts missing from them. One had the engine shroud missing and the other had the ignition switch retainer nut missing. Plus the sloppy way the wires and cables were installed it made me ask them "are these mowers used or new?" They said they were all new units. I wasnt sure if I believed them. I quickly relaized I would not be able to use thier mowers for my video. So I went to drive to another dealership. I happen to stop by that Tractor Supply on my way and saw they had those two Toro mowers displayed with the price tags clearly visable. It didnt take long for me to realize the Toros were not even close to the quality of the Cub Cadet or Husqvarna or the new 2023 John Deere z300s. Even that $4799 priced Toro was not impressive. Ive tried out the 'My Ride' and its not full suspension at all. Its just a rocking platform gimmick. Your 75759 has the same engine, same transmission (ZT2200), and a 10 gauge deck without as much reinforcement as the others. Based on your research what makes any Toro timecutter with a price of $3500-$4000 better than the Cub cadet or Husqvarnas? Just saying it "looks" more substantial means nothing. What matters is actual numbers / specs / materials used etc.
@mikesbikechannel4387
@mikesbikechannel4387 Жыл бұрын
@Mechanical Mind wow there's a lot to unpack here, so let's start with the My Ride suspension. Have you looked at the actual mechanics of the way it's designed? The innovation in the design is that the whole platform is independent of the mower itself. The challenge for an all independent suspension is to eliminate or reduce torsion. The rocking sensation that you described is a direct result of a solid rear mount under spring tension. I realize there have been a few iterations of the design since inception, but to simply call it a "gimmick" is a bit critical. Many of the reviews I've read and the forum I belong to praise it for its smooth operation. I for one have a very bumpy yard, and my Craftsman T210 was beating me to death. The My Ride has solved this issue, and one of the chief reasons I bought this mower over any other. The only other mower that has this level of suspension is just now hitting the market in the Husqvarna Xcite Z350 and Z380, which cost considerably more than I paid for my Toro. On the apples to oranges comment that I made, I realized that you were looking at sub $4000 mowers but I was just as confused as you were at the Toro's you were showing in your video. I don't buy anything on a whim, and I literally did hundreds of hours of research and looked at countless mowers before I made my decision. This is my first zero turn mower purchase, so I wanted to get such a sizeable purchase right the first time. As I stated in my comment, I paid $4799 for my mower to distinguish the fact that I understood the mowers you were looking at were of a lesser amount than mine. The fact that I haven't seen some of the inadequacy issues that you showed in your video is the first thing that surprised me. In comparison to the Cub Cadet Ultma ZT1, I understand they both have literally the same transmissions and the same engines, but the Toro has a 10 guage deck as opposed to Cub Cadets 11 guage deck thickness. While one guage of steel may not seem like much, it could be measured in years more service if taken care of. Many reviewers of the Cub Cadet also complained about the rough ride they had on the Ultma. To summarize, judging from the fact that I have done exhaustive research specifically on 50 to 54" inch residential zero turn mowers, and I too have a mechanical background, I saw your video as judgmental and in direct contrast to my observations. Thank you for the channel as it appears that you mostly want to help people with your skills and information. Please remember that you are an influencer, and what you say holds weight with many people.

I recently just bought the the Toro 75750 which is under $5k. I check ed some of the things you found concerning in the units you viewed and they were not present in this unit. The tires are wider and the wiring under the seat was all in harnesses and professional looking. I was initially looking at an Exmark but was turned on to the Husqvarna but was ultimately steered away by several of their dealers I went to based on current parts availability and frame issues on the 54”. The one mentioned that they had a mower in for service that was waiting 6 months for a part. When I started looking in to alternates the Toro kept coming up as a top pick so I was surprised by your opinion of them.

@Burgandy B if you read the O.P. reply to my comment, you can see where he basically called me out on my opinion of his opinion. I couldn't help but reply one more time to answer the rebuttal. I'm really not one to argue, but I too was surprised at his findings. I bought the 75756 and so far I love it! The My Ride suspension has made the world of difference in my comfort for mowing an extremely rough yard. The cut quality is superb, and so far, I'm am over the moon with this mower! Time will tell about the longevity but everything I'm reading tells me this machine should do me well for years to come.

I'll be honest right now Id have to look at my notes and maybe rewatch my own video because I cant remember why I the CubCadet came out on top. I broke down the points comparing the brands at the end of video to give a total score. *Sorry for the voice over editing issue the CubCadet video has near the end* Soon I plan to do comparisons on the higher priced models and also riding lawn tractors. Ive just been super busy with work and my side business which kinda links to up with these video topics. I do like the Bad Boys and the Scag machines. It’s a shame that Toros quality has gone downhill, they used to be decent. And it’s not just their residential zero turns, the quality of their equipment all across the board has gone down. I bought a super recycler with a Honda engine a couple years ago and it’s been great. It’s a shame that MTD cub cadets are now built better. Have you looked at Hustler yet? What do you think puts the cub above the Ikon?
@Mechanical_Mind
@Mechanical_Mind Жыл бұрын
Hi Kaycee, Id say the 3 main things are Price, warranty and frame. The Ikon models that have line up with the Ultima ZT1 and have the same engine (Kawasaki FR691V) are several hundred dollars more. They have the same cut speed, same hydros, clutch and both have 11 ga fabricated decks. The Cub Cadet has a 3 yr unlimited hours warranty vs 3 yr 300 hrs. But the cub cadet has a lifetime limited warranty in the deck and frame. I also like the Cub Cadets frame with protection bars around the engine. The lower priced Ariens models that match the Cub Cadet price have smaller engines slower speeds and smaller tires and shorter warranties.

Thats a good comparison. Id go with the Bad Boy MZ Rambler. It has a thicker (7 gauge) deck and 5 gallon fuel tank compared to the Z242F's 10 guage deck and 3.5 gallon tank. So many act like B&S engines are junk and act like Kawaski and Kohler are superior. As a mechinac I see issues among Kawasaki and Kohler engines also more than Briggs. But thats just my experience so its anecdotal.

I can't find those others in a 34" cutting deck. I don't want a 42 it's too big. I'll maybe consider a 36" Toro has that 34" deck and that's the one I'm leaning toward. The smaller tires don't bother me, but it would be nice to be able to lift up the plate to inspect the belts. Also I would like to be able to service the transmission, or at least replace them cheap and easy. That seems to be what always goes bad on those zero turn mowers. A deck can be fixed or replaced so the thin steel don't so much bother me. I'm gonna subscribe and request that you do a video on the smaller zero turn mowers that can get into the tight spaces. I'll be pushing the button on a new mower beginning of next month.

Hey @flyone8350, thanks for Subscribing. Its funny you mention wanting a smaller width zero turn. I just was working on a Husqvarna RZ3016 that has a 30" deck. I like it so much I made an offer to buy from my customer. They do not make that model anymore but Hustler does make some 34" residential zero turns. I plan to make a video on Hustlers mowers soon. They do make some nice mowers. www.hustlerturf.com/products/dash-xd Before pulling the trigger on the Toro Id take a look at the Hustler Dash XD. They start at $3649 and you can get a 34" deck with a Kawasaki engine. The regular Hustler Dash is $3099 with a 10.5 Briggs.
