So many good things to say about hydros so far. About to set it up on a third tank. Only issue ive had is a heater turning off on a frag tank due to wifi power bar not reconnecting to wifi. Honestly my fault for using critical hardware on the wifi strip. Luckly didnt lose the tank. Love that they partnered with Kamoer for the dosing pumps as well.

It’s recommended if you have spotty WiFi or use mesh systems, to use the hardwired options (ie XP8 or the new Launch module). Been running hydros for 3 years now with no issue with WiFi bars…but also use hardwired as I like the power management feature to let me know when equipment may be failing

One thing I learned from Carlos is that WiFi signals can't cross through water, so moving mine to have a direct "line of sight" made all the connection issues go away.

Just note that the PH/ORP does not use the same connector as the temp probe.

What I want to see from your series, Mark, is how in depth and advanced you can go with a hydros. Leave the basic setup and configuration that everyone else does to Jimmy, that's what his series should be for. From your series, I want to know how Hydros compares to the advanced programming features its major competitor allows you to create - can I run a mixing station with multiple solenoids, timed events, and turning different pieces of hardware off and on? What kind sequences can I program when leak sensors, or temp sensors, or ph sensors alert? Can I push a button somewhere in the app and have it do a bunch of things for me? That's what I want out of your series. Assume your viewers are familiar with the basics, or can easily get up to speed, and give us the advanced goodies.

I use hydros to manage literally end to end of making RODI water to auto water changes. With Hydros, I have Hydros TDS meters which control whether to shutoff solenoid valves once values go over 1 TDS in product water…I have hydros float valves for containers as well as optical sensor above that for any potential over fill as a redundancy if float were to ever fail….I could go on but you get the idea…on the on/off front…hydros allows for advanced programming with such combiners as AND & OR as simple toggle of a menu on front end…reason why other controllers need programming on back end is because their front end GUI isn’t as powerful as Hydros

I can't get the Hydros to connect to the internet because I have 5.0 instead of a 2.4 system

2.4ghz is required...and my suggestion for that would be to pick up an Access Point to create a new network, only for your aquarium equipment. That way the 5ghz of your home can stay the same, but a new 2.4 network is forged for the aquarium. Make sure to check out our online user manual where we write about this and include step by steps for a NETGEAR AP.
