I got an editor, so if you see Nate or NatePick on Discord or the comments please show him some kindness for his hard work. With him helping me on editing I have more time to dedicate to recording more and working on the website.
I am extremely happy with where my dotfiles and configuration is at. I hope they are a benefit to the community that wants to get into Hyprland. It was people doing what I am doing now that sparked my real appreciation for Linux and put me on a path to learning the ins and outs of Unix. Hopefully even if your not interested in Hyprland you'll find something useful or informative from how I do things.

Hyprland is perfect if you don't use the default config, have an AMD GPU, have way too much free time, use Arch instead of Debian and love keyboards a bit too much. (10/10 WM, would recommend)

It works great on intel and I have a hybrid laptop I use on it, my dotfiles are meant to be a template for people to build off of, but you could easily just use it how I do. I also don't have an unruly amount of keybinds and you can get away with just a few. Now the Debian part, yeah kinda screwed there unless you wanna go sid lol.

@@ZaneyOG I've gotten it to work on Debian 12 just fine but it takes much more effort to do than just using Arch, and honestly and graphics card that's not by Nvidia is way better than anything Nvidia could ever do on Linux

Fair review. I will say that editing your config gets easier the more you do it. Once you customize the key bindings in a way that makes sense for you, you’ll also love the keyboard! I am an arch user I have no rebuttal for that one. I am using a laptop from 2012. With 2 external monitors attached on a 3rd gen i3 . So I don’t need any gpu personally but everybody’s use cases are unique. Cheers.

I really really love using eww (elkowars wacky widgets) as a bar/menu, its such an incredible and easy to learn framework for making custom bars and menus. I'd recommend merging or outright using the tray-3 PR for a systray

It's actually not an obs issues, it's an issue with xdg-desktop-portal I believe. Since the wlr portal has much the same behaviour.

Hyprland was and still is my first REAL experience with WM, i got to say i ran into some problems, but nothing i couldnt figure it out, i was a gnome user, but Hyprland gives me waaay more freedom in terms of packages and customization which i really enjoy, i cant have it all on Hyprland because i use OpenSUSE not Arch, but still a great and solid experience overall!

Love how slick Hyprland is but haven't had any luck getting it, or any Wayland system, working properly on my Nvidia system so far. Guess i3 will have to do until that day.

Hyprland is pretty cool but photoshop through wine is a pain to run on a second monitor, i have a graphics tablet and when i try to open photoshop it refuses to open on the second display every time

Well I don't use a DE. A DE is just a group of programs packaged together with a certain configuration. I essentially make my own. I use a tiling window manager - hyprland, dunst for notifications, tofi as app launcher, waybar for the top panel, etc. Hope that puts the video in better context and have a great day!

@@evvveeeeeeee Well you can always go to my gitlab link in the description of the video and I have all of the files there, in my dotfiles repo/project, that I use. It mentions what programs I use, and also how to setup a fresh Arch install with my entire setup. It is a work in progress and continues to get updated all the time. Go check it out 😉

Yea if Hyprland (and wayland in general) wasn't borderline unusable with NVIDIA cards, yea. I used Hyprland for a couple months but always had to switch to X11 KDE to get work done in Unity.

I love Hyperland but i get it to run on Ubuntu I cant run arch Linux because i get major issues arch For some reason what i dont get white Ubuntu i am running Ubuntu Sway and really loving it

not a tiling wm - dynamic tiling wayland compositor is the correct name

@@ZaneyOG - lol obv not a biggie - I just think that we own it to new Linux users to get the names correct as it might be very confusing with all this talk about DE's - WM's and Compositors - and then several different ones in each category - no wonder they just move back to Win and what they already know ;)

as a ratpoison user, i am either non-human or antediluvian (according to the title) i don't like animations, round corners, transparency etc (= i just want my window manager to show windows.

😄 Title wasn't meant to insult just convey my opinion on hyprland. There is something to be said for simplicity and I have tried ratpoison before. It's very good 😉

No I am not. I am on Arch. I guess I should do a dedicated video on the Gentoo challenge. llvm was causing me a ton of issues on Gentoo. Plus Arch just takes much less time to setup from scratch.
