It kinda looked like the velos had less visible gas coming out the end cap, the hux looked like the gas was faster and more intense. I got my velos stamp 2 weeks ago and it’s the best can I’ve ever owned, perfect for 5.56 on an ar platform, little to no flash at all on my 5” upper. I think the velos is a 8/10 on sound suppression 10/10 on flash suppression and a 9/10 on back pressure reduction, either way the tone is amazing on it

Im really considering the velos for my 16 inch 556 MCX. Right now I got an omega 300 and the back pressure is really bad on that gun. How much better are these kind of cans for this caliber?

@@TandCEveryDay I was in the exact same boat as you, omega 300 with tons of gas to the face, after I got the velos I never used the omega on a 556 again, they have a 556, 556k, and 7.62 velos, lots of good options, I’d recommend the regular 556, much better sound reduction than the 556k

@@TandCEveryDay A big selling point for me is that with standard baffle stacks like the omega 300 you typically want to get an adjustable gas block, heavier buffer weight, and an expensive, charging handle, etc. to help manage the gas, most people have 20 guns and 2 to 3 cans, so I’d rather invest in one great can so you don’t have to modify all of your current guns or future ones, also my chamber stays cleaner longer, the brass casings don’t look nearly as dirty as with the omega. I also shoot binary and full auto so a full auto rated flow through can was a must

Yeah the Flow 556k really is ultimate low back pressure but it definitely throws it out front. Have not shot or heard a velos yet but I like shooting the Flow way better than a saker, Polonium, and most other 30 cal cans.

The Velos is a pretty dang good can. I have to run my FM-15 9” on full gas to get it to lock back on an empty mag. Definitely lower backpressure and has a great tone, possibly due to the large diameter?
@RangeToyz
@RangeToyz 5 ай бұрын
Volume definitely helps.The internal baffles look normal, except there’s probably a dozen or more sort of diagonal raised holes around the outside letting gas through. I think between the baffles and outer tube, there’s something more swirling the gases as well, and that the gases escape from there out the outer holes in the front cap. I bought the Velos for my V53, a .223 8.5” MP5 because it needed to be ultra low pressure. I haven’t tried it yet, but I used my Rugged Micro 30 and the Velos is lower back pressure than it. I’ll have of a video of it soon.

@@RangeToyz yeah, the design is what Jay from PewScience described as “hybrid,” and it’s interesting how close the ear and muzzle signatures approach the same level. I remember CapitolArmory making that point before the Pew data pointing out how it doesn’t mean a lot if you get a low muzzle and high ear or vice versa since they impact the overall signature.

Thanks for checking in! Hope you’re well. I’ve still got my Rattler. The CAT suppressors are catching my eye for sure! I haven’t heard them in person yet, but have seen a few KZfaq videos and checked them out on Pew Science. The ODB with 300 blackout subs is close muzzle wise to the Banish 30, Socom 300 SPS and Enticer L Ti while being quieter at the ear/less back pressure by a bit. The Hyperions muzzle is a good bit quieter and just a bit quieter at the ear than the ODB. Good numbers at Pew Science to research for sure. I’ve invested in a Scythe, but won’t get it for awhile and it won’t sound as good. The illestdomer2005 has a video with the CAT ODB verses another suppressor and seems really impressed. A few light strikes, maybe from low back pressure like I had with my OSS. You might ask him. I saw his video and the one from Silencershop. There’s a couple more too out there. Let me know what you think!

@@RangeToyz I just got my rattler upper the other day. Iv never shot anything subsonic before. Only really shot 556 suppressed. Currently have a sandman s on the rattler but would like a supressor that’s more specific to 300 blackout. Will be a while before I can buy another can I try to be waiting on one at all times. Currently waiting on the flow 556k.
@RangeToyz
@RangeToyz 5 ай бұрын
@@husky701rider9 right on! Dead Air would recommend the Sandman S over the Nomad that I have on my Rattler 300 blackout because of its short barrel length. It has a bit wider bore to give you just a bit less back pressure and has a tougher cerakote that will stand up to heat better than a Nomad. You can probably see the decibel difference on Pew Science. I think they are both a great mid length suppressor and sound great with subsonic ammo, even supersonic because you can’t do much with the sonic crack. I’ll see if my friend that just got his Sandman S approved will let me try it side-by-side with my Nomad hopefully in the near future and I’ll let you know what I think :)

I finally got my hands on my Velos LBP after a five month wait, and SilencerCo announced that they're coming out with a Velos LBP 556K sometime early February so now I have to buy that too. Lol. Do you have any thoughts on it - will you be nabbing one?
@RangeToyz
@RangeToyz 5 ай бұрын
It’s amazing, the Velos 5.56K in direct thread will be shorter and probably lighter weight than the Flow 5.56K. I’d like to know the decibels, but really we all use ear pro when shooting 5.56 suppressed anyway, unless it’s a defense situation. I need to let my wallet cool down for awhile before I can say if I’m getting one. My three guns here are short stroke piston with five position adjustable gas blocks and are tuned quite well to their normal baffle suppressors. I do get some gas coming back down the barrel into the magazine and should consider an ultra low back pressure suppressor. I’d go direct thread for sure to keep it short. I might buy one for my Velos to try it out and see if it’s perfect for all of them or if I should go shorter/lighter/louder with the new Velos LBP 5.56K. It’s tough having an extra silencer sitting in the safe though… maybe I need to buy another host for it lol

@@RangeToyz SilencerCo released the numbers for the Velos 556K on their website a little over a week ago. Admittedly the average at-muzzle decibel reading wasn't too impressive, hovering around 150 dB, but a rep from SilencerCo told me that they measured their readings using an 11" host and that it should be a little more quiet out of a 16" barrel. Honestly this video came out at a great time because your noise comparisons here confirms just that, it seems like. I'd imagine it'd be a little quieter at the ear too, but time will tell as folks gets their hands on it to test it. But I'm in the same boat as you though - I'm excited for the Velos 556K, but a suppressor with no host is no bueno. I'm probably just going to buy it in a couple of months and figure out the host later. By the time it gets approved, I'd have a host ready for it. Lol But six months ain't bad at all! Glad you were able to get yours quickly! I'm praying hard my pending cans gets approved soon as I bought them around the same time. I still have four in jail. 😅

@@t.wood01 I saw The Gun Box @thegunbox81 with a binary Delton Dissipator awhile back. I like the look of a short classic rifle and I’ve never had a DI AR15, only piston guns because they’re better suppressed. The Velos 5.56K would have a good home on one with its ultra low back pressure and short length. I even have a spare Echo 2 and tuning kit. Maybe I’ll go with a Palmetto Dissipator. Great price on that gun too and no tax stamp for a change lol I’ll ponder it while I save.
@t.wood01
@t.wood01 5 ай бұрын
@@RangeToyz I never heard of the Dissipator before but it looks like a pretty neat gun - definitely a great candidate for a Velos 556K! I've stewed on what I'd host my Velos 556K with when it comes out and I've decided to go the retro route as well - not a Dissipator though! I'm thinking of getting just a Colt M4A1 Carbine. My LGS has one with my name on it that catches my eye every time I swing by. If they still have it in a few months, I'm buying it! But for now, I need to cool off and actually shoot the guns I have - they need some lovin' and attention! 😂 My last pending suppressors got approved a couple of days ago, glory to God, so I'll be satisfied with those for the time being while I tune and shoot what I have. If you don't have one already, the Bren 2 is a nice gun as well! I wound up buying two this year. They're very light weight short stroke piston guns that can run any length or weight of suppressor without feeling front heavy due to their pencil barrel profiles. I haven't shot either of them yet, but I'm about ready to test how they function with the Saker 556 that got approved for me - see if the aftermarket gas regulator works as well as people say online.

@@RangeToyz which one you think was quieter and which one you like best?
@RangeToyz
@RangeToyz 5 ай бұрын
@@Keep_It_Loaded the Velos was quieter and has that “pft” suppressed sound I’m used to. The ASR mount was easy to swap the can between hosts. The Flow was impressive for its length even when mounted. It spins tight when shooting and I actually had trouble getting it off once with a silicone suppressor mitt after it cooled with only those 13 rounds. Glad it’s reverse thread to the mount and I eventually broke it free and got it swapped to the next host. Almost need a strap wrench with you just in case. The Velos comes with a 1/2x28 flash hider. Price and ability to warranty go to the Velos as well. I’d get a 15x1 Velos direct thread mount if they made one to dedicate the suppressor to my V53 to make it shorter and lighter even though it’s really already pretty short. HUXWRX says their larger 7.62 15x1 mount isn’t compatible with smaller caliber suppressors, only small caliber mounts are compatible with large caliber suppressors. That means HUXWRK doesn’t have any mount for my 5.56 V53 unless I got the Flow 7.62. For me, I think the Velos wins in a landslide.

I'm looking at getting a suppressor for my AR I'm buying, I know that I have to get a tax stamp, but can you use regular 5.56 ammo in a suppressor or do you have to use Subsonic ammo? Thanks for the help.
@RangeToyz
@RangeToyz 5 ай бұрын
All 5.56 suppressors are made for supersonic ammo. They do a great job for the shooter and anyone within hearing range, but they’ll always have a sonic crack. The only subsonic ammo that I know is Atomic Tactical Subsonic Cycling ammo 112 grain. it will tumble out of a barrel though, and is recommended to not use a suppressor because you might get a baffle strike. If you could find regular 55 grain or 62 grain subsonic ammo, your semiautomatic gun would not be able to cycle it. you would have to cycle it manually, but it would sound good. These low back pressure suppressors are louder than baffle suppressors, but don’t require you to tune your gun, such as getting an adjustable gas block or using a heavier buffer like with baffle suppressors.
