Wow bro, this is a very well thought out system. I absolutely love how you have set this up. I am a plumber by trade and I absolutely get how you have thought this through. Love the supply pipe split, so as to to lesson the pressure of the pump. Superb!!

Brandon..thanks so much for the videos. I too have studied mhpgardener and have had some of the same questions and without the greenhouse yet I mentally had switched over to your new system. Glad to see that it works. I would recommend getting a shade cloth for the top for when it gets hot. Continue having fun, my best to you. Lafe

This is closer to a recirculating deep water culture (RDWC) than a dutch bucket. Thanks for the idea about the pump loop, I have a RDWC system and have been having pressure problems.

If you playback at slow speed, at around 8:57-9:01 you can see some flashes of a wooden A frame supporting the system. It looks so good!

great job Brandon ,one thing tho, in my past hydroponic system i learned that leafy veggies is better to be running it's own resiovour just because it eats in a different rate than bushy plants like tomatoes, even mixing tomato, i had great success doing lutes and basil with only 500 ppm , but tomatoes love it better for yield if it's 1200 ppm . just a thought

Wow Brandon! That was an awesome demonstration! You should teach classes. I paid 300.00 to a guy who taught a class out here in Austin Tx. There was about 14 other people in my class as well. I learned alot about aquaponics with Talapia fish. The fish waste becomes the nutrients for the plants. I would easily pay 300.00 to attend your class and get a parts list with instructions on where to go to get whats needed. Your idea to use those plastic fence post is absolutely brilliant!!! You made my day with that! Thank you! Thank you ! Thank you! For your videos!
@BrandonMatthewHB9 жыл бұрын
Thanks A M! Appreciate the comments. I would enjoy teaching a class, and have thought about it, just don't know where to start or who to advertise to attend. I'll have to look into it a bit more. Feel free to ask any questions about other parts/supplies you may need.

Hey Brandon- yes you are a natural trainer... when I get a little free time to write and publish training in this I may contact you and a few others I love to learn from. I am a retired instructional designer and tech writer. I just went back to school to get certifications in the electronics end of this stuff.... going full time until May 2018. I am a newbie to hydroponics, having only had one system setup years ago indoors (very small scale) - had to dismantle it when I moved. My spring session is a real life project and hydroponics is it. I am not choosing one system over another as there are so many options and such varied life situations - want something for everyone. Have you an email contact you can post here? Thanks May

Awesome setup Brandon! Great idea going to the black buckets and closing the loop on the flow of nutrients to the NFT and Dutch Buckets was impressive. How are things developing. Patiently waiting for an update. I'm revamping my setup and will be building my own greenhouse. How did you build your stand for the NFT? I had some success last season using the Masterblend for cucumbers, squash, banana peppers, etc., but your setup is neat and well organized. Keep us posted.

Such a nice setup.
@anothersoulja33747 жыл бұрын
awesome idea. doing something simpler to my green house. but a suggestion for ya. though and air pump on your buckets. putting more o2 into the water will allow the plants to have more nuts. and also the root just love o2. for example. the water may have 500 to 600 ppm. doesn't mean the plants are taking it in. so throwing and air pump on it.will allow them too. and also keep the water a little cooler then the out side are for those hot days

I like the changes to the dutch bucket system Brandon. I will be surprised if the roots still don't find their way through that net cup card into the drainage system. I ended up with with 3 feet of roots outside of the 3" net cups that I bought for my wicking system. Seems like they will find a way out! Chuck

I just stumbled across your video and man does your system look just like mine. I have a plastic dome that is 14X7X7 with five open windows on both sides, I have 15 dutch buckets being fed by a 30 gallon reservoir that I try to feed with mastergardener blend each time I refill with water or at least once per week. I have a fan that runs all the time, just to move air. The problems I have had is that I need to feed a minimum of once a week, and if I add 75% water every two days, maybe I need to feed more. I live in Colorado and our nighttime temps are cool, daytime temps are high like 90-100 degrees, so I leave my dome widows open all the time with fan running and that might be a mistake. My tomato plants are huge, both in the size of the stems and the height, (to the ceiling and back to the floor) but I don't have tomatoes turning red, though I have a ton of small tomatoes set on. So I don't know if I am under feeding, over feeding, under watering (1 hour 3 times a day) or if they have just bushed out so much that I don't get enough sun. I'm using Mastergardener for tom and veg at a min of once a week, or every time I need to replenish my 29 gallon reservoir. Any ideas? I think my plants are so big that I can't get enough light and I need to trim them down. Also, maybe there are too many plants in my small space and the leaves are just robbing the other of sunlight. I love your 4" drain pipe idea and I would like to try that, just not sure if I have enough sun light to make it work due to the suns' location of my project high tower house. Any ideas?
