Absolutely wonderful presentation. Having construction experience myself, I loved that you did not waste my time and got right to it. This is the best layout I have come across and I will implementing the same. Yes, I am using glue for my end caps. Again, great job.

I found the same problem with cutting the holes. It almost jerked my arm off when the hole saw teeth hit the PVC. I then did all my holes with drill in reverse and it worked really nice. My pipes came with a solid strait line of writing down the length of the pipe. I used that writing line to drill my strait lines for the holes. Great videos! Thanks.

Nice. I did this back in the early 90's in a greenhouse but wasn't sure about the plants picking up any chemicals from the pipe so I didn't eat any veggies out of it and just grew flowers after that. That was before KZfaq or the internet, for me, and got a range of answers from people I asked. I didn't do hydroponics but a soilless mix and it worked great. Good job.

Good job, Bobby, thanks. I like the electrical uni-rail use allowing adjusting the clamps vs. as you say, cutting half circles in wood which can never be moved. Great drill technique- start the holesaw's pilot hole clockwise and then switch directions and 'burn' through the pvc in reverse on your main net pot hole leaving no burrs.

Love the glue rant. I see this argument and my eyes roll back in my head. Ive had dozens of aquariums plumbed with glued pvc, no problems. The water I drink is supplied by glued pvc, I think Im still alive. PVC is friggin' glued, get over it. 😆

Taking notes: * 4” Schedule 20 PVC, which is cheaper than schedule 40 * 2 3/4 inch hole saw for 3" net cups. (do pilot hole in forward, but drill hole in reverse) * 10” between net cups, 6” from end * sand edges of holes * include inspection hole * If multiple rails, stagger holes * Glue end caps if they leak when dry fit

I use a 3 inch wire brush on the drill to clean the burs. Much quicker and cleaner result. Also use silicon and hot glue instead of PVC cement/glue.

Looks good. Another dry fit option that I've had success with is to wrap Teflon tape around the edge of the pipe. 2 or 3 overlapped wraps about an inch or so wide. Cap fits snug and no leaks. I've got 2 four foot chicken waters set up that way. Only leaks are from the nipples.

I looked into the type of PVC you mentioned for grow channels. Many came with Prop 65 warnings since they were not intended for use in the food chain. It's something to look into before you buy and verify the pipes you decide on are safe for your intended use. Best of luck to you.

Drain end has 2 holes and 90degree tubing couplers draining Into a gutter..in the spring i have a GIANT QTIP/BOTTLE BRUSH MADE FROM 12 ft of 1/2" dia PVC TUBING with a T Shirt wadded up and tied on one end..i dip my Qtip in hot soapy bleach water and swap the pipes like cleaning a rifle barrel then run the closed system a while with clean water..then drain. Add plant cups and nutrient solution. Thats it.

If you lower one side of your table to almost ground level an adjust the pipes to level, that design would make all the plants easier to reach and also reduce the sq ft of floor space used. id love to see what that looks like on your setup

I dont know what UPC is for different states but for pennsylvania potable water systems are mandatory copper. The copper potable water system are held together with solder. So if you have used PVC or any kind of PVC for potable water you have just mixed up code for DWV (waste water from toilets ect...)

Great video. I bought a kit online and I'm looking at the size of those tubes and the size of yours and others and I'm thinking that they are too small especially considering the rate the water is going through the system. I will look to see if you posted a video of your system more advanced. There are a lot of struggles in my system at the moment lol. I suppose that is with everyone starting out. I have the diligence and tenacity to keep moving forward and always think of the next solution. You gave me many things to think about and I thank you. Blessings!
