Motor was done by someone previously. I repaired the harness connectors that were broke with a donor that I have in a stockpile.

@@CarMechaNick it's ok it was meant as one, and it's true. it's an essential service. i recently bought a 2007 sonata with 147,00 miles on it. i,m the third owner, and it's got complete maintanance records from the previous 2 owners which were family members. runs great, little 2.4 4 popper has power, transmission is fine, and i just got the oil changed, and i got it for only $1800. even though its running fine, the engine light came on shortly after the oil change and i noticed a slight, i think it was lifters ticking. first thing i did was take it to oreillys and they scanned it and the printout said i had a 6 cylinder and i needed a new timing belt that cost about $40. then my mechanic cousin said my car dont take belts they take chains and my engine is a 4 cylinder. so i then take it to auto zone for a scan and it came back all i need is an oil control valve. i told the guy there what oriellys said and he said he thinks they forgot to clear the info from the last car they scanned. i'm told the OCV is an easy fix but i better start saving my pennies because it;s due for a new timing chain at 150000 miles.

That's awesome! Most cars can be driven for a long time, just have to keep up on maintenance. Most ppl just think you put gas in and change the oil.

Two guys on customer cars, one guy on recons, and then there is myself. I do the big jobs for most of the stores in my area. So i stay pretty busy on the heavy side. Is that called a long block or a short block? Do both long or short come with the oil pan attached?
@CarMechaNick3 жыл бұрын
I pulled the long block. A short block would not include the cylinder head. Typically when you get a unit from a junk/salvage yard, its a long block that includes the oil pan. Atleast from where we get them. The only one that shouldn't have a pan would be a brand new/remanufactured unit, those typically come bare.
@TheZobi8520z3 жыл бұрын
@@CarMechaNick Thanks! Does the block come with the throttle body or is that just transferred over from the old block?
@CarMechaNick3 жыл бұрын
When we get a reman its bare bones. No oil pan, oil pick up, valve covers, everything has to be swapped. But the junkyard will usually supply intake and such. If your engine blew up, make sure to check intake for debris if you have to reuse your old one. Good luck!

I just had my engine replaced and then shortly after the driver side inner cv axel boot was "torn". The dealership who did the engine replacement said they wouldn't be near the inner boot during replacement. Do you think its possible they could have tore it? The car only has 60k miles on it. Thanks for the video.
@CarMechaNick3 жыл бұрын
So I don't remove the entire assembly, it calls for that process. Which if they followed that process it's possible. But the way I remove just the long block I don't have to mess with the driver axle. I do remove the bracket that holds the passenger side axle to the block. I don't remove the axle, just the bracket.

So after looking at 400 hoses that mostly pertain to emissions... My Stepdad could change a Beetle motor in 15 minutes, and they got 35 mpg or better. For all the progress, I'm still looking for the improvements. He built a 289 Ford pushing 504 HP at 9000 RPM and raced it all season long. That was in 1968 when he was black flagged, "Teched" and cleared. 167.876 MPH lap speed @ Daytona. Modified '67 Shelby GT350. He was the first I knew of to stand on the throttle in the turns. Chevy Guys figured they need to reverse their engine rotation all of a sudden. ;-)
