I just need to say, as a professional in the irrigation industry for 11 years, and as a hobbyist electronics engineer, the fact that most older model controllers can be retrofitted with Hydrawise faceplates is impressive. Rainbird hasn't managed to achieve that and I don't understand why. If the LIMR remote is capable of running a zone then there is no reason I can think of that the LNK module shouldn't be compatible with all Rainbird controllers with a remote port, yet it isn't compatible with any controller that isn't "WiFi Ready". How silly. I really think it could be, but Rainbird's engineers seems to have decided that it isn't worth the effort. Shame. If all it takes to activate a zone is some signal injected in to the remote port's pins then a module could be built that is compatible with every controller, but for some reason Rainbird decided not to do that. Maybe they thought they would sell more controllers that way? Is this a planned-obsolescence thing? It kinda seems that way. Well done Hunter, and thank you for selling controllers with a WiFi module built in to the unit instead of being an additional purchase. An ESP8266 is like $5 - Rainbird should put one in their controllers instead of charging $100 for that addon.
