Those York/ Johnson Controls units are not very used friendly. I talked to tech support a few times about these units. From what I gathered these units are supposed to be programmed at the factory to the specs of the installing company and or the client. I had one that the software was corrupted. I had to download the software on my laptop to a thumb drive and then transfer that into the board. Most of the errors codes were because the sensors, oa,ra, static etc were never installed. I'm glad that I'm retired now because this new technology is great only when it works... good luck!

Definitely not user friendly. I will probably end up talk with tech support once the leak is repaired (If the proposal is approved) Thank you very much for your input. All this new technology just causes many failures. Definitely have errors of sensors that are not even installed. There could Definitely be a software issue here. I'm glad you are also retired. Hope you enjoy it👍 Thanks for watching! 🙏🔧⚡️

Mr., Jumper Man, the wiring on fire detect. systems are supervised circuits. Meaning they must remain in tacked at all times. An open circuit should register an alarm and horn at fire panel. There are major issues if fire trouble alarm did not operate or if it was gagged.
@JumpermanTech
@JumpermanTech 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your advice! Makes sense. The fire alarm relays itself must be hacked because this alarm is not jumped out/bypassed, it is literally disconnected. It would have probably set off alarms. I will make a note of that and speak to the fire alarm company if they approve the proposals here. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️

I don’t know about New York, but in Chicago and surrounding suburbs the fire alarm companies refused to go on the roof maybe it’s just the ones we deal with but it’s either electrician or the heating and air guy that takes care of it. I’ve had to wire them into the RTUs or any HVAC equipment most of the times. They don’t even go on a ladder. Tell you the truth. I hope they don’t get paid that well because he’s Primadonna around here, don’t cut it in my book

My advice is to definitely get into the control side of the trade. Take night course if they are available, I know it sucks and might cost some bucks. However this is where our trade is heading. They still need technician out in the field that's never going to change. This trade like all the others is brutal on our bodies. You can be the guy after a few yrs learning the basics of HVAC control and programming and find a company that's willing to take you on as a apprentice in controls. I've seen it happen for a company I worked for. They valued their employees which is rare now days, but those companies are still out there. I took courses and got a level 5 certification out of 7 levels. Unfortunately for me it was too late, my back is a total disaster and just getting out of bed is an ordeal. I loved our trade and it served me and my family very well. So learn as much as you can and before you know it you can be the guy that can open up a laptop and help your fellow technicians. Best of luck to you!

You could probably go into the settings if I’m not mistaken and close that economizer completely 0% because you don’t need that in the elevator room that’s just minimum fresh air when you’re dealing with like an office or something where there’s a lot of people if you want maximum cooling I’m sure that elevator control room gets hot. I’ve dealt with those rooms before.
@JumpermanTech
@JumpermanTech 2 ай бұрын
Facts. You need fresh air by code in common areas like lobbys & gyms. This room definitely gets hot and an economizer isn't exactly needed here. It would let in a lot of moisture that the AC is fighting against trying to remove it. Wear and tear. Thanks for watching & for your input! 🔧⚡️

That’s the frustrating part of the newer units. They shut themselves down sometimes for simple things on Trane. It’s an outdoor ambient sensor on the York. It could be anything. That’s why I like just pressure sensors for the refrigerant. Maybe amp sensors but let it run.

being a lift motor room you should leave fan on not auto. its there to control temp & humidity. running ac is cheaper than lift components. being a new building there may have been commissioning issues with fire equipment as lifts have fire service switches and can be a real pain on commissioning. definitely note on paperwork for customer to acknowledge to cover your butt. theres also the need for fresh air to pressurize room and shafts to keep dust etc out but not too much as that can cause lift shaft pressure issues,,,, iyk,yk! had issues on a few new buildings that do complete air change everyday at certain times over pressurizing lift shafts and lift doors not closing while change is happening. alot of times things are installed and designed for a reason/s that might not be obvious at the time. look like the metal mesh filter for economizer intake was on the roof over in the corner. could spray deoxit on economizer terminals and connector

Should not need humidity or air quality sensor to run. You could probably relocatee the economizer with some multiconductor cable. Check for continuity on your fire alarm wires, then wire them in to interrupt the enable of the unit by following your wiring diagram

Or is the exhaust duct from the elevator room on the roof that I am now seeing @ 47:58???...I see the inline motor and the power is on at the main disconnect. However, seeing the Building Engineers don't perform their maintenance P.M.'s, i.e. the fan coil, the filters, etc... (super common) My question is, what is their B.A.S. heat-temp set point for the Elevator Room to actuate the damper and trip the fan motor to on? If you can, have them set it for a lower temperature than 77 degrees. Or is it like talking to a wall with the Engineers onsite? :)

Should leave the nitrogen in that circuit 2. Letting it stay flat....allows moisture to intrude on that circuit. At least with positive pressure, air can't enter. Even if you replace the condenser coil, the circuit will be moisture laden whennits flat. Makes vacuum take evn longer and more oil changes on the vac pump. Just food for thought.

York jci units are complete junk. The coils leak constantly and the economizer modules go bad all the time. Guess what when you replace the economizer module its prob gonna have new software version, also guess what it wont then communicate with the main control. Then guess what, you can update the main control board so it will communicate unless the board is a certain type then you must replace the main. Of course they tell you none of this when you get the economizer module.

JumperMan, Where is your video of the coil repair? It was probably a 30-45 minute prep and repair, why not show your coil brazing video? I know it's a very basic repair, but show your repair work, people will watch. Also, learn the differences between a "water cooling tower" and a "water tank"; your words at the start of the roof part will confuse people; explain the major differences to your viewers, similar names - much different things and purposes.

I wonder if allowing the board to re-learn itself maybe would of helped the situation, then again I'm still watch haven't finished video yet....🥷🧰💪

Thats great advice! Thank you for your input and for watching🙏 In the manual it says if it has errors for sensors that aren't used in the system, to change to economizer itself or update the software because if it's not at a certain software, those errors cannot be erased. Such a strange error. Somehow allowing the board to re-learn itself or do some sort of self test sounds like a good idea👍

@@deerams8045 That makes a lot of sense. Good advice. I need to look into that 💯

Those are "ghost errors " you need to run the relearn steps on the board. But won't effect operation
