*Coming up on having had this saw for a year....am a casual user and bought it to cut up sections for bowl blanks. Easy to start, **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend even after storage for a couple of months. Simple chain tension adjustment. Just cut up some 20" Osage Orange, including ripping bolts in half (at an angle). Like butter!*

Nice video. I too purchased a 395xp in 2002 to rip hardwood posts on a logosol mill for a vineyard using a 36 inch bar and 404 skip tooth carbide tip chain. Very hard hot work for the saw. Now 2020 and just put a carby kit in. Checked the bore, still has original hone marks. What a crakka of a saw. Originally was going to get a 3120 but was too big for the mill, pretty pleased I didn't.

I'm 56 years old and have always cut my own firewood, and for others too. My first good saw was a Husky 61, and for some years I have run a PS6400 Dolmar. The Dolmar is a fantastic reliable saw, BUT, when I bought the 395XP, and it blasts through wood, I cant help but get a big smile! It is incredible grunt! I currently have a 20"bar on it, it is ultra fast and what it spits out I can use for kindling!! Really good value for money, Dave and Debbie, from New Zealand

Have to put in a plug for my husky 362xp 3.8 and 5 horsepower awesome power to weight ratio chainsaw. Purchased it when it first came out I'm going to guess 20 years ago would have to pull out paperwork to verify that but it's been a Workhorse all I've ever done is replace the bars chains and keep it clean I've never pulled the carburetor off of it it's never let me down on the other hand the little husky 335xp arborist saw does what it does very well but I've had a lot of problems with the recoil starter system. The pawls that catch as you pull the starter rope in there keep breaking. 395 is definitely a man's saw!!!

You're right. I used many of the predecessors to the MS660, (066) and for me they were bullet proof and perfect 👌. However, I've been using a Husqvarna 395 today on windblown Poplar. The poise and balance aren't as good as the Sthil, but the engine feels like its come off a motocross bike.

@@randystrand908 I can't say as I would pick it over a 395 if I was on a steady diet of big wood. But for the wood I am in most of the time witch is 2.5 to 3 foot trees. It is plenty of saw. I run a 30 inch bar with full comp square ground chain and a 8 tooth sprocket. And it pulls it like a beast. I have made my own dual port muffler and made some adjustments to the carb. @leeting85905 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I now recently own one and can compare directly to a 661. They are both great but the Husky is better. Better torque. If you keep the revs up on the 661 it will cut the same but for those hard jobs pulling a long bar the Husky is hand down better. Better ergos also. Also better balanced so the extra 1kg I don't notice that much. Plus the 661 air filter is full of dirt after an hours use. Husky air filter is the bomb!😊. And so what about the front chain adjuster. Love the saw.
@randystrand9084 жыл бұрын
Would you pick it over the 390xp?
@leeting85904 жыл бұрын
@@randystrand908 I was looking at the 390. I have a 576xp. Same design. Wanted something different and it is a more powerful saw. It has the outboard clutch which I wanted to run also. The reason for outboard clutch is so the bar sits closer to the midline of the saw. I've also heard it is meant to help with less heat build up around the case. If you look down the saw it is very narrow. There is a reason all the old loggers ran this saw. Tough, reliable and works.
@randystrand9084 жыл бұрын
@@leeting8590 Appreciate!! I hadn't even thought of your points nor seen them pointed out anywhere.... ALL makes good sense and I'm with you re chain adjuster. I keep an 18" screw driver in my tool bag for my 288xp anyway. A shopping I will be. Thanks!

Also, as an amateur, I’ve always been keen on Echos price and reliability. Never really likes Stihl until I recently started working at a shop that sells them. Just got a 362cm and I love it. As far as Stihl’s homeowner and farm/ranch saws, I’d stay away from all of em except the ms250. They go on sale every year for $300.

I will tell you the difference. They have been,from january 2017 made in Brazil !! I was gutted to find that out after selling my German made Stihl MS 660 and buying one of these. Mine has been in the shop more than it has been working,at least 3 times now. The chain oiler is not working correctly and the oil is circulating in the tank and getting very hot and aerating. After cutting some Macrocarpa logs (New Zealand) for firewood ,the bar burnt and the chain got blued very quickly. I run a 20" bar and 404 chain,so not as if the bar is too long. I am so disappointed. The shop where I purchased it has been really helpful,but the Husky rep is useless,I think I may end up demanding a refund and buying a Stihl MS 661.

Forest Floor Enterprises. Not at all. I was under the impression they were made in Sweden when I purchased it. The loaner that the shop let me have is Swedish and it's a beast !!
