The most powerful felling wedge today is now available for pre-order. 31% increased lifting power over other wedges. The PowerWedge, limited supply, first 100 orders get a sweet deal at:

A morning dose of the Best Saw & Logging channel on KZfaq. Kind of sets the mood, cup of coffee, this video for inspiration; then headed to the woods with my "mini" 592, the 572 with a 28 inch B&C. Ported by me.

Bjarne thank you for what is one of the best places to find proper timber cutting content. Alot has been learned from them. I think it would be great to have a video all about bucking and hear your thoughts on bucking (why start here, what might the tree do if I do this, why I cut here and finish here, saw techniques in the buck etc.) I think a video or series of just bucking would be awesome. Personally I find bucking is the most taxing mentally and physically. Just a thought is all. I understand your time to record is limited and find it nice that you're able to find time at all to record as a production faller. Thanks Bjarne for all the content you have put out here on the you tube.

believe it or not, processing all of the timber takes a good amount of the time to be completely honest. Falling takes the less amount of time bucking and processing can take up a full shift to do depending on how many cutters are out there with you. but if ur by yourself it takes awhile.

I personally find that falling is the most mentally taxing. Maybe because I'm always falling trees near buildings, vehicles or even the challenging twisted, leaning, with swoom arms. Back in the day it was a lot easier for me because it was all beetle kill snags in the forest near nothing but other snags or healthy trees. Being that I started with a small saw selling firewood, the bucking is an easy part. But I never cut trees that were big enough to squash the truck if it rolled.

Bjarne, I have to ask because I respect your knowledge. A guy on another Canadian logging channel (BBR, I won't use his actual name but you probably can figure out who that is) says cedar "does not hinge". I told him I question that claim and would ask Bjarne what he thinks. If anyone knows about felling cedar it is you. Thanks.

Question or three for if you don't mind. How long is it after all the timber in is harvested, do they come back through, and plant saplings, and what species do they replace everything cut down with? Equally as well what about all the jumbled up trimmings, and dead fall that's covering all the soil, are do they wait several years to let it rot down before they replant the saplings? One more, why don't they leave some of the small stands of immature trees to hold the soil in place, and provide cover for the wildlife that's left to deal with the total clear cut sections? That also would leave a small population of the various species of trees to give some sort of food supply for the various wildlife dependant on the different varieties of trees and other lower level foliage that they depend on for winter storage either of in actual food storage, or what they need to build reserves of body fat that carries them through the winter months.. Not that I am a tree hugger, but I have never understood the need to totally strip every single species of timber from the forest, and then replace it with something that only provides one source of timber, and greatly cuts the food sources from all the different species of wildlife that's been there since the forests were young saplings, especially in the old growth forest that have been in place for thousands of years? PS My family were in the same profession as yourself for couple generations, and some still are in a different side of the industry. So it's not like I'm not familiar with doing my share of different jobs associated with either felling, are hauling it out to the mill But never thought about such things until I was older, and they were all old, or gone

Its not that cutting in the fog itself is dangerous. It's the fact that if something happens while you're cutting they can't get a helicopter in to rescue you.

I generally drink a lot of milk and have a snack in between each tank of fuel. And yes when we're headed back from the woods my son drives the pickup while I sleep🤣
