About the Video:
This video has been tried to show major HVDC equipment in the HVDC terminal station. An HVDC converter station (or simply converter station) is a specialized type of substation which forms the terminal equipment for a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line.[1] It converts direct current to alternating current or the reverse. In addition to the converter, the station usually contains:
three-phase alternating current switchgear
transformers
capacitors or synchronous condensers for reactive power
filters for harmonic suppression, and
direct current switchgear.
HVDC - High Voltage Direct Current
Electric power transmission system uses direct current for the bulk transmission of electrical power, in contrast with the more common alternating current systems. High-voltage direct current (HVDC) lines are used as links in AC transmission systems for several reasons such as stability, economy, and corona loss. It is possible to control the current on the HVDC side by the use of firing circuits of the thyristors used in both rectifiers and inverters.
