THE SIDE NOTE - Which 3 Row Midsize SUV do you prefer...the Highlander or the Palisade? I have to admit...both are very appealing...and I'm not sure which one I would go with in the end. Let me know what you think!

yeah, Palisade is way superior than the highlander. not only does it have better functionality including infotament system and etc, the exterior look WAYYYYY better than the highlander

Toyota Highlander never come close to Hyundai Palisade. Only for fuel economy people can buy Toyota. Hyundai and Kia making more reliable cars nowadays so don’t restrict yourself that Toyota is the only one very reliable.

Although the Highlander is a great vehicle, there's other SUVs out there worth considering including the Palisade. I prefer the Palisade's corporate-cousin, the Telluride, but the Palisade is a solid vehicle with an excellent interior, a great warranty and is good-looking. At the same time, you certainly can't go wrong factoring in Toyota's penchant for reliability.

This comparison seems to have forgot that Toyota offers the Highlander in a Hybrid, which gets a combined MPG of 36. Way better than the Palisade's 22 MPG. They awarded the fuel economy point to the Highlander anyway, but I think it should have won the powertrain category as well considering the additional available option.

On the interior review you didn’t mention that Apple play is wireless in the Highlander, but not in the Palisades. That made a difference to me.

Not right. Apple play is absolutely wireless in te Palisade.

It’s not wireless. But that really is not worth mentioning. Wired connection is superior and does not drop signal like wireless can and does.

I drive the Toyota Highlander hybrid full options. It is the best car that I had so far in my live. And I have driven lots of Volvo V70 station, Mitsubishi and Opel cars in my life. My gas usage is 15,7 liter at 100 km. And that for this big and heavy car. In Europe we get a 8 years warranty on the car.

Your calculations domt add up for room behind second row. If the leg room is more, than tje Pallisade would jave greater room.

To me the most significant measurement is the five stars for reliability for the Toyota vs. four for the Palisade. There's nothing better than a car that doesn't break down. Although both have good ratings and neither should be really bad, the Highlander ranked better. The one caveat is that the Highlander has a brand new engine with no track record, and a turbocharged one to boot. Just make sure you change the oil on time if you get a turbo.

2007 Tundra: No Issues @ 120,145 miles. 2015 Highlander: new $8,000 tranny after 68,000 miles. Toyota is not as good as they used to be. Always had Toyota vehicles. Rather go for the Palisade or Telluride.

2023 Palisade is better than telluride plus kia always have a mark up and hyundai don't have so yeah did a hard pass on telluride

Hyundai is not a proven long term reliability over 5 years. They cannot touch Toyotas reliability

Hyundai it’s a good while it’s new but not for long term, durability and longevity even not closer to Toyota even its more tech car the toyota. It’s hard do sale this car as Toyota and engine on Hyundai is release a lot of heat, which should be a concern when you buying SUV for 50k….

The new Turbo Engine in the Toyota is enough for me to pass. I don’t like a small engine with a Turbo. There’s no replacement for displacement.

I was a little surprised by this engine change in the Highlander...not saying it's bad but it comes across like a downgrade in overall performance even if it's simply reallocating power from HP to Torque.

@@auto_exclusive I wouldn't call it a downgrade by any means. If you look at the power curve, you can see that the turbo-4 produces a substantially greater amount of torque at lower RPM, which is characteristic of a turbocharged engine. This yields much better performance when accelerating with a full vehicle, or when towing. This means torque on demand instead of having to spool the engine up to find it. It is even more of a benefit when you consider that max torque from Toyota's 2.4T is produced at only 1700rpm, as opposed to the 4700rpm needed for the outgoing 3.5L V6.

The four-cylinder turbo is extremely fast. I just bought a highlander it’s amazing, same power as the six.

Too many horror stories on Hyundai and Kia oil burners with engines shot. Many are not backed by manufacturer.

I don't see the Korean cars having the reliability of the Japanese car. If you plan to hold the car for some time you will soon know the reliability of the Korean car are marginal at best.
