That 44 is in a good shape! Im being pulled towards the small saws lately. Got a 133sg to play around with from 1980. Was sold as not starting. I messed around with it a bit and it fired up enough to see it has great throttle response. Those small high revving saws cant be underestimated.

Fun video! Those tiny saws definitely shine for some work. So light and easy to climb around the brush piles with. My go-to brush-pile saw is a Stihl 170 with a ported 180 top end (32cc). I've never run one of the little Husqvarna's. That 44 looks like a dandy.

But the saw I been running is a joncutter 5800 I believe its a 54cc. I put a .325 chain with 18" bar on it. It's runs good! Light weight and fairly strong if you don't bog it down. Tha ks tinman for the vid. Enjoy it!

55 is a very good farm/ranch saw, built to a price point. A 254 will cut circles around one with almost the same weight and displacement (they even share the tank and front handle) but the 55 was around much longer and has better parts support. One of my next projects is to try and make my 55 run with my 254. 3.3 HP vs 4.1, so there's a good bit to make up.

@@82f100swb Is the 55 a plastic clamshell design like the 455? Yes, the 254 was/is a pro saw and they always have more power than the farm/ ranch saws. I personally wouldn’t spend $500 or more on a clamshell saw but they do have their place. To me it just makes more sense to spend a little more for a pro saw. You get a lot more and they mod easier.

@@andybecker2693 The 55 is a split crankcase saw, no clamshell here. Definitely a value engineered saw, things like the carb screws being coarse thread into plastic, the top cover screws going into u-nuts rather than the cases being drilled and tapped. Not major downgrades, but clearly done to decrease production cost. Top ends on this chassis are actually shared with Partner and Jonsered. Really wish I had a reply with video button on here... LOL
