This time let's run the 371xp in some hard wood and see if the new pop up piston gives it more power.
thanks for watching

I love ol Gehl...she's an oldie but a goodie,lol. Tinman's a portable moonshiner. Like the work you've done on that saw man. Keep it up and best wishes to the family.

Hi Tinman, watching you run the saw it appears to have more than one issue going on. I had a 372xp that acted similar to your 371. The coil on mine was one issue( breaking up in the cut) like yours. I also found saw dust getting into the carb through the holes in the top cover on the carb, saw dust was plugging up the screen. Mine would go lean when hot like yours, that issue was crank seals. I like the way this build you put together pulls when not running lean. I know you will get this saw dialed in. Thanks for showing this content!

Tinman always a pleasure watching your videos 🪵👍❤😮I heard the name Buckin rolling off your tongue 👅 and you are correct about calling in the one that knows how to do it 😊

That sounds like it goes from idle to cut rpm, right now, no transition. It sounds fun.

Suggestion- when you pull questionable parts off- tag them for future reference. Just watched a video earlier where you were having issues with the Husky clone electrics, and your “ spare” coils were questionable. Worked aircraft and you always tagged anything that wasn’t going in the garage. Works😅

Would be interesting to see what it runs like with shorter blowdown, around 20 deg. with no other changes. It definitely is stronger now with that pop up.

It sounds like it has more pull in that hard wood with the pop up, for sure. Something is causing a burble, carb or coil. Something is off somewhere, just slightly but its there alright, you can hear it. Still a very nice build. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙

What do you think about a heavier piston? Lower top revs & more load on the bearings but more flywheel effect.maybe this gives a better spread of torque???
@jonathanbrocklehurst6724

Watch the pull start handle as the load changes. I think that can tell you something.

Wander if it's got just a hair too much ignition advance for the compression that pop-up created? Talking about breaking up when hot. Sounds great tho when it's happy!

Two strokes run way better in cold conditions , when they get hot they run like crap . Fuel problems are hard to pin down , I never let them run dry . Try fueling up before running completely empty 👍🇨🇦

That ignition issue the 371 xp has could be a bad coil almost same issue with my 372 with 272 piston. I put a coil and flywheel on because 10 degrees off from other flywheel. Was better strong but starting missing again after 10 mins. I got a wolfcreek NWP coil coming I will see if it fixes it. My saw has numbers like a stock saw but has no base gasket build .025 off squish and a .025 popup with 185 psi. I wonder if the 272 piston has a different pin height and maybe changing were the piston fires and over advancing the timing.
@tinmanssaws
@tinmanssaws Жыл бұрын
It does have a different pin height but all the machining I did to the piston makes it the same more or less.

@@tinmanssaws Thanks Tinman. I'm enjoying this 371xp build series you are doing. Can't wait to see how this saw turn out when finished. For fun maybe try the 372 52 mm piston in that cylinder see how that runs. I could not in my bigbore the bottom ring locator pin was in the intake port at bdc.

That saw pulls nice. You can hear that it’s not quite the screaming me me as with the other piston. Do you always use the factory piston pin circlips? I had a little red barn piston fail after 2 and 1/2 tanks on my brush saw.The circlip came out and destroyed both the piston and cylinder. It’s a 252rx Husqvarna and the cylinders are hard to find it seems 🤨

@@tinmanssaws yeah I have used a hyway 372 big bore pop up on my build. No issues with it and I got about ten tanks. I want to build one that’s a high revr like your first rendition there just for fun
