Love the shout out to Marty and Moog, John. I'm a big fan of the legends. It was a nice shock hearing you mention them. I reckon you should do an interview/collab with them. I'd love to see you do a roast of a completed project or see you helping with the engineering of one.

What a lot of people understand is fun vs fast. The fastest car I ever owned was a 944 s2 but also the most boring. The most fun cars I ever owned were the fiat 124 sports fiat x19 and my gt86. I dont drive the 944 anymore.. so Hats off to Hyundai for bringing fun back to driving...its about the trip not the time...
@geoffmesser5091
@geoffmesser5091 2 жыл бұрын
Gotta agree. Never owned a really fast car though the fastest car I have driven is a V12 Vantage S and I have sat in the passenger seat going bloody fast with a very competent mate behind the wheel. But I reckon I have the most fun in my slightly warmed up ‘71 MGB especially when she is in track day mode with race wheels and A050 rubber. As the old saying goes “it’s more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow”. I have seen a few i30Ns at track days with mile wide grins on the drivers’ faces so, yep, well done Hyundai.

I have driven I20N... Kinda rough on Berlin rocky roads. I like steering wheel position and thickness. And it's not that small car. Also cruising on Autobahn at 150 km/h feels good, not audi A6 good but golf 7 good. It's kinda fuel efficient at 150 km/h, like noticably less than golf GTI. I guess being smaller car and having smaller engine helps. Nice car. But bare in mind I20 have poverty version and it's just bad, that 50 hp engine should not be allowed on roads these days. Might be discontinued but boy that was opel corsa slow

It's sad the quality of Golf interiors has gone the way of Hyundai as well with cheaper crappy plastics everywhere. If this is the future of car design i'll keep my Lexus lol. They put more and more useless distracting big screens in the car. Make everything computer controlled which is just asking for trouble down the road as the car ages and then use the most awful cheap plastics for centre consoles and such. I am baffled anyone sees value for money especially in Australia where everything is overpriced. What the hell happened to soft touch plastics at the very least lol?

Considering they are almost exactly the same car mate whats the point? :) I have had my Stinger TT for 6 months now and worked for a mechanic for 15 years. The boss say's the absolute best car on the road atm is the new Camry Hybrid and the I30 Hyundi. Me personally would go for the Cerato GT if i didnt have my Stinger. Comes down to how it drives and if u like it or not. Interior and exterior differences is all about what does it for u mate. In the end they are all that close performance wise it comes down to personal choice. Going to something like a Stinger oh God yeah no comparison on performance and the smile has not left my face since i got mine. :) Hyundi owns Kia the Genisis Luxury range the G70 is the Kia Stinger on steriods.
@andrewthomas3985
@andrewthomas3985 2 жыл бұрын
@Warshrike I think the similarities is the whole point. I dont want to see a comparison of a stinger and an i20 because we already know the outcome. Ive got a GT Cerato and would like to see how it compares to the 'hot' little hatch which is a few $ more.

Hey mate. Running the i30 N-line DCT (sister car to the Cerato GT essentially) and have just signed off for a new i20N. I test drove the N-line and Cerato GT last year - very similar. Only went for the i30 because the dealership offered a nicer figure than the Kia mob. Love the N-line but i20N is definitely a step up. Driving it in ECO mode is the same as the n-line/GT with a slightly firmer ride and a touch more road noise. Hit some corners, press the N button and it's MUCH more engaging. The LSD makes the front end grab the road like it's life (or yours :) ) depended on it. Now, just gotta sell the N-line because the dealer did the usual low-ball offer.
@warshrike666
@warshrike666 2 жыл бұрын
@@andrewthomas3985 Oh i get you mate i wasn't trying to do that, it is the little differences that make or break a car for me. When looking at my Stinger it was against a WRX STI i made the right choice imo. :)
@warshrike666
@warshrike666 2 жыл бұрын
@@individual1-floridaman491 They have very similar DNA i havn't driven the I30n yet had a couple in at work love the look of it. The Cerato is the baby Stinger and i must admit if i could not have got my Stinger i would have gone the Cerato GT. Kia for me have just hit it out of the park for price and performance there is no comparrison except when talking about their parent company Hyundi then yes the I30's, 40's and 20's are the other option. Comes down to personal drive preference and looks everyone has different tastes. :)

Thanks John. You may have covered this in one of your much earlier videos, but I’m very interested in your driving position as you punt that little Hyundai around WP. It might be the camera angle but you do seem to be sitting quite close to the steering wheel, with your arms well bent. I did some “research” and compared your posture with some footage of race drivers, and found the same thing. I then compared that posture with that of the drivers in some random car ads, and noticed they were generally much further back, with arms much straighter. I’m not sure how tall you are (I’m a victim/survivor of Duck’s Disease myself) so can’t tell whether you’re sitting close in this video so you can easily reach all three pedals or it’s just a good track day posture. What’s best? Rob, from Wheeo.

Dear John, after you mentioned Ford as competitor to Hyundai in case of the Ford Fiesta GTS and the Hyundai i20N, I would like to mention a Gimmick that you can get in any of Ford's modells from the smalest car up to the biggest truck since decades directly at the assembling line installed, that I do miss at all the other cars coming from any other brand: the electric heated windscreen window. Like you I do like the vehicles from Hyundai and Kia, but I can't see how to order this by buying a brand new car at any Kia or Hyundai dealer if I concider having a Golf-class-vehicle (or smaler) like an Hyunday i30 (or smaler). This cleaning the windscreen window from ice or condensating water in an instand after pressing a button at the dash board is essential in areas with defined whether seasons. Get on the phone, call Hyundai, confince them to install that gimmik in their product and I'll right away go to the next Hyundai dealer to order a brand new i20N as a toy for my wife and a brand new Kona 4WD for my tool box trailer. Sincerily, Stefan.

Came to the wrong channel for any dissenting views on Hyundai, along with KIA and Subaru - these are the last three brands they let this guy touch, ipso facto no bad reviews just dumps on every other brand because he can;t drive them.

Hello nice video and try . I been waiting mine now , but I have a question ,can I use N mode before 1000km as long as I drive slow or is better use it after ?
@aygeeninty771
@aygeeninty771 2 жыл бұрын
You can use n mode immediately. Got one of these last week and didn't get any warnings from dealer. You have oil temp readout on dash and it has another engine temp sensor so you can monitor. It's the exhaust flap for sound, throttle response and steering weight that changes only. Don't see any relation to the wear in process of engine.

Turbo Subarus rarely ever but mostly lose headgaskets because of people poorly modifying or not tuning them correctly after modification, the rest are usually because the pcv system has not been maintained or messed with. Early NA EJ25's in the USA had a bad run of graphite coated headgaskets which has pretty much caused this meme. Its not really a problem anywhere else in properly maintained Subarus.

Hey John, it’s a great piece of kit, but would you pay 40% more than a Polo GTi or FiST for one? That appears to be the case in NZ…. It has been reported this week by a NZ motoring mag that Hyundai NZ is launching the i20N @NZ$54000 (+orc) vs ~NZ$40k for Polo or FiST. It also comes with a worst in class 3yr/100k warranty (the Ford and VW are std with 5yrs). Can Hyundai Australia please take over NZ distribution, pretty please 😞

Unless you were only intending on racing it save your money for something decent that will last. 5 year warranty does not mean quality. It's just an illusion of quality. You are already covered by consumer law if NZ is anything similar to OZ anyway so extra years on warranties are meaningless.
@rotoehu9266
@rotoehu9266 2 жыл бұрын
@@DEVILTAZ35 while what you say is in theory true, having been through an experience where a car suffered a major mechanical failure approx 3 months outside of warranty, it is just easier when covered under manufacturers warranty. While in the end the repair was covered by the importer, it was many hours of angst, stress and general BS and then lawyers explaining their obligations under the CGA. If car had been under warranty would have been accepted immediately by dealer and sorted. So imo official warranty is still less stress and more efficient than a CGA claim
