A few things to note that I had problems with especially when using an external HD. Make sure you go into the properties of hyperspin, hyperlaunch and pretty much all the exe's for Hypermarquee and turn the administrative options on. I was cracking my brain on why it wasn't working.

any chance of sharing your marquee artwork? :) I only have 900+ high quality. Also I just got my stretched LCD so I will be configuring hypermarquee, the documention is very confusing, your tutorials are a life saver. One more question... is there a way to display a graphic equalizer in the marquee when running a jukebox music app?

Howdy! Yes I have the set that is 900 high quality, then I’ve got some from retrohumanoid I believe, then there are good sets out there but has a ton of junk in them. I’ve filtered out a ton of the junk. I’ll be releasing that media after more subs so stay tuned! That’s a great idea on the eq! I’m sure I can make it work.what app are you using and I’ll configure it to that

Hey, another great vid! Working great. I had a question though... Does the marquee kick up to the marquee space up top on your Arcade machine like in the old school arcades? Where the marquee would go? I heard you mention 2nd screen? I guess it might be some kind of LED display? I play off off of a 65 inch 4k TV and was thinking about buying an LED box to use for the marquees and put it on top of the TV. Do you have any experience with this or think this would work with this EDS system? If you do have experience with a separate LED unit to display the marquees can you suggest one? Thanks for your time!

I have watched your videos , Thanks for making them . Question, Why do you use CLI as your IPC method for HM and LEDBlinky? Also, Why don't you have the HS startup script in your EDS setup? I'm asking because I am having trouble with my setup of HM with EDS and HS startup , Im trying to figure out what the problem is.

Ya you are getting it! In hyper hq, the led blinky path is set to eds. In eds I have hypermarquee, start up script aka multiple program set up txt. Are you saying your eds is not working with the same configurations? Hit me up on discord and I’ll see what’s up. You could have missed pressing the first button and selecting the exe which is a common step missed

i got the HyperMarquee working great , i just have one issue with mp4 Marquee , in my artwork setting i place the path for my mp4 Marquees before the png, gif or jpg one put the png from the previous game stay on top of the mp4 one when i change to a game with a mp4 marquee...anyway to correct that ?

What file? Seems like a mega thing but I think you mean you need a mega account at the very least. But even if you do need a prem account which I’m unaware that you do, everything can’t be for free can It?

@@PlanetGeekdom I had a question about the Vitrolight LCD. I only get a black screen. Desktop is extended and the resolution comes up as 1080p. What is the trick to getting an image of your desktop to show, or anything for that matter. Thanks!

I'm having a really annoying isssue. First off I cant dl any of your mega documents because it always fails at the end so I'm trying to do this from scratch. Ive gotten the marquees to display correctly when I manually "try" them through eds. But when I run hyperspin i get absolutely nothing. Is there something I absolutely need from your files...a script or something. i apreciate it.

i got the HyperMarquee working great, how do I add LEDBlinky to the mix? I tried just pointing it to my LEDBlinky exe and turning it on and it doesnt work correctly.

You need Eds exe pointed to the led blinky path in hyper hq. Then in Ed’s add ledblinky exe and set it up there. If you already did that and it’s tested in Ed’s as working. Be sure to add the ghutch start up script to ensure Ed’s opens with hyperspin.

@@PlanetGeekdom EDs is working in Hyperspin as the Hypermarquee is working just fine, the issue I think I have with LEDBlinky in EDS is I am not sure what to set the parameters to or the open filler, close filler or system filler. LEDBlinky starts with Hyperspin however here are the issues I am seeing 1. the frontend controls do not stay lit 2.as soon as I start a game LEDBlinky re-starts goes through the front end controls and then goes through the game controls and when i exit a game the game controls stay lit. 3. it does not show a preview of the games controls when I scroll through the games. all of this worked when I launched it through HyperHQ.

Finally got around to adding this feature to my setup, but I'm stuck..everything seems to work, other than the image being very pixelated regardless if it's Hiresolution or not. None of my videos play and my marquees keeps displaying on monitor 1, so I have to always drag it to monitor 2 on start up. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Does hypermarquee fill in the left and right sides of a widscreen tv with (vertical) artwork, or is that a different program?

It fills the marquee monitor but I think you are describing the bezels on the left and right side. Those are something different

I was wondering if you could help me out? I have HyperMarquee up and running with LEDBlinky. I have a small issue when I exit out of hyper spin, HyperMarquee is still running and open in my taskbar. So I have to click on it and manually close it. Any ideas why this would be occurring ? Also, I’m trying to use your idea and have a default marquee for each system but the marquee is not showing up while in hyperspin

Yes hypermarquee just needs another instance of it being closed in ghutches start up script if you have a start up script. I believe I have 3 instances to shut down on mine cuz hypermarquee can populate video, png or Jpg in my example. In terms of wheels having all the same marquee you could name the same marquee multiple times with different names

I recently watched your video on setting up Hyper Marquee. I set it up and it works great. The only problem I have now is getting HyperSpeech to work properly. I have it set up in EDS, but the performance is not consistent. I have tried fiddling with the settings but can't seem to get it to work the way it was working before moving to EDS. I am assuming you got it to work as the demo you show at the end of your Hyper Marquee video shows both working together just fine.

That’s right, ya try and use the same settings as I show in the video. Also be sure to get the latest exe for hyperspeech on the emumovies ftp under the dojo folder, hyperspin, zips, hyperspeech. It was tweeked for a few bugs I discovered. It could be that you don’t have the latest file too. Can you be more specific on what isn’t consistent

Ok. I'll watch it again to see what your HyeperSpeech settings are. Specifically, it will not speak the HSGameStart phrases, it will not speak the game names in the wheel after coming out of a game. It also will not speak the HSEnd phrases.

Also, if it does manage to speak the HSGameStart phrases, it no longer speaks the game name I have set as a wildcard in the phrases in the INI file.

Great video! So glad to have this on my machine. Thank you. Although....I have an issue maybe you can help me with! I've been trying to change up the intro video that plays on Hyper Marquee. I've created a different one and made it an .flv video format. In the artwork tab under 3rd Alternate Artwork, I have changed the directory and file name to point to the new video but it doesn't change it upon launching hyper spin with hyper marquee. I also tried to trick it and replace the "unknown.flv" file with my new video also named "unknown.flv. Do you have any suggestions to help me get my video to work? Thanks :)

Convert the .flv file to a gif and name it unknown and it will work. The intro video has to be unknown and gif for some reason

Good afternoon. I've completed the steps you show in the video, i've launched eds and tryed mi config (clicking on try button) , it worked fine (or, at least it shows an image in my 2nd. screen), but, at the end, when i launch my hs, it doesn't show anything on my 2nd screen. I have configured my hyperhq.exe and also my rocketlauncherui. It looks like EDS is not working properly on HS. Any idea of what might be wrong. Glad things are helping! Sounds like you need to make sure eds is in your ghutch start up script. That will launch things with eds open for you if eds is working for you. You are almost there. Feel free to reach out on my discord channel

I've got a weird issue, So I'm using a hotkey in Hyperspin to kill the emulator, so it's consistent any emu I'm running. I noticed when I initiate this, it'll highlight the Marquee vs going back to hyperspin. So I have to mouse click the screen on the frozen hyperspin to continue. However, if I close the emulator through an emulator command, it goes back to hyperspin as it should. Any thoughts? I did uncheck the "keep on top" on the marquee command.

@@PlanetGeekdom I programmed a combo key in RL. Made it easier to back out with controller. Oddly ESC will go back to HS, but the combo goes highlights the marquee.

Great tutorial but I am having issues. When I exit the game, Htperspoin will stop working. If I use the mose to click no the hylerspin screen it will work again. It looks like that when it exits, it taps onto the second screen (the marquee) freezing screen one, and when clicking on to the main screen, it then starts to work. HELP ;)

I'm (pretty) certain my issue is with close filters... when I exit a game HS is no longer the active window and I need to Alt+Tab to HS to get things working as they should. What am I missing? I've tried a bunch of different open/close filter combos but not knowing the software very well, I'm literally guessing. Thanks

To test marquee in eds, you need to type the system name and main menu at the top. Does that help clarify? Also in the video I think I test mame and 1942. Let me know if that helps

Hey I followed your guide.. installed you files and got it working. Thanks for sharing! I do have a question, on transitions on the main wheel, the default mame image flashes before the next selected wheel shows up. Does this also in game selections... anyway to have marquees transition without the slight pause with the default mame marquee?

Great! Ya you can adjust the marquee transition. I believe in hypermarquee there is a tab, 2nd or 3rd on where you can adjust the settings. There are a handful of different options. I’m away from my computer, let me know if this helps! It’s totally doable though

ok so when HS launches EDS does start HM but no default mame marquee shows up so its just a windows background when changing wheels, only if I manually launch HM before starting hyperspin the mame background shows on the transitions... drewjbx sounds like you need to have the start up program in hyperhq set up eds and eds needs to call your start up script. Were you able to complete all the steps from my video

So hyperHQ I have the startup script for joystick control, within that you are saying add EDS (Program_To_Run_Target_1=) Then add program in EDS and point to hyperspin startup script? I will watch your startup script vid and this and make sure I didn't miss any steps. I will be adding RGB LED Blinky soon as CP is finished... more fun ahead!

drewjbx if I had to guess, you need to check two checkboxes in eds that I labeled check here. Once eds has the marquee activated and the start up script activated. Close eds down and open hyperhq and have the start up path to eds. Total guess but feel pretty good about it as you describe it

Hi. I've managed to get Hypermarquee working except for LEDBlinky with the emulator (AAE). Do you have a video showing LEDBlinky setup with EDS? I'm running Hyperspin, AAE emulator and Hypermarquee but can't get LEDBlinky working when in AAE ie coin button lit and then player 1 button or player 2 button once a coin is inserted. cheers

Led blinky is my next project. Since I don’t have led buttons yet(soon to be changing that once I understand what all I need to purchase) I will set this up and do a video. I’m going to purchase my buttons from ultimarc but it’s been a hassle because Andy is avoiding answering my questions. A real shame really. If you are free, I’d love to ask you a question or two with what all I have to purchase to get the gold leaf buttons hooked up. Do I need the cringe connectors and daisy chains or does the gold leaf plug right into the board with no extra wires?

Thanks for the video but it seems like the Mega download has a lot of unwanted files and folders for this setup. I don't want to clutter up my system so I am trying to remove the folders and files that are not needed ie Database etc.. Why were these included?

I’ve since added things to the emumovies ftp. The database stuff is a huge lift for anyone that wants to use hypermarquee with eds. To be honest I don’t even remember what’s on mega. Emumovies ftp is the way to go

I'll have to log in and see what's up, I have not been on their FTP in sometime. I mainly just use Hypersync with it. I was able to get HyperMarquee working with your setup and Hi To Text is working as well but I can't seem to get Hi to run in EDS. It will run when I am using HS and the placement is on the lower monitor. I would like to try and move it to the top monitor. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for this I finally got hypermarquee up and running (except hi score not working). Just 1 problem I’m hopping someone knows how to fix and that is the marquess don’t close. What I mean is every game that’s selected opens a new marquee and the last 1 remains open. The problem is that this eventually bogs down my system when the kids are searching for a game as there is so many hypermarquee instances open?? Anyone know what I did wrong?

Yes in eds you need to match my filters or make sue the numbers on the right include the close game filter number

Folks move to launchbox because they don’t have the technical know how or they want something quick and dirty. Bottom line hyperspin works best in a cabinet and launchbox for the newbie using an htpc

I spent 6 years on several Hyperspin builds with mass integration of Rocketlauncher and support from the likes of masterminds of djvj and other talented programmers. Support and updates for Hyerspin has been over for years with no site of BadBoyBill the Hyperspin creator. It was fun while it lasted but it's done. So many more features on Launchbox alone and adding Rocketlauncher is icing on the cake.

So I’m not sure why you asked for my opinion here. Sounds like you have all that you need. Yes I’ve been I. The scene for more then a decade. I know those names. I have launchbox full member and all. I update it regularly but to say I’d rather be using launchbox wouldn’t be a true statement. It doesn’t work quiet as well on a cabinet. I know you won’t believe me when I say it but it is getting updated, I’ve beta tested parts of it, it’s happening

RocketLauncher is the backend to hyperspin which is also supported in launchbox but it works better if RocketLauncher isn’t used which is part of the problem imo

Use the start up script as well. In hyper hq, use the led blinky path as eds then from eds call the start up script. Be sure to watch both those videos to help

Planet Geekdom I have hypermarquee working flawlessly thanks to you...I’m now working on ledblinky for my led lights...if I’m using hyperhq for EDS how do I point to ledblinky for my led lights?

Ralph C the last thing I want to do is set up led light. So I don’t know 100% but yes you want eds in hyperhq ledblinky path and you will want to put in eds the ledblinky app whatever that is that controls the leds

@@PlanetGeekdom mega would be nice. I just need the tools folder with hypermarquee etc etc. I'm going to configure it and make sure it's perfect before buying a LCD marquee monitor. Why has hyperspin removed it from its main ?

Hi i've tried to follow your video and mirror on my own install without using your provided files. Nothing appears when I try and test by hitting 'try' in eds. Are there any other things included in your files that are working behind the scenes that aren't covered in the video? I wen't back to watch the startup script tutorial as I saw it mentioned in the comments below, am I correct in assuming I need to point to eds or hyper marquee in that startup script? Or should it be getting opened anyway through hyperhq. Bit confused I guess haha. I might just bite the bullet and download your files and see if it will work that way. Also HyperHQ does hang, I find I need to go into task manager and terminate it before reopening it.

Well never mind! It seems I selected the wrong system from the start in hypermarquee not thinking it would make a difference, I've got it working in eds now when hitting 'try'. Thanks for the tutorial you have probably saved two weeks of my life :)

In regards to the startup script stuff though, should I be modifying that to point to hyper marquee? No hyper marquee when running hyperspin at this stage

Ok I worked out the last piece of the puzzle! Not sure if you mentioned it or not but I needed to change the EDS.exe to LEDBlinky. Makes total sense now. Thanks again.
