Love that frame have one myself! Keep up the great work! Right now I am restoring a 49cc Four stroke and it ran pretty decent. I was thinking of putting it on my hyper But my two stroke just got so much power I probably will just stick it on another frame.

That's a good idea to put your 4 stroke on a different bike, it would give you a variety to choose from, some days you might want to zip around & other times you might just want to cruise on the 4 stroke.👍🚴‍♂

One thing I highly recommend for any motorized bike build is using an arch idler chain tensioner AND using two pulleys! The arch idler comes with a pulley, so use the stock pulley as well. Put the lesser quality of the two pulleys on top of the chain to reduce any vertical play as the chain feeds back to the transmission 😉 then the bottom pulley from underneath as normal. Also use spacers to adjust each pulley's lateral position, so that the top pulley feeds the chain centered to the transmission drive gear and the bottom pulley feeds the chain centered to the rear sprocket. I noticed on my Cranbrook that the seatstay tubes go parallel with each other to the seat but the chainstay tubes are angled in. This causes the arch idler to mount at a slight vertical angle, so that's why each pulley, top and bottom, need to each be properly adjusted laterally with spacers! Hopes this helps, let me know if I need to be more specific about anything 👍

This is a great idea 👍👍.. I never thought of doing it that way..I personally use a frame mounted spring tensioner, I prefer that style over the engine mounted ones. I have one on my orange 2-stroke bike & have never had any problems after years of riding it, I've got one for the 4-stroke bike & I'm going to get it on there real soon.. I do love your idea though, especially for a 2-stroke bike where it's really pulling on the bottom side of the chain when you first pop the clutch to get it started.🚴‍♂🚴‍♂
@adamcolbertmusic
@adamcolbertmusic Жыл бұрын
@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes The idea just sort happened... I put the arch tensioner on, then I realized "I have this other pulley wheel, and there's room for it on top of the chain, so why not??" 🙂 Then I realized: the less play in the top part of the chain means the less potential play in the bottom part, and so also the less "hopping around" of slack in the chain overall. You could also put the top pulley even tighter on the chain so that there's always a little extra tension on it, then when you accelerate there's less delay of power transfer when you give it throttle, because the chain will be more taught already. I, personally, haven't experimented with this, because for me it's not important to have quick "racing response"... I just leisurely cruise around.... and I also don't want to put extra wear and tear on the pulleys.... But you could use two pulleys with an arch tensioner to give a tighter response!

Thanks for the video man, since my venture in the motorized bicycle world, i am on my 3rd 2 stroke. Two engines started sucking air and i tried fixing what i thought , but im losing my faith in them. So i just purchased a 4 stroke kit, hoping it will be more reliable without adjusting the carb continiously and all that jazz. lol What are your thoughts on the 4 strokes, will they last years with normal maintence if you treat it right?
@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes 10 ай бұрын
The 4-strokes will way out last the 2-strokes. No adjusting whatsoever other than the idol when you break it in & then you'll probably never need to touch it again. Other than an oil change and an occasional air filter cleaning there really is no maintenance to do to these. You will have to get used to the clutch, they are different than the 2-strokes, they are quite jerky in the beginning during break in time, so take it easy on it when you're taking off, ease into the throttle while you're pedaling. Other than that, you will be way happier with a 4-stroke set up once you get used to it.. 👍👍

@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes 6 ай бұрын
@@motorizedbicyclerider5296 It definitely sounds like that's what's going on here, probably the only thing that needs to be done here would be to adjust the engine mounting bracket, the 4-stroke kits have different adjustments on the mounting plate to help line them up, you should be able to scoot the engine from right to left to fix that problem & be just fine.. Also sometimes you may have to flip over the rear sprocket to get that little extra that helps line up the drive chain too.. How I personaly do it is put the pedal side chain on & make sure it's how it needs to be then adjust the rest as you're building it to make sure the engine drive chain fits in line with it's sprocket.. Then you should be off & riding.. 🚴‍♂🚴‍♂

You'll need a 1 1/2 in. adapter, that's the size that fits bikes with a coaster brake hub. Also when ordering it find out if you need to purchase the sprocket too, or will that adapter fit the stock sprocket that comes with your kit.. If I were you I'd purchase the sprocket too, it has a big center hole & you won't have to do the machine work to make the stock sprocket fit over the bearings grease & dust cap.. 👍👍

I got same set up and bike and the hub adapter already slipped just a tad bit into my spoke so how do you keep it from slipping and yes it's tight and I have a gap in between both sides I wasn't even going fast and then already moved
@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes Жыл бұрын
I feel your frustration. I don't know what brand or manufacturer you got yours from but some of them aren't machined the best & you really have to tighten them down. Sometimes roughing up the inside of the adapter with a rough grit sandpaper helps to give it more grip.. You said you still have a little gap on both sides where it comes together so that tells me it didn't completely close before clamping down on the hub.. You might even have to grind a bit on the flat ends where it comes together to give it a little more squeezing room..

I agree with what you're saying..👍This video is just for the basic build, I'll initially build it standard & take one test ride for a about a mile or so, then I'll bring it back & put on the frame mounted spring idler pulley chain tensioner. I personally do it this way so that when I put the spring tensioner on it the chain has had a little run time to relax & I won't have to move it or readjust it, as the spring tensioner is usually my final step. I choose the frame mounted tensioner because you're right these 4-stroke clutches have that chain jumping like crazy & I discovered the frame mounted tensioners take out 90% of all that chain jumping & helps it run a lot smoother.. I did a video about this not long ago with the before & after effects, the real key to it working the best was putting a stronger spring on the tensioner. Feel free to check it out if you like & if it helps you out with you're chain then that's what this is all about.. 👍

@@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes do you have any chain clearance issues when using the rag joint on the hyper cruiser?
@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes
@EcoTransGaspoweredBikes Жыл бұрын
@@bestvideogamer4560 To be honest I never use the rag joint, I always use the aluminum hub mount & machine out the center hole in the stock sprocket because it won't fit over the wheel bearing cap if you don't. I realize everybody doesn't have the machinery to bore out the center hole of the sprocket, BUT if you buy the Aluminum hub mount and the rear sprocket as a kit off of Amazon or E-Bay the center hole is already big enough to fit over the bearing cap & it gives you the side to side adjustment you need if it's too close to your frame or rear tire... I know nobody wants to spend those extra dollars for those parts but if you do it takes all of that frustration out of assembling that rear sprocket. ( It's well worth the money)..

These things aren't motorcycles they are just motorized bicycles and let's not forget that all these parts are Chinese so there's not a lot of quality here to begin with..
