I bought a Husq 254F special edition 4 wks ago. I live on a 5.5 acre horse property with no horses, pastures were 2ft tall, not cut all summer. Took me 28 hours to cut the whole place, had to make 2 passes for the pastures. Whole place looks like a lawn. Mine has the 23 hp Kawasaki. Very powerful. Love that machine.

I got my husqvarna about a week ago , man it kicks ass I have 5 acres and It would usually take me 2 days to do with a riding mower . With the husqvarna I can do it in a little under 5hrs that's including edges and blower . Love it glad I went with it.

Great video I have the exact mower I purchased last June and so far I’m happy with it. I just wanted to say that the manual recommends Kawasaki 10w-40 oil but That is harder to find so I use 10w-30 shouldn’t hurt anything . I know heavy oil like 0-30 is recommended for a lot of commercial mowers like grasshoppers and woods. As long as it’s changed every 50-100 hours should be engine worry free. I like the design of the mower for the most part. Only con I have with my mower is the service shop who serviced it new got the handles and tracking off a bit but I’ll play around with that and get it straight

Also a lil FYI, before you start to replace components on your mower, take a blower and blow off all the grass clippings, after I'm done with my riding mower I blow all the clippings and dirt off and then after the mower is cooled off I rinse my entire yard tractor from front to back, just a lil fyi

As a heads-up, the front wheels use sleeve bushings on these and need A LOT of grease to pack them up the first time. The factory grease is only enough to get them past the warranty period, and the way the zerk is placed there's a good chance that the grease you've pumped into them has never actually reached the bushings. They failed on my My z254 and I just replaced them with roller bearings. Take them apart and you'll see. :( The good news it's a cheap part, only about $30. I'm mentioning this here because of the clump of grass on top of your front wheels. When these bushings wear out you get less clearance there and grass gets stuck there.

Thanks. I'm thinking of buying this model and wanted to see how difficult to remove/maintain mower deck. I was holding my breath thinking maybe that drain plug was the transmission oil fill port. Impact driver, I too find it helps spin off the bottom nut instead of top. Or/Also you can hold the pulley in place. Paranoia, good to remove/reinstall blades before putting the spark plug wires back on. You can check the blade balance by centering blade on top of the side of a large deep socket (good enough). I suggest you get a second set of blades. You can prep blades ahead of time to reduce amount of time mower is out of service; and procrastinate on sharpening blades. I suggest using leaf blower to blow away debris (actually after each use before putting away). Does grass get packed under the spindle pulley covers? I eventually decided to leave covers off my Cub Cadet mower deck. Thanks again.

All great points, never thought of the socket and I do have a second set of blades and do the very thing. ThankS for the support and comment. The deck isn't bad to take off but those fill ports suck getting too. (Almost easier to drop the transmissions and check/fill. Sorry about the late respond just seeing a bunch of these.

Honestly it's been awhile since I did that one however I know I showed on one of them. There's a hose with a bolt in it, that's your drain line (if yours has one like mine). Just loosen the bolt and take it out and it should drain the oil. Hope this helps

i wanna know how many people toasted the motor putting 20 OZ. of oil in a motor that needs 2 quarts. Also you should be running a pre filter on that air filter. Careful who you listen to on KZfaq
