Great to see class 35 Hymek, D7076 back in service after, being out of use for 5 years for repairs to her engine.
Seen at the East Lancashire railway, diesel gala. 30th June 2023

Well done. Very stylish little locos. Imagine, in a world dominated by western region, a fleet of 500 or more instead of big builds of, say, classes 31 and 25.

I can just about remember this class in my childhood one being sitting in my uncles car outside the entrance to Westbury rail station and saw one on a ballast hoppers train with a shark van at each end, I also saw another hymek at freshford on a passenger train with the same uncle

I think the MTU repowered Class 73s are a modern Hymek as their engines are of similar size and Maybach became part of MTU (both owned by Daimler Benz until Rolls Royce bought MTU). In addition, Great Western's MTU repowered HSTs were the successor to the Maybach hydraulics on the Western Region.

5:25"Weight tons 75"; shows the advantage in power to weight ratio of a hydraulic. A Class 37 of slightly higher power rating is about 107 tons, though that is an advantage for freight working. 8:20good to see that Prince Harry 🦰 is making himself useful as a guard at the East Lancs 😂

I know the Hymek is hydraulic propelled, but didn't know that they only worked under water! 🙂 - - Very smokey exhaust, is that because it needs fine-tuning of the injectors?

Good to see that Hymeck back in harness, sounds really well. I noticed when it was hauling the chocolate and cream coaches all the usual "nodding dogs" had their heafs out of the door drop windows...why do they DO that? Apart from looking stupid it is also potentially DANGEROUS...one of these days someone is going to get there head knocked off...literally!

@@AndreiTupolev Speaking as a Railwayman I have seen the stress and trauma that STUPID action causes. If you value your life you wouldn't do it. I can just see your epitaph, "He died because he wanted to stick his head out of the window...and didn't see the tunnel wall, bridge wall, train in opposite direction..." Rail guys in High-Vis shout at you for YOUR SAFETY, not because they are being "gestapo" like...🙄
