I thought Hybrids were for old men and women than I started to hit one and man was I wrong . I love my HYbrid , I hit it out of the rough , off dirt ground and gets the job done any many condtions .

Nice review. I use a 4 wood, 5 wood , 7 Wood , 9 Wood and recently added an 11 Wood. They really help my game.

Thanks for specifying what type of player (high vs lower swing speeds) you are targeting and trying to be as specific as possible. Being a high swing speed player but very much still an amateur I find videos online about clubs for amateurs get confusing when details of a players swing like that get left out, because it all matters.

Thanks to you guys i have achieved tremendous improvement in my long game/long approach shots by getting g425 nine and seven woods in rotation along with a st max os 4 hybrid. They each have their own time to shine. 7 and 9 go high, hold greens and are easy to keep in fairway or just off. 4 hybrid when I need the ball to stay lower. G425 sft Three wood only when the coast is clear. Golf scores improved just by playing appropriate club at the right time.

Ping G 425 seven-wood is the strongest most consistent club in my bag . Nearly as much distance as my driver.

Another solid comparison! I game G410 3 and 4 hybrids and they’ve been great replacements for my long irons. Because of the tees I play, my approach shots at most may require a 6 or 7 iron (typically 9 or less) so having a high launch FW isn’t completely necessary for me, but I could definitely see the benefits for some people.

I carry both fairway woods and hybrids. They have differing roles. My Cobra F9 5W is really now my 4W ( set at 17.5 degrees and a 3 wood shaft fitted), then I have TS2 7 wood set at 21 degrees. My secret weapon is the Cobra single length 19 degree Hybrid, which is my "go to" club for difficult lies, punch shots and bump and runs near the green. Next I have a Cobra F7 Hybrid set at 25 degrees and a TS2 Hybrid set at 29 degrees./ flat. By choking down and opening the face you can create a lot of different shot shapes and carry distances.

I found that a 6 hybrid (28deg) works great below the 7-wood... the gap is not too big and it holds the green ( higher launch )much better than the 5 hybrid

I know I am a bit late to the comments but I did make the change last season and pulled the out the 4 and 5 hybrids out of my bag and put in the Ping G425 7 and 9 fairway woods and will never go back. For me the constancy of making good contact, the forgiveness when I don't find the center, and my confidence of seeing the height you get from fairway woods has been a game changer. Over the last 5 years I went from long irons knowing I had about a 20% chance of even seeing the ball getting in the air to the hybrids which bumped it up to probably 65% to fairway woods that bumped it up to nearly 100%. I saw a few different videos of you guys making this comparison when fitting and testing. I only wish I had tested it for myself sooner. Why is it you don't see more higher handicap golfers going this route? is it a price thing or do you think everyone is just building a bag to what the Pros have in the bag? Im genuinely curious as my bag has many more head covers and I get some weird looks for it but it works for me and what I see a lot of time would work for a lot of others. I would say the only downside is if you find yourself in the rough off your drive vs the hybrid and have a terrible lye but I would say that is more the exception and so still more chances of reducing your score with more better second shots overall.

Take the mystery out and list the degrees of loft of each of the clubs, so that we can have a fair, "apples to apples" comparison.

My cobra 5 wood is probably my most reliable club, I love my 20* titleist hybrid, I just canned my taylormade 24* hybrid because my 5 iron is dead accurate almost every time and I'll gladly exchange accuracy for 5-10 yards of distance. My 4 iron is the titlest u510 utility iron and is also one of my most accurate clubs I own. I like my 3 wood, super easy to hit with a mid firm shaft, but I'm thinking about buying a new one. So all my long clubs are great, maybe when I get abit older I'll add a 7 and 9 wood, especially for green approach, but for now I have no problem with loft, just accuracy lol.

I was 50/50 using my 4 iron, so, i just recently added a used stealth 9 wood, aint ever taking it out of my bag, 200 yards is now allways possible uphill downhill and acurate!

Just to be clear the higher the spin like in the 9 wood. Does this mean the ball will sit better when the the spin is high? I assume the higher the shot to the green the more it will not get much roll? Thanks

idk why but i tend to fade my woods and draw my hybrids so Im thinking I'll run both a 4 hybrid and a 7 wood depending on what shot I need to make

By the numbers it looks like 9 wood and 5 hybrid are best right? For stopping ability

It would be useful to have seem him flight the 9 wood and or 7 wood. So flight it low with hands ahead of the ball and late whip of the shaft like a tiger woods stinger shot. I think good golfers should be able to flight them down and make them more versatile clubs

Interesting as I was looking for a new 5w and was contemplating replacing my 3h G425 with a 7w. I think you should test a 5w or 4w against the 7w to so whether there is sufficient gapping between the clubs or whether you would be better with a 3h or 4h

I have the ping G425 4 & 6 hybrid and my miss is a big hook, replace my 4 H with an old TM 7 wood and feel much more comfortable hitting 7 wood, is hooking a Hybrid common?

Interesting video but I think you could have given more weight to the fact that the hybrid is so much better out of the rough, sand and uncomfortable lies. It’s also just easier to strike clean because of the shorter shaft and the fact that you just strike it like an iron. For me, those are the big draws of a hybrids, even though I have the mechanics for a wood or long iron. I might be more tempted by a high lofted fairway if I only needed it from the tee or if my driver was dialled-in enough that I was always making long approach shots from the fairway.

Hmm not sure I land on fairways enough to carry the higher lofted woods so lie is more of a problem. The hybrids are so much more versatile as a high handicapper so I carry the hybrid to gap to my longer hitting 3W
