Here is a face-off between the HydroBlu Versa Flow and the Sawyer Squeeze. We bought the Vera Flow first primarily because it was cheaper and it has worked ok but it has seemed to me to have a slow flow rate. So we picked up a Sawyer Squeeze to have something to compare it to and in my initial uses of it, it DID seem faster. this test seems to show taht they are pretty close however!
SQUEEZE TEST
Versa Flow = 52 seconds
Squeeze = 56 seconds
GRAVITY DRIP TEST
Versa Flow = 3:20
Squeeze = 2:31
The differences could have something to do with air pressure so its hard to be certain. If someone knows what i may be doing wrong please let me know.

Hey great video brother! Also, that little blue adapter is a back flush adapter so you can back flush with a smart water bottle and not have to carry around that bulky syringe. Thats what I use it for 😉.

Nice! I didn't know that initially but i noticed in a picture on Amazon they were using it that way. I was like.... oh!! So far i haven't gone on a long enough trip to need to backflush it while im out. Thanks for the pro tip!! 👍

Great comparison! Loved the timers. 👍 We have some Sawyer Squeeze but never use them. I for some reason always carry too much water on day hikes and never need to refill. 😁 Excellent job. 💪💪💪

I actually thought the sawyer would blow the hydroblu away!! I was shocked it didn't. I've only used them on trail a few times but they're pretty handy! Hey thanks for watching and commenting!! We appreciate it!!

Fixed bottle always vapor-locks. Fair test requires both open flow, because HydroBlu was likely slowed by the vapor-lock too? Maybe use two Vecto's? An empty (no air) clean-water Vecto won't lock-up, for example?

Yes i agree there is some sort of air issue there. I've found that if I just loosen the clean bottle as much as possible while it still hangs on to the filter I get better flow rate. I may have tightened to much in these tests. These kinds of "real-world" tests can be difficult to set up and get repeatable accurate results! Still fun to try though!! @@ItsEverythingElse - When flow slows/stops due to air back-pressure (as the Squeeze demonstrated), it's called a "vapor-lock." The Squeeze freezed. HydroBlu may have been partially vapor-locked as well. Test involved releasing Squeeze's pressure. My original point was that HydroBlu should've been opened-up to ensure there was no back-pressure in it either. Backing-off the thread an 1/8th to 1/4-turn on HydroBlu ensures open, non-vapor-locked flow.

So you said that you have never been sick. This maybe a dumb question but here goes. Do these filters advertise that they take out bacteria out of the water? Or do they just take out sediment and other stuff?

Hey Bill! Yes they remove bacterias from the water and sediment but you want to try to keep the sediment to a minimum as it'll clog the filter! There are some that will remove viruses but that's normally only an issue if you're out of the country!
