@@Chris2k33scopes and optics glare due to the sun hitting it which ends up exposing where you are, the honeycomb reduces the sun from reflecting on you're optic, I think.

I take the honeycomb off unless I need something to hide the glint from my optic. But in a house or cqb it’s better to have a good sight picture than hiding the glint

@@CaedesGladio I wouldn’t be as worried about glint in a close range engagement such as home defense, considering you’re in my house the last thing I’m worried about is the reflection of my optic. Rather, my corners, having adequate lighting (I.E. a mounted flashlight) and easy target acquisition. If your home intruder is 300 yards away, maybe. But for home defense I find a honeycomb redundant. Edit. Misread what you said. And absolutely agree.

How to not see Honeycomb: 1. Two eyes opened 2. Fixate both eyes on the target 3. Close one eye then the other subsiquently opening previously closed eye 4. Your left eye (if your a right hand firer) will see the holographic projection of the sight 5. Train on doing this

Fun fact, non magnified you don’t need to see through your Holo or Red Dot window at all. You paint your target not aim through. Thats why you keep both eyes open.

@@damianchristopher205 well not an ar15. in the army we use M4's the aim point they gave me had a kill flash on it messed up my target focus so i took it off. Plus a kill flash on a cco thats attached to an M4 is kind of pointless.

The only thing the honeycomb really does is make the optic a little darker. Your eye ignores the pattern but the slight amount of light you lose does still darken the optic a bit.

I used to do Épée fencing, where the mask is basically a fancy mesh basket with padding No yeah, you get used to any sorta mesh and stuff, I figure its the same with this, besides they look hella cool and help keep you safe

You can totally block the red dot with tape in the front and as long as you have both eyes open, you are target focused, and you can still see the red dot, you can still use the red dot because of the way your brain combines the two images it gets from both eyes. This won't work with a magnifier but the point is that if you can block out the front of the red dot with a solid obstruction and still be able to use it effectively, you can most certainly use a honeycomb

Its only a problem in video games and cameras because they usually don’t focus correctly past the hexcomb and instead just obfuscates vision. Real eyes can see through it like a microwave door or pulling a shirt over your head and you see through the little holes.

The anti glare on eotech is a coating. It's still reflective and the coating will eventually go away. These also help protect the optic from debris and they do help prevent glare. Just FYI

I used a sing star mic. It happened to fit the diameter of my sight so well It it caught a lip and basically sealed itself in. When I realized I was having such a hard time getting it out I figured why not just keep it in

I can still aim with a holo if it is covered. Two eyes open, your other eye paints the holo over what you see. So a killflash won’t inhibit your ability to see your sight picture unless you’re using improper technique. I am not claiming to be an expert, but I know what I know.

I use red dots for airsoft, and I leave the cover on the front so it doesn't get shot out. Unless you're using a magnifier, you can keep the front covered, and it still works if you keep both eyes open, like you should be doing anyway.

I hate honeycombs because when i was qualifying it was raining and the lense was foggy so i saw two dots and no target. I asked my drill if i could wipe the lense and he screamed at me that im a dumbass private and will break it and walked away. So i failed qual but passed the redo on a sunny day. Asshole drill made me feel like i was a bad shot when he was a bad teacher

I wonder if people understand how to actually use one of these sights anyway 🤔 you should see the projected dot in both eyes as your brain kinda blends it all. With a mag obviously this is different but most ppl dont use a holo or dot like that.
