It's not very gassy, but if you're shooting left-handed and your gun doesn't have adjustable gas, that's the territory where extremely low back pressure suppressors may be preferable to it (even coupled with the corresponding loss in sound reduction). Not even necessarily the Flow 556K, but more like the larger, more flow-through HX-QD.

Appreciate it! The 14.5" is actually quieter and beats the 11.5" by a couple decibels in both muzzle and ear. The dosing numbers are higher on the 14.5" because it performs better in terms of sound reduction. This demonstrates that you can shoot more rounds because of the drop in decibels.

The unsupressed numbers are higher on the 14.5 according to your chart at 4:30, that is a little confusing

We have sound testing videos on the whole Dual-Lok series, including the Dual-Lok 5 vs the Sig SLX556-QD. Those test results implement the same standard applied in this video.

We offer a direct thread adapter for Taper Mounts. A2 devices will not be compatible with the Recce 5k.

The sound time for the noise to get to the back wall and return is 131ms. That noise can't return in time for the waveform to process, however the supersonic bullet flight noise snap could come back at around 91ms if the actual impact to rubber and 180 degree bounce is immediate. We aren't seeing it here because we only have 76ms left in the waveform time, after the report begins, so it's off the chart.

Yes, approximately. The Recce 5 Mod 4 is longer and heavier, with an extra baffle, so that's a fair estimate.

@@GriffinArmamentOfficial one more question. In the dual lok 5/7 video you mention not "needing" to use the secondary locking system. Does that mean that you could use one of your basic tapered threaded cans on a dual lok muzzle device, and vice versa, and just not utilize the dual lok function (hypothetically). And also would you be able to thread the Plan A taper mount 1.375×24 onto a dual lok muzzle device and run XYZ other cans? utilizing that thread pitch ofcourse.

@@nickadkins7765 Dual-Lok muzzle devices are Dual-Lok specific. Nothing else will function with these muzzle devices. We also don't recommend running a Dual-Lok mount in the unlocked position. It was engineered to be utilized in the locked state.

The answer to this question is very complicated. AHAAH is a sound dosing tool, so it takes into account sound intensity and duration. The Flow 556K sound profile has about 1/2 the duration of the Recce 5K, albeit at much higher levels. The AHAAH loses accuracy the further it gets over 140dB unweighted, and the Flow 556K can is louder, so it is getting a more favorable treatment by being further into that accuracy loss area of the tool. This can be seen by looking at the 171dB report on the compensated muzzle of the 14.5" barrel unsuppressed - AHAAH is saying it is safe for 2.5 rounds which is totally false. That sound is very far from the 140dB 97% accuracy ceiling of the tool, and the impulse is very short. The method we use takes the round closest to the average of the unweighted rounds and analyzes that. That doesn't take into account the 6dB FRP, compared to the 3dB FRP of the Recce 5K. If the system would take FRP into account, this negligible difference would likely overlap and we would have tied or taken the right ear dosing. Hopefully after explaining these variables, this gives some understanding to the factors in play here. This is the most accurate tool for impulse dosing that exists and is currently used by automotive industry air bag engineers to determine the hearing risk of air bags, which deploy at about 180dB. Obviously despite the loss of accuracy above 140dB, professional industries see this tool as better than all other alternatives.

A-weighting is the standard for determining hearing damage and noise pollution. It is an auditory loudness curve that allows a measurement to approximate the way a human ear hears sound. Unweighted means no auditory weighting network (or filter) has been applied. The A-weighted curve is intended to supply an accurate decibel measurement to a person by equivocating what they're actually going to hear.

Is the flow better at the ear? What about the actual tone?

Directly in front it's a bit louder yes but for someone get shot at 50+ yards away all they hear is the same supersonic crack and no idea where the shot came from. From behind the gun with the Flow you don't get gas blowing in your face, increased recoil, and massive port pop of a traditional can. The tone is different but with supersonic ammo on a gas gun the flow, to me and many others, is much more pleasant.

Seriously, that's what's making me not want one because of how fuckin ugly they are.

I think they look fine. My main problem with them is cost and size (particularly width). I’m not going to critique them for not being the most quiet /reducing signature the most (as some people have), because that was never their primary goal. Their goal was least amount of back pressure, which they are essentially the best at. That all said, I went with Griffin because they beat HuxWrx on all of the other metrics I mentioned, plus their Eco-Flow baffles, while not as good as Hux, is still very good at reducing back pressure!
