Talking about my experience using the Bauer Hyperlite 2 chest protector. Also doing on body comparisons with the first Hyperlite and the Mach chestys.

Got the hyperlink 2, really like it. Very light and very flexible. One issue I had, 2nd time I used it the right leather tab that hold the adjustable arm strap ripped off the main body of the chest body. I was in Italy for a tournament so I had to wait until I got back home to get a replacement. The tightness of the arm, which caused it to rip off, helped because I was still able to play with it separate from the chest body. It stay in place and didn't move. When I got the replacement I loosed up the adjustment straps. Haven't had a problem since, arms stay in place with how tight they are.

I went from a 2X Pro to a Mach. Good change. I like the arms the most and the squared off shoulders. I haven’t noticed any mobility issues. I don’t like the back plate straps. Bauer should’ve stayed with the design they had on 2X Pro

Hi, question about the rebounds from the chest. Is this change noticable? I'm currently in Vaughn V8, always have been vaughn chesty guy, but i lack the squarness or bulkines a little bit in them, so im thinking about the HP2, but the big, uncontrolable rebounds are my concern. I get that every chest is different, but how u feel about this? Thanks, fantastic review as always!

As I say in the review, the only rebound issue I had with past Bauer units, was specifically hard shots to the chest plate. Sometimes it would pop off it way too fast to control. This new chest plate on the HL2 does a better job of deadening the pucks hit there. All in all, I’ve had no rebound issues with this unit. I used to be a Vaughn guy myself but switched to Bauer when I tried the 2X. Been using Bauer ever since.

I am really hoping that with how they redesigned the connection point of the arms (fully removable now) that bauer will allow custom orders for ARMS only. I have a retail hyperltie2 and love it, but from previous chest units, the arms are what let go and causes a new purchase. Would be amazing to order new arms and even get them beefed if you need it. or even get the mach arms or older PRO series as some will prefer them. Its a huge advantaged they could gain over other retailers, and some like vaughn are already selling arms only. I was very skeptical of how the arms, around the elbow, has no adjustability and they are rather tight , but the foams are molding to me even after 4 games and most important the arms, for me, stay 100% in place the entire game, where as my hyperlite with ultrasonic arms unit, they slide all over or ride up etc. I am VERY pleased with what they did. I also went down a size and its been working out.

Yeah, I threw out that idea of selling interchangeable arms in the out of the box video. Haven’t really seen it so far, but I think they’d be missing out on an opportunity if they didn’t do that. They’d definitely get extra sales from people who want to try the different arms and what not.

@@L7spider I'd probably get a set of beefed arms and swap them when i need them, I have never needed extra protection in the chest/belly but on older units, v8/v9 and ultrasonic, I have gotten stingers when cracked in the fore arm on a hard shot that gets tipped or what not when I play in higher mens leagues. Being able to swap the arms would be HUGE, i'd 100% order a pair lol Ive taken a couple hard clappers up high off the shoulders in the hyperlite2 and NO issues at all. I also really like the new material on the sternum plant, pucks dont fly off anymore and its super easy to have them drop dead into my glove. very happy so far! and its been awhile I have said that about Bauer lol

I prefer the Mach chest plate ,But I'm using Warrior g5 pro best protection so far and flexibility.But interested in trying the new CCM 6

I would say if you’re someone who is just looking for max mobility and you want a more streamlined look, then I can see going with the original Hyperlite. I liked both the original Hyperlite and the Mach in their own way, and I love how the Hyperlite kind of takes the things I liked about both units and combines them into one.

What is your opinion when it comes to comparing the hyperlite body and mach body? I was thinking hyperlite arms with mach body.

the hyperlite 2 body is far better now then older hyperlite and mach. I always liked the ultrasonic arms/mach arms more but the hyperlite2 arms are crazy good. I have beefed up hyperlite with mach arms and this is on par now.

I would echo what Rob said. Pretty much anything Mach, whether it be arms or body, is gonna be the beefiest/bulkiest of Bauer (as far as stock goes). If you are just looking for absolute max coverage/size Bauer offers, then I could see going with the Mach. The Hyperlite 2 unit does those things better than the first Hyperlite though and at this point is not far off from the Mach but it’s lighter and more mobile. If you prefer the Hyperlite 2 arms, I would say just go with a Hyperlite 2 altogether.

The one that I bought was size small. I tried the medium and the sleeves felt too long. I am 5’10 and weigh 189. Now from watching this video I don’t know if I was suppose to stick with the medium even though the guy at the hockey shop said the small looked right on me.

5’10 is definitely medium. Small only goes up to 5’9. Now sometimes people need different sized arms which requires going custom. So you may be a medium body/small arms in this unit.

Good review. Agree that the hyperlite 1 is the most mobile unit. For me, I honestly feel like the Mach arms are more mobile vs the hyperlite 2… when I bent the hyperlite 2 arms, they didn’t move as easy the hyperlite 1

How did you feel about how tight the arms felt for you on the HL2? I’m wondering if you have thicker arms or whatever, if maybe the fact that you can’t loosen the strapping might be causing some discomfort when trying to bend. The arms on the Hyperlite 1 are more mobile than the 2, but it’s also less protective and smaller. Personally I feel like the arms are more comfortable and mobile on the HL2 than Mach though.

@The Thin Red Line On the Hyperlite 1 I tried I found the arms to be way too tight even when loosened as much as straps could go. Do you find the 2 has more room inside the arms?

@@L7spider Yeah I just meant the hoodie arm feel it has in comparison to chesties that have the elbow cups like the Bauer models. Had the hardest time getting my arm through it and it was an XL. Was wondering if the arms felt like they go on easier even without the adjustability.

@@andrewwilliamson3330 I talked about it in the video. I said it’s kind of hard putting the arms on. Once on it’s fine, but putting it on is a bit annoying.

It’s held up great. 0 issues. The arms are still kind of annoying with their lack adjustability. I think if I were to get another one, I’d switch out the arms to either the Hyperlite 1 or Mach arms.

Yea the backside. These seems very think compared to my ccm chesty.

@@Podiggaa no issues with the backside. Only arm issue that I see is just on the sides of the elbow. Even then, it’s nothing that has bothered me, but the padding there seems kinda skimpy.

Good reviews but they're really slow. Watching them with 2x speed seems like a regular speech speed to me. From a person not speaking English as my primary language.
