Alan you don't understand what ERX is meant to solve for. ERX doesn't try to compete with BEV trucks. The 75 miles on battery power is a nitch thing for city traffic however the focus is on the long haul. EX saves money in ways that only ERX does outcompete it for new purchases but with old trucks running longer then EX is an option for fleets. EX is not just to solve for torque issue on the 12L from CNG. That was something that HYLN advertised because they saw an opportunity. Fleets with diesel would benefit from EX in fuel savings and less pollution on running engines on idle during overnight stops. This PR was around HYLN you spend 1/2 of time talking about Cummins and Meritor and speculating about HYLN being bought by Cummins. TH is too nice, too nice to have you checkout the ERX.

Sucks to hear someone deep in this industry thinks Hyliion has a big hurdle ahead due to Cummins acquisition of Meritor bc I love Hyliion and also a stake holder.

Why did you repeatedly say that it runs on natural gas? At no point is the truck propelled by natural gas. It is running on electric 100% of the time, it then just depends if the generator is on or not as to whether you are burning natural gas. It’s subtle but significant and perhaps explains why you are underestimating the brilliance of this idea for long haul trucking. Electric trucks and FuelCell trucks going 1000 miles is 10 years away at least

Yeah I agree…he is misleading people in his statement. I feel like this was more of a promotion for Cummins than HYLN.

Great insight. Thank you! ERX could be a game changer. It runs fuel agnostic with onboard generator that can run on NG or H2. The problem here is ..lack of visibility on the revenue.

Love freightwaves. Tim and Craig are amazing! Alan did a fantastic job on his Hyliion articles. He gets it. Will definitely be interesting to see how this all plays out. Cummins knows that Hyliion is a threat, and may want to take them out before it’s too late. Would make more sense business wise to partner or acquire them. We shall see..

The ERX does not run on natural gas. It charges the on board batteries as it drives. The 75 miles comes in when the generator is turned off and goes on battery reserve. Hard to believe at this stage how.. .

You're nitpicking. The presenter was fine, he mentioned that the ERX can potentially hit 1k miles between refills

@zeazi it's important to note at what drives the truck to get to 1000miles, which is electric generated by CNG. That's like calling Tesla, powered by coal just because where do you actually get the electricity in the grid? Burning coals.

The ERX will definitely have its place in this industry. I’m not worried about this tech. I’m more concerned about Cummins playing dirty.

I have a feeling Cummins will try and squeeze HYLN out of the market or buy for a cheap price, HYLN is a big threat to them as their new engine is not going to be powerful enough. HYLN need to find alternatives.
