Fun fact: Did you know that after trading with Yancy/Curtis, you can sometimes check a TV and they'll be on an interview in their idol persona, and the Pokémon you traded them will be mentioned? I can't say for Curtis, but for Yancy, she'll say it was given to her by a precious friend.

@@thedashey not just that,fans are pretty parasocial,they'd be dragged through the internet,possibly blacklisted or even stalked or kidnapped probably. I have heard some cases like an underground idol who was found by a crazed fan from a reflection in her eye,he even tracked down her house address and everything because of that one selfie and reflection. Things like sun positioning and all. If i recall he even SA'd her and i think almost killed her. She survived though. Her case is probably more common than people woukd first assume. @@thedashey well,i don't know how it is in the west,but from what i can recall they'd be probably publically shamed,forced to apologize,resign and possibly blacklisted. (Of course including being dragged on the internet) Possibly. Im not sure though,but i do know that repitation will stay forever. Sometimes the 'fans' are so parasocial. There's a case about a idol getting stalked and her crazed fan finding where she lived because of a single selfie,the sun's reflection in her eye was all he used to track down her house and everything. Her case was pretty brutal. Though she survived.

It's because of idol culture. They can't publically date because people need to believe they could date them. They can't have friends outside of work because their fans are supposed to be the most important. In a way, they're so starved for affection that they're willing to date someone they only know over the phone. It's sad.

If you've ever played Hyrule Warriors, that's why Lana is designed after J pop idols too Her role in universe is a sorceress who is supposed to only watch the balance of the triforce and not interfere, but she falls in love with the spirit of the hero through observing the time lines. Destined to be important to the world but never important to the person they want. Similar allegory just more abstracted by the fantasy setting.

@@jacaerys4 *SPOILERS FOR BUNNY GIRL SENPAI IN CASE SOMEONE HASN'T SEEN IT* Yeah, except in that one they eventually went public about their relationship at some point in the middle, and nothing too serious ended up happening, which was really surprising to see knowing how Japan treats it's celebrities. Some fanbases are crazy though, especially in idol culture which it'd appear Curtis and Yancy were considering their attires, which makes it even sadder when you think about how important those small conversations must've been for them.

My brother cosplayed as Curtis last year to give the character more recognition. Knowing Curtis is an idol-in-secret, he practices being in character just so when he goes to conventions on occasions, he wants to be charming like/as Curtis/Christoph. My brother said both Yancy and Curtis are like the Jesse McCartney of Unova.

My brother is a fan of Yancy and Curtis. He wished they were more popular back then in 2012 and Game Freak made their songs into a reality like "Xtransceiver Love" and "I'm Using A Quick Ball On Your Heart" and more solo songs sung by Nancy and Christoph. Last year, my brother cosplayed as Curtis to give the character more recognition. He believes Nate and Rosa are the very first Pokemon characters to have special someones. Yancy and Curtis are very much happy to be with Nate and Rosa; someone they can talk to the most.

@@gwendolin1762 He first discovered the two idols first back in 2022 and learned who they were. He enjoyed Pokemon more than I do. He also wishes the Pokemon community to be more peaceful where they don't have to worry about the FAKE ships that were never true. As of right now, they admitted their errors on how they treated their characters and believe every character, including Ash Ketchum are FOREVER single and spreading the word would hopefully bring peace to the community. The only couples that MATTER are Nate & Yancy and Rosa & Curtis. So in repeat, Nate and Rosa are the VERY FIRST Pokemon characters to have special someones. All my brother ever wanted was to make the community peaceful by persuading many people to believe the ships that they keep seeing are fake and only like Pokemon for what it is on the inside.

@@Pokemaster-wg9gx But my brother is telling the truth. It's pretty much Game Freak's fault or whoever was working on the anime for a long time. They were just manipulating their audience into thinking who wants to be with who. They deceived everyone for far too long. My brother also wished that Game Freak will tell their audience Ash Ketchum is single forever, but they refuse to fix their damages, only making things worse. That's not what Pokemon is about. This is how fake ships and lies were born. And I do not want to start any fights. My brother will persuade anyone into believing what has the series become and he will change Pokemon and bring peace so they don't have to worry anything false and only care about the animals, the journey, the lore, and being with your friends who support you. So it's not too late to change on how you view Pokemon for what it only is. He will continue doing what he believes is right.

He loves Yancy and Curtis a lot, he is doing his best to give them more recognition. Pretty much the many people he persuaded in-person also believes Ash Ketchum is forever single, wanting the shipping wars to come to a close for good. They too also know Yancy and Curtis.

If you turn on the tv in the game when you trade pokemon with them, they’ll say that it’s form a precious or special friend. From what I remember they also get interviews about their love life and they blush on tv, I think they even write a song about you. At least Curtis did when I played lol. It’s been a long time since I’ve played BW2

Nah, there'd be consequences for doing that with Pokemon games. It'd be weird since the protags are always underage outside of spinoffs, and I certainly wouldn't want to be the person running the social media accounts and having to filter through all the concerning messages asking "Datable Vaporeon when?!".

The irony of *HOW* they ended together when Sapphire confessed her feelings to Ruby *PRIOR* to him, "losing his memory", is where this ship sanked. And it's even more ironically hilarious that Franticshippers either TOTALLY ignored this small VERY important detail, or completely MISSED IT, altogether. 🤣 ***SPOILERS*** Long story short, Sapphire literally cheated on Ruby without knowing the boy she cheated on, as well as confessed her feelings of love to, being the VERY SAME BOY that not only SAVED HER when she was little, but is also the SAME BOY that she developed feelings for throughout the course of their journey together leading up to Sapphire's confession. 🤭😆😂 And to add insult to injury, Sapphire EVEN ADMITTED that she LOVED, "the boy" (aka Ruby), more than *THE BOY* that saved her when she was little. Which happened to be the SAME PERSON! RUBY! 🤭🤣😂 So in retrospect, all this time throughout the Ruby & Sapphire arc, Sapphire fell out of love for the boy who saved her when she was little, and loved the boy that she had to compete against for 100 days MORE THAN (her words) than her childhood savior. 😆 Oh, the sweet irony lmfao! Cheatception, anyone? 😆🤣😂 It's no wonder, let alone a surprise that Ruby developed amnesia after the events of the Ruby & Sapphire arc. Sapphire literally did a doozy on him. 🤣

Edit: While this seemed to be the case it turns out this was not true. Fun fact: In the fan game Pokemon Rejuvenation your player character's Mom is Nancy which likely means your father is the Black/White 2 Protag. He isn't present and I believe it's implied or straight up mentioned he died but Nancy is a very strong trainer which would likely come from dating a Champion, especially one in a region that hosts the World Tournament and the player character is very much a talented trainer.

Would you also count Kanto/Johto games Copycat girl (game Duplica) side quests as a ship with Red? RBY games only had male playable character of Red while GSC and HGSS always have Red for the boss battle and the Copycat's parents refer to a boy gifting her the doll that she cherishes

I never knew there was more to this side quest. I found youtube videos about it years ago, and never made it past the 10 phone calls because no one at the time seemed to really know this quest very much. Had no idea there was 50 calls and the whole story made around it. Very interesting indeed

My brother feels for Yancy and Curtis a lot. While enjoying the idol life, they still want a normal life just to take it easy on their lives. They are glad to meet Nate and Rosa; someone they can have conversations with the most, noting He also likes to think Nancy and Christoph were inspired by Vocaloid like Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len. Yancy and Curtis are like the Jesse McCartney of Unova. To give the character more recognition, he cosplayed as Curtis last year, inspiring others to cosplay as the two idols in the future.

For some reason, I was never into LiveCasterShipping ( Curtis x Rosa). I was more into Sequelshipping ( Hugh x Rosa). I like The Childhood Friend to Rival Dynamic more than Normie x Celebrity Dynamic. Edit: Okay, so Normie x Celebrity wasn't the right ship dynamic for LiveCasterShipping. I think Celebrity x Celebrity is the better way to describe that ship. Also in Pokemon Masters Rosa's support did say she going to be an actress. Sequelshipping could be describe as childhood friends to rivals to lovers dynamic.

we are not normies. or at least we should not be. rosa is the greatest movie star to come out of pokestar studios in a generation. and that should have featured in this story. wether they throw in scenes of everything they go through as idols into our experience at pokestar, or we can just talk to them about being a 4000 billion poke movie star and that while our experiences are diffrent they do not have to hide.

i remember when i played BW2 when i was a kid, I was obsessed with this sidequest and i loved curtis and yancy as characters, even as a kid, i realized that they were lonely people bc of their careers, and ultimately wished that they had a bigger role within the game bc of how much i liked their story. i havent played BW2 in forever so seeing this on my recommended is insane lol.

My brother feels for Yancy and Curtis the most. It's not easy being a celebrity. He wished they were more popular back then in 2012 and Game Freak made their songs into a reality like "Xtransceiver Love" and "I'm Using A Quick Ball On Your Heart" and more solo songs sung by Nancy and Christoph. Last year, my brother cosplayed as Curtis to give the character more recognition. He believes Nate and Rosa are the VERY FIRST Pokemon characters to have special someones. Yancy and Curtis are very much happy to be with Nate and Rosa; someone they can talk to the most.

I just want to say that Yancy and Curtis have protagonist aura or energy (to me anyways) around them that I can see them being protagonists in a mainline game. before or after Black and White 2) That I can see people being genuinely surprised that they were in a mainline game in one point or are suprised they are the protagonists for a future region.

Curtis in his idol form kind of looks like Azure Striker Gunvolt, and considering that he likes electric type Pokemon, and that Joule who was Gunvolt's partner was an idol in the Gunvolt series, maybe that was Gamefreak's way of referencing that other game series. Seeing so many people talk so well in regards to Black & White plus their sequels, now I wish that when those games were new in 2010, that I had actually played them as I would have been in Highschool then, but during that time I was getting away from Console and Handheld gaming, as I was focusing on school and in order to socialize I would play on PC and there were a lot of MMOs to play back then, which is why I basically ignored everything that got released between the DSi launches, up until the 3DS era was in its final state with the releases of the XL shortly after Smash 4 had come out, and even though I had tried playing Pokemon X when I had gotten a 3DS then, I felt that I had kinda grown out of Pokemon, and it didn't help that the people at work who also played it, were freaking EV trainers that devoted their lives to making the perfect Pokemon, and after getting my ass handed to me by Greninjas with Protean, or the famous 1 hit KO Noiverns, it just killed any sort of interest I could have gotten for Pokemon again, since I wasn't willing to devote so much time to playing a silly game just to get perfect rolls for my Pokemon.

@@JellifiShugo Good to know then, I haven't been a Pokemon fan in the last decade and a half, the last DS game that I played being Diamond, and since that game got stolen and ruined a friendship, its one of the reasons why I stayed away from the series, but I guess its Gunvolt himself who was inspired then, unless it was total coincidence by both dev teams to make such a similar character, since apparently Gunvolt was supposed to be inspired by Seiryu the Azure Dragon of the East.

Though both of them never appeared in the anime , yancy made her appearance in adventures manga of b2w2 in the starting scene.Thats why i love adventures manga it brings many items and character that go unnoticed in anime and games to life.An example of that is fame checker in fRLG arc and most importantly the POKEDEX which noone pays so much attention to.

My brother is a fan of both Yancy and Curtis. The only way for the two idols to be remembered again was he cosplayed as Curtis and he surprised everyone at the Pokemon cosplay gathering. He inspired everyone to hopefully cosplay as Yancy and Curtis in the future. If ever Game Freak wants voice acting for Yancy and Curtis, my brother wishes Alyson Stoner (known to voice Isabella from Phineas and Ferb) voices Yancy and Jesse McCartney (voiced Roxas and a few cartoon characters) voices Curtis.

How awful! My brother disliked how the manga made Nate that way. If anything, we would loved to see Nate and Yancy go on an official date, that way the manga would present it better. Rosa and Curtis too. Pretty much they did Yancy dirty. It left a bad taste on everyone who read that page.

Reminds me of Red x Blue, LuckyShipping. Blue constantly flirted with Red and caused him problems. Despite this, he would go out of his way to help her when she was in trouble. When she was at her lowest point, she revealed that she was jealous of him (and Green). There were subtle hints at what effect Red had on Blue. For example, she started giving her Pokémon nicknames. Previously her kidnapper forbid her from doing so as that would establish a bond. In following arcs, she would play crucial parts in helping Red. Being the first to notice he went missing, lending her Pokémon to him, or talking him out of his lowest point. When Green was unavailable, Blue was the first person Red called for help in Hoenn. They make an excellent battle duo. And Red's attraction to Blue was still present. A lot of people overlook these moments, but I can't blame them. Many people only look at things from a surface level and don't read in between the lines.

4:52 leaves a question without answer. Someone, prefixed as ‘Ma’ is cut off without being clarified . Yancy *and* Curtis (check Chugga’s play through, they both mention the same person) are not referring to their manager. Yes, calling your boss a coworker is technically correct, but unnecessary when you could go with “my manager”. Same thing with the possibility of Ma being ‘mama’. Doesn’t make sense for a person with a title like ‘master’ be mentioned either. The word ‘manager’ itself is mentioned fully as you enter Nimbasa. Enter Joint Avenue, and the owner hires you. Manager is mentioned at the end of the sentence just like Ma, yet no capitalisation. “Ma-“ truly has to be someone, by real or stage name. I’m thinking pseudonym given Yancy/Curtis pause themselves before they introduce under their alias. [2:32] So who is this person? If chances are that “Ma-“ isn’t masking a person’s actual name, there are only four NPCs in B&W2 (listed under Bulbapedia) that have one starting with that prefix: Marlon, Marshal, Maylene, and the Magikarp salesman. Don’t think it’s Maylene; given other regions and that they primarily work in Unova, but it is possible given Yancy/Curtis both travel to different regions. The salesman just sounds wrong since that’s more title based than an actual name. While league responsibility does have an impact, Brycen also did acting along with being a gym leader. Also a solid candidate, but including him involves the possibility that Ma is the start of a stage name; opens the window wide open and makes narrowing down nearly impossible at that point. Personally I think Marlon would make the most sense, given his inclusion in just that game alone; and his rather new appearance like Roxie with little lore around him or development. It would at least give him something. Who knows? Maybe translated versions show that “Ma-“ is referring to their mother or manager, and I spent nearly an hour researching something that ultimately ended up being for nothing. Could be possible leads through the television segments or npc dialogue drops of any nickname/stage name, but getting this point across has been exhausting enough. If any of this does intrigue; I would love to see a future video/comment with answers- or at least explaining the rabbit hole.

There's one other thing you haven't mentioned about these two celebrities. If you watch the TV (celebrity category) after a certain point during this quest, you may have a chance to see one of the two celebrities talking about you. For me it was the interviewer noticing them being more happy than usual, which the celebrity replied it may be because of a recent encounter.
