Christy's commenting rocks, I loved hearing her input. That hydraulic box blade is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I would imagine in weeks time a person could get so good with one of those he could smooth the surface of moon. I just want to say, TTWT is not only a place I come to be educated in small tractors and the latest in cool implements and accessories, but a place I can come to escape this nasty world. I’ve watched this video about four times building up the courage to take my box blade to my 350/400 feet of driveway. You sure made a LandPlane look worth buying. Still thinking about size for my 1025R. Keep up the informational yet realistic videos, I’ve learned a lot. Thank you both.

I grew up having to deal with a 2A limestone driveway, close to the length of the one you're doing. Every now and then, we always had to have my uncle bring his dump truck and deliver some more stone. Seeing the tandem efforts of the box blade and land plane could've saved us some money over the years.

Nice thing about farm size tractors is you can use the draft control which automatically varies the 3 point depth according to load. We had a Massey Ferguson 65 that was ahead of it's time in this regard in the 1960's. Of course the larger John Deeres also had a different variance of it. Oops, that just dated me.

Your wife does an excellent job. Also, I loved the Kubota orange implements. They would go great with my L3901.

Tim, you were worried about the box blade digging in while backing off the trailer. What I always do is lower the jack on the trailer where it picks the weight of the truck up and lowers the back of the trailer

I have a 970 JD set up like yours. And an 18 foot car hauler trailer. I have the same problem with unloading and loading that the box blade scrapes the ground so I bring boards with me that I put under the ends of the ramps to make them not so steep. Great video!

I hate to fuss, but at the end, the first thing I noticed was Kristy was setting on the land plane. It was lifted in the air a bit and her foot was in between the cross beams. I was thinking she should not set there unless the thing was resting on the ground. That would be better than resting on her foot. But it was a great video and I enjoyed hearing her comments. I enjoy most of you videos and I guess I could do binge watching if I had time. Love your channel.

I too love my Quick Hitch but I use my Bolt on Hooks and chain on my loader to move implements. So much quicker and easier!!

Those attachments looks nice and seem to do a great job of finishing the driveway the way the owner wants it and I have a box blade and have the blades for digging removed and can't find them now when I really need them to dig up the soil since I want to level up the ground in my yard again. I have not done it in years and wish I had done a better job of keeping up with those steel tines when I removed them from my box blade.

When you are talking at the 8 min. mark, it looked like your pin on the left side was coming out. Great video.

This video is prefect timing for us. We are using our box scraper with scarfires and I'm not really sure when and when not to use the scarfires. I seem to just make a mess but I guess practise will help ha.

I have the BB2060 box blade. I have no problems filling the box with the weight of the FEL, 60" Deck, and 70lb wheel weights. Since I do not have loaded tires, yet, I'm using the deck for weight. I also have the hydraulic scarifiers with JD's rear remote.

That is a really cool box blade. It looks more advanced than Frontier for my 2025R Johnny. It’s the hydraulic scarefyer that I’m interested in by Tuffline. Good demonstration Tim. God bless you two.

the first time we get the scarifiers... we set them all the way down and then we understand why its not really usefull because a lot of time, we end up mixing the lower layer that could be old concrete blocks, old bricks, big rocks, or even a fabric!. nowadays, I run the scarifiers maybe 2 inch max, enough to mix everything on the top, I just run several passes. the box blade you got is really nice.

I'm impressed, we have a 1025R and sure didn't think it was capable of doing that. I use a Kubota L5740HSTC or M8540HDC with a LP HR3584 on our driveways and roads and that little 1025R does as good a finish. We have to have the bigger tractors anyway, but if we didn't...

Id suggest getting a 2way radio so he can tell you what he's doing and vise versa over a hands free radio setup, seems be good also for safety. Good 👍 videos 📹! Thank You,

Tim, Enjoy all your videos of the 1025r and 2038r. I have a 1025r and a Land Pride GS0560 land plane. I agree wheel weights are a must for these attachments. Lucky I picked up a set of 50 lb weights for $5 at an auction. Back to the land plane, one thing I don’t really like about the Land Pride is the way the teeth are adjusted. I should have taken a look at a Woods GSS54. Only two manufacturers I found with scarifiers.

Right there is where the Tip and Tilt really comes in handy. I adjust box teeth so it only dig down 5 inches to loosen rock. What happens, teeth pulls up rock, tilt box blade backward smooths out the rock. No rock is pulled along. Got Land Pride 6 foot, 7 teeth, 857 pounds, works like a charm.

Always great videos. Thx. I would highly recommend that you get a gimbal (steady cam) for your camera. They are inexpensive and you could easily change shot locations and the image will be always steady and controlled. You could even walk behind the tractor. The gimbal base usually has a tripod mount so you can rest it quickly if needed.

hi tim love your vids my boy watches you a lot he is 29 diesel mechanic , i have a 430 with a 4' box scraper love it i have the hole box full at times it pulls it , but it takes a lot of weight wheel and suit case , our problem is not power its traction we have more of a lug tire than you have , i did a 2' deep water way around my boys house and garage worked great love that 430 , boy and i built a front end loader for it, had it powder coated . boy wants to get a 1025r . thanks for the vids tim dean

If you get to try this new HD box blade on Johnny 2, have you thought about adding a Top & Tilt kit? T&T can really make a box blade sing with on the fly center and side link adjustments.

The landplane worked perfectly.

the blades on the land plane are angled to push material one way to help create a crown. A flat driveway will deteriorate much faster.

A land leveler for gravel driveways works great, I always prefer a land leveler over a box blade

I might buy the rear blades to go behind the front ones so you can push material going backwards.

I do a lot of driveways with my sub compact. I’ve found that this size tractor is ideal because they can get in and out and turn easily. Plus easier to work around traffic areas. I will say if your too light pulling even with rim guard which I am a lot of times just throw a little gravel in the bucket and ull pull twice the weight without wheel spin.

You need a 40 horse ...a 5 ft box blade is a load for a 40 horse tractor . I like to pull a fully loaded box blade and I don't use the ripers unless I have alot of dirt on top of the gravel or there are pot holes holding water....good video .

I like the hydraulic scarifier option. It is somewhat of a pain to adjust them for different conditions. However, I found using my box blade with the “top and tilt” on the 3 point hitch does offer a lot of flexibility even using with the scarifiers. It also helps with final leveling. For final leveling, the land plane is hard to beat. Nice job on the video...could be sub titled “Christy gets a work out!” Blessings!

Story time! I have a 750 foot gravel driveway that I have to maintain. When I got my first tractor (1023E) I got an older 5 foot box blade with mechanical scarifiers. It’s a great tool for this kind of job, but I have to say that I suck fairly extremely at using it. I always seemed to get too much material in the box and found it hard to distribute evenly. I also found that when I lifted the three point to release some of the material sometimes I would lift it too high and dump too much material, creating a hump. If I had to drive over the hump on my next pass it could cause the box blade to dig in. This takes a lot of practice and can be frustrating I’ve found. Like I say I suck at it! Several months ago I bought a land pride gs1548 land plane and what a difference. As you’ve said Tim, the learning curve if way simpler and I’ve found that the finished job is nicer. My land plane has scarifiers and I find it will do anything I would do with the box blade on my property. If I need to move material instead of spreading it, I usually use the loader anyway. Also it was nice to see and hear what Christy has to do while filming these awesome videos, and it shows how much editing has to be done...a little hint as to how much work you both have to put into these videos. So thank you for all the hard work you put into this channel. Over the years you’ve taught me a lot and cost me a lot of money! Lol...now I have a 1025R TLB, and an attachment addiction!

The drive way looks a lot better since you got the gravel pulled up and then leveled off and you were right, he did not need any more rocks. Good job.

I never did like the floating blade on the back of a box blade or box scraper, one that I had I actually bolted it clear through to the front inside blade and then left the front front blade about 2 inches up and then you can use it for a float... you can float with the box plate also going in circles... blends in feathers it out pretty level and then making a few straight passes afterwards if you have enough width currently I have a 6 foot box blade that’s been amazing I’ve had it around 25 years and still using it on my 4310 John Deere, I also had a Gannon bucket that had would roll over to reverse directions and/or drop the rippers only in the downward position, etc. ... that was back in around 1975.

I need to get one of those iMatch units. I go crazy constantly changing implements. For whatever reason, my rotory cutter is the worst to connect and disconnect.

Do you have a nice heavier duty ball head on your tripod? Those are just the ticket for super fast camera angle adjustments. Add an Arca-Swiss quick release plate to the system so you can pop the camera on and off the tripod's head in a jiffy as well.

After the grading process. It really should be compacted.

Hydraulic top link works better! Tip bucket forward to get shanks engaged and tilt back to fill box blade. A hydraulic top link is a must for a box blade.👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

i have a b 2320 kubota all the attchments are real old, i got quick hitch like pat`s quick hitch,only cheaper,$108.00.only picks up the bottom then you have to attach top link.works fine for me.

Don’t be worried about the 5’ box blade.I’ve borrowed the neighbors. Its an EIGHT footer. I stripped off the scarifiers, and it pulls it great. It drops pretty fast though. But man it makes short work of everything being twice as wide as the 1025!

I haven't commented in a while but that doesn't mean I'm not watching! I like Christy's comments as they add interest to these videos. If you lenghten the trailer ramps loading with rear attachments will be easier. I think you need radio comunication so Christy knows what's on Tim's mind. I really enjoy and learn from your videos. Tim, Try to get ahold of a screening bucket/ drum. See if someone makes one for a sub compact tractor. Like flip screen bucket. - google it. This would be nice renovating driveways that have dirt mixed in with the gravel and want to sift the fines / dirt out of the crushed stone. Find one and make a video PLEASE!

Try a monopod. You will have to hold it, but it will keep the camera steadier without adjusting all the time. As long as you hold it still that is.

I love your videos. Love the camera crews comments also. Sure adds more of a human touch. And the scripture at the end of the videos are awesome. You may not want to say on here but what would you charge to do a driveway like this one. That's what I struggle with. I don't have a land plane or a box blade but would like to get one to supplement my income in the winter. I live in the high desert of Colorado and can usually work every month of the year if I watch the weather. Our ground seldom freezes. I'd appreciate any info you could provide.

All ways put out orange cones. You can definitely see the difference in cars speeds when they pass you. Not all. But even if 30 cars slow down. That much easier on the mind.

Christy how about some Welker Farms camera setups? That way you can grab some shots from the point of view of Tim, the land plane, loader, and anything else. Also, use your Bwise Trailer. Put the loader up on gooseneck and have more room. Then you have lower angle of takeoff. I almost have finance committee convinced to let me get one.

You had the right tool with the box blade. You would have been fine without using the digging tines if you had tilted the box front edge down to scrape up the small rocks and then tilt it back to smooth them out. IMHO digging with the tines down was a mistake. Those big rocks need to stay at the bottom. Using the digging tines will always do this. So no need for the land plane. Don't give up on the box blade. I have found it is the most versatile and useful attachment I have.

Try Texas heat wave 100 degrees + 10 degrees heat index! I like that Land plane.

It might help to set a couple of cones at the end of the driveway. It should get traffic to slow down a little.
