I'm working on a multi-step glass sculpture of a hydrangea cluster. I've had this envisioned for several months and it's finally coming together! The petals were made using a form of Pate de verre I learned in a class taught by Emma Varga in January 2024. The leaves were made using glass powder and fine grind glass frit on the metal NatureScape molds, and shaped using random molds and even sidewalk chalk. The center core was created using the Freeze and Fuse technique. If you aren't familiar with that process, I mixed powder and fine frit with water, packed it into a small silicone bowl and froze it, and then fired it (right out of the freezer.) I wanted it hollowed out to be able to set it on my paper towel holder for assembly, so when it was cast, I had a piece of egg-shaped chalk in the center. It worked perfectly!
The flower petals and leaves are Bullseye glass. Petals are made of Neo Lavender Opal and Periwinkle (centers.) The leaves were Pea Pod powder and Spring Green fine frit. Also used some clear powder on the leaves.
