This makes so much sense. I have noticed that HA actually makes me dry. I live in a dry climate and I sweat very easily. I noticed that when I got the Vichy Hylaounic acid serum that I could use it when the humidity was bumped up on hot yoga and notice my skin was softer. But then that would quickly fade into dryness.

Yes, yes, yes to hyaluronic acid! I have made my own simple serum using distilled water and hyaluronic acid powder for years. This has helped me to tolerate continuing Tazorac and very much minimizes peeling and irritation. I apply the Taz first, wait a few minutes, then apply the hyaluronic acid serum and top it off with moisturizer. Fabulous!

I have recently changed my skin care routine - I’ve started using adapolene for anti aging, and it has really dried out my already dry skin. In the morning on wet skin I apply Hada Labo skin plumping and Cerave tub cream. Once that is dry my sunscreens, and if it is cold and windy, I include a layer of Aveeno moisturizer with dimethicone and petrolatum. At night after washing my face - hada labo, Cerave tub and 20-30 minutes later the adapolene. It’s working! ❄️❄️❄️

Hi Dr. Dray, I love your videos. I would just like to point out some considerations with Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Hyaluronic Acid can damage our skin. HA inside our skin draws moisture down into the dermis keeping the skin hydrated, a great thing. Whereas topically applied HA has huge molecules, too large to penetrate the skin, so it just sits on the surface and attracts moisture. This is where it is misunderstood; it attracts moisture from the air for about 3 hours with temporary moisturization. However, it also draws moisture from inside our skin, thus drying it out and leading to skin problems. There are better solutions such as glycerin in skincare products; it too has moisturizing capabilities far superior to HA. It has smaller molecules, small enough to penetrate the skin and deliver hydration inside the skin where it is needed.

Glycolic acid when used in office as a chemical peel at high strengths and under control can be very good for hyperpigmentation and wrinkles reduction. But in cosmetic skin care, the pH and the strengths are rarely correct to be doing any of that so it mostly acts as a humectant. This pretty much applies to All alpha hydroxy acids actually, e.g. Lactic acid

How many minutes do you wait between applying each product, to ensure its fully absorbed into the skin?

@@redapple2593 I don't wait a specific amount of minutes, I just wait until my skin is dry/sucked up all the products because I don't want to mix products.

Donna Ferguson and Chaotic Spinel , I asked because with sunscreen you have to apply it approx. 20 minutes before going outside but what about the time between each skincare product used. Does the amount of time between the application of skincare products really matter? Would be great if Dr. Dray addressed this question.

Walmart has a pretty new hyaluronic acid serum. Has anyone tried it? It looks pretty good ingredient wise and it’s fragrance free! And it’s not very expensive!! I’m interested in trying it!!

I've not tried it yet but I just bought it today! You referring to the Equate Beauty one in the dropper bottle? I tested it on my hand and it has a basic liquid consistency (not thick whatsoever) and I couldn't detect any fragrance! Just the smell of the products used, i'm assuming- but still not a powerful smell at all. I'm super excited and am hoping to get started trying it in a week!! ♥

the "Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner Plus" is amazing layered under moisturizer. It has 5 or so molecular weights of HA. It has a serumy texture like texture and no fragrance.

Yes please - favorite HA products. I am new to your channel and FINALLY I have found someone who informed and not sells. I am so tired of listening to a 20yo tell me how they get rid of wrinkles. How about you live a full life - that shows up on your face - then tell me how to help my skin. You have such a talent to inform while keeping the info relatable, easy to understand and help us make better decisions. I find myself getting sucked into the “perfect” product and more expensive is better dialogue. Then seeing the Instagram pictures of that brand on a private 🛩🚁🛥🏝 with all the money I wasted. I want to go on vacation (economy class) with good looking skin
