Update for those who are interested: As of 6/10/22, he's hit Gold 2 with Kalista top. Literally, 2 tiers in 4 months. All he really needed to climb was build and role correction from Neace.

I am an otp Kalista and I have to tell you: respect for this guy. He may be in bronze but he really knows this champ, his combo for wave clear is a little clunky but ok. Back in the days I played a lot Kalista in bronze and I remember a lot of games like this! EDIT: Except for the build and runes in other games WTF

its wild that shifting from mid to top was the only thing holding this guy back from this lol. you dont just accidentally stumble onto 10+ cs per minute. he clearly has the basics down to a science. If he remembers this session, he'll easily break gold.

For anyone interested, hes up to silver 2 already, pretty cool. This has me wanting to try Kalista top, I loved the champion, but he's totally right a lot of support players don't know how to play with a Kalista, especially in lower elo.

I absolutely adore Kalista, and it's depressing to constantly hear "she's a garbage champion, don't play her" from most high elo streamers/players. Thank you for giving someone else who loves this champion a chance!

As a plat player I have to say this guy actually has pretty good micro and technique in the jg and wave. Like when he cleared that wolves gromp blue he leashed everything really well for a bronze player. Especially for not being a jg main.

I think that ap cho gath mid with Everfrost is SUPER underrated. It has strong waveclear, insane cc and strong dmg. It also has rly good solokill potentail because ppl disrespect his cc and dmg output.

kaista is the perfect noob elo champ because almost no one picks her almost no one especially melee champ players have no idea how to play against her and her jumping back with every auto drives melee champs completely crazy its the most tilting shit ever

been watching for a long time but never subbed. The background lo-fi you put instead of the game sounds is like watching a whole new video. I love it. It allows me to focus more on your input towards the game rather than hearing all the pings and damage and sound FX. The shift in music made this video 10 fold informative. Subbed for sure now ! I see morde went with the 3 minute gg strat of hard engaging a level down into a gargantuan wave. This guy has at least gold mechanics, no way he should be in bronze

neace brought A LOT of value to this guy in this coaching. If he takes this coaching in, I don't see why he couldn't climb to gold easily

My off-meta pick: Jinx Jungle with Fleet Footwork. Free Tiamat at Lv 1. Since S11, jungle changes made Hailblade/Emberknife give omnivamp, Which means you heal fully from the AoE damage of your rockets. Starting chickens/wolf with no leash. Lv 2 W if you going to clear, you can use it to kite single camps. Lv 2 E if you going for a flank cheese gank like Twitch It's not much more dangerous than playing Twitch/Karth and people underestimate the utility that a 70% slow and 5 seconds of zone control + knockdown Jinx provides. Save chompers for when you absolutely need them. Also, you can Chompers on blast cones so the enemy can't jump to steal objectives and such. You use them to cut someone off. Red Smite into Noonquiver into Runaan's and tanky boots Mercs/Tabis. After this you DEVOUR jungle farm. I like Shieldbow, because combined with Red Smite damage reduction, Last Stand, Fleet's movespeed and not being lower level because you're bot gives you some unexpected 1v1 potential. People underestimate the power of a rank 5 130% free attack speed Pow Pow. You can build Kraken+LDR if you need shred and you can buy both Execs or Serpents if your team needs it. One caveat tho. The whole playstyle is keeping them at max range and becoming juke central. I take Nimbus Cloak and Gathering Storm. But you can make a case for Booties+Biscuits or Bone Plating+Overgrowth/Unflinching. It's safer Highest rank is Silver. So, don't listen to me.

I like the deaths dance call on kalista, I've been rocking this gem pick item on her awhile now it fits so well with how she wins fights.

My favorite off-meta pick is asol support. glacial augment, evenshroud, and from there you can either go standard health-ap items or just tank with frozen heart and abyssal mask.

wait i am confused as to why he got noon quiver over tier two boots. kalistas leap speed and range are based off which boots she has and it makes the attack animation quicker because the leap happens quicker

Great video, however boots are always worth more on Kalista due to her dash range depending on the tier of the boots regardless of move speed.

There’s soooo many people just farming my JGL. No pings, nothing. Just sheer farm. Even when They’re full build, and i’m not, they still just decide to take the farm, so i’m happy that you told your student, to ping.

I know this is old but my favorite off-meta pick would be sunderer wukong top. You get a lot of people in my MMR (high bronze-low gold depending on who I'm queued with) that don't really understand how strong wukong's level 6 is. Once you get tiamat and sunderer you have really good wave control, you have strong utility even if you're behind. Even though he's played mostly in jungle, I feel like he often can't keep up with a lot of the powerfarming junglers that you run into, like Diana or Fiddlesticks, which ends up on it being harder to position properly and still keep up in farm. However, in top lane he's great at farming under tower and you have some great tools to use to outplay opponents in bad matchups or to make some sneaky escapes. He has decent ability to trade into most matchups, and really only struggles against hard-scaling tanks like Ornn and Cho'gath that can survive his all in even if they've been poked down. But even then, he's a pretty safe pick, you just won't be getting super fed but it's unlikely you get steamrolled even if you're getting outscaled eventually. At that point you still have good engage and utility in fights and excel at sticking on and bursting down enemy backline with potential to have 4 knock up hitboxes that do large amounts of damage alongside decent burst damage with your auto q auto and a long range dash in your E to stick on opponents. It's a fun, chill pick for sure.

If this guy puts the things you taught him in his gameplay he will hit gold effortlessly 100%. I can't say that about a ton of your clients. edit: he will probably hit plat eventually IF he applies himself and actively tries to improve. there is no doubt

you need to buy tier two boots before anything on kallista it increases her dash distance empowering her entirety

Honestly i think kalistas boots are pretty important, it might still be worth it to sell them for wits end but i dont know that her boots increase her jump distance which helps her whole kit overall just an observation!

4 months later: He's now a gold 4 player with around a 51% WR in ~550 games mostly playing kalista top, but sometimes mid too

My fav off meta pick rn is zilean top, you beat most ranged and melee matchups and late you become such a utility beast

Kalista mid was one of the champs I played when I first started playing the game. Not that I knew she was supposed to be an ADC lol.

AP Rakan mid with electrocute and everfrost! Early game you can bully with deceptive burst damage, and you become your jungler's best friend because you roam at any time since Rakan isn't CS needy

2 games ago i fought against a Janna Toplane with Smite ... well you can't really say fight because she never came top and had 24 farm at the end when i had over 200. The enemy Jungler Kayn tried to carry but he had no chance 4v5.

Ide love to hear what yall think but I think recently the most off-meta pick I've been playing is maokai Jung. You don't do that much damage but your gankes sre insane expecially with predetor. You will lose early and might get your first buff stolen but that's OK your goal is to early gank as quickly as possible and besides your not missing to much hold early that you can't make up with a gank. You will want to w them immediately because your w tracks flashes so it's guaranteed to get them rooted. You can't be bursted because of your passive healing so it's OK to play recklessly. And if you have 6 you will r first activate predetor then w and time your q with the w cc to knock them into the r root. And that is a total of 3 or 4 sec of cc. This strategy scales pretty well late as well because you will just be a fast Frontline that provides good engage and cc. The items I go are chemtank mobility boots and then just any other tanky speed item that can adapt well to the enemy team.

gnar mid with press the attack and usual bruiser build, can go hexdrinker versus ap, the weakness is bad waveclear but it does good into assassins and still decent into mages with hexdrinker i think. pta helps so you're not reliant on mega, but still good in mega with teammates around to take advantage of pta. - thoughts on a off meta possibility from an iron player

My fave off-meta pick is Neeko supp! She functions like a more mobile Zyra, essentially.

Honestly I have been picking up Reksai mid recently and just used the same build she uses in toplane with electrocute and it works extremely well into melee champs; note I have played into one LB and one Xerath so not sure how it works into ranged. You’re aiming for the earliest kills you can get, she is sort of like an assasin early, and then to transitions into an engage bruiser? Build goes roughen like this; Long sword and pots into dirk, prowlers and defensive boots, depending on your current gold, XP and gamestate, GA, ravenous hydra, Edge of night, black cleaver or good old bramble. The rest is up to you.

it's so strange to hear that kalista has no wave clear. cuz she can get the whole wave with few autos to set up and QE combo (at level5 you kill mages, at level 7-9 you kill whole wave except cannon). ps: my favorite off-meta pick is Tank Diana: grasp-shieldbash(crucial)-revitalize-shieldpower + manaflow-transcendence(crucial). cdr-armor-hp runes. RWQE skill proirity ninja tabi-frostfire-fumblewinter-spiritvisage-sterrak-gargoyle. optional bramble vest for anti-heal. sell later cuz you'll be fighting with your team. proc 3rd strike from passive + grasp + shieldbash from W (and later winter) +frostfire + QE (and even R). this can even one-shot squishies like assassins or adc\support. and severely damage even tank. when you kill stuff you get your W back faster due to transcendence. diana has awful ap ratios on her skills. while her base numbers are quite high. and she is very dangerous even without ap. and people will not know how to play against her cuz usual tank shredders don't work on her that well. you're tanking through re-application of shields :P

Irelia jungle is actually insane, first clear is hardest part due to invade potential but if you can get through that and get a tank you’re golden, she can also do a 5 camp clear pretty efficiently and healthy if you kite properly, not to mention even if you do get punished, you’re irelia cs a little and you’re back in the game, also you can easily solo drag and rift early quickly and if you’re fed early even solo baron very pog

Update about this guy: He climbed to Gold 2 with Kalista top last year thanks to the coaching from Neace at a 53% win rate. This year, he fell back down to silver, and the only change is that he started playing kalista mid again. He’s down to a 36% win rate. It is no coincidence.

I played AP Virus way before it became meta. I realised that his AP scaling on W and R was ridicoulous. I had someone who also showed me a build where you would play Varus bot or mid and rush Hextech Gunblade (when it existed) and after Nashors Tooth and Berserker's as core items. Then after you would go Zhonyas and then you could go many different items like Hurricane, Rabadons, Void Staff, Banshees etc...

Taric Jungle by LightRocket2 been climbing with that and getting fast honors for ganking. mistakes enemy makes is going in to trade kills with the ones i Gank because i can sheild and fast heal them with decent damage making easy trades.

My favourite mid pick is garen midlane. Super easy, scales well, decent wave clear and easy to execute on high ping perfection.

My favorite off meta pick is Thresh top with Grasp! He had more range than most melees, has self peel, insane gank potential post 6. Scales crazy hard with ad because of his e passive, and also gets crazy tanky. Max E, then max W second if you need shield more, or max Q if you want to be a hook bot. Trading pattern is normally grasp auto and either flay away if you want to avoid long trades (vs Camille, etc) or flay in if you want to extend the trade. I go either shieldbow wits into tank, or Sunfire titanic into tank depending on if my team needs more ad or more tank. Super fun

neace is incorrect about removing the boots for wits end on kalista fyi, kalista's hops become very small

If you want play ADC Mid with ton of early-game dmg ,then just play Tristana... There's 0 reason to play Kalista ,when she scales like shit and half of her kit needs Support.

I personally love full lethality hail of blade reksai mid / top she has good enough sustain to last till lvl 3 then majority of the time they overstep and you can just e onto then and all in with ignite and insta kill them while knocked up and then rinse and repeat all lane, and while shoving you can have tunnels everywhere so you can roam constantly and with lethality and q you chunk towers like you're Nasus

Tahm kench ADC (or rather HPC) is my fav off meta pick. He needs a 2v2 lane for his e to be useful and needs gold to be anything more than an r bot. Full sustain runes with dshield, second wind, revitalize and cookies get you through lane and at 6 you can solokill their adc even down 1k gold easily.

Rek'Sai top is so strong, she absolutely dominates most people in top lane between levels 3-12, it's such a strong pick

Idk if you can sell boots on Kalista, her dash range scaled with boot tier specifically, so you lose a lot of kiting and mobility potential if you sell them

i think in the end when he had to just auto shit without care i would use attack command (A) to move since Kalista will attack the nearest ennemi and still jump on the direction where you clicked

Last season i liked kaisa jungle going sheildbow into either wits nashors or colector nashors, though the clear prob not somthing most players can pull off well, bow nerf hurt bad tho as its required to jg kai

So, I'm not sure how viable it really is, but fuck it's god damn fun when people don't expect it. AP Viego. His W has 100% AP scaling, and if you're in a game with friends, it can be so funny when you chunk someone's HP, stun them for the duration of it's CD, and then chunk and stun them again.

The only thing I thing I would say about this lesson that I'm not entirely sure was the comments about boots on Kalista. You opted to go noonQuiver 1st but usually Kali takes boots2 for the efficient AS% and the increase in leap distance tied to her passive. Same thing about selling boots2 for Wits End, not entirely sure if its worth because the hop scaling. Otherwise great tutorial on how to push a lead

Off meta pick: anivia bot. Most supports combining with her q stun is a one shot on the support or adc. Anivia gets safe farm and scaling. At lvl 6 you can push and roam or force the opponent off a exactly frozen wave. Additionally, anivia wall takes flash or sets up kills well. Jungle ganks have twice as much CC.

Favorite off meta pick is Vi mid. Duskblade, cdr boots, essence reaver, collector and just one shot squishies all game with electrocute

Alistar top is amazing, you get gold to build tanky. Trade well at level 3, and even if you get stomped you're still Alistar.

Twitch support ive been smurfing with it if youre really tryna leave low elo try it. I basically stay with my support until level 3 then get the jungler ahead and mid laner it works 90% of the time because of lack of warding in low elo

Coaching session was already worth the money only with the advice to go top. Hopefully the guy understands going top is a much better option.

Just a question. Why is it better to have Wit's End than boots on Kalista? Her passive jump scales off boot tier so her jumps would be extremely bad if she didn't even have tier 1 boots? Does the extra attack speed make up for the short jumps?

Kalista is one of my favorites to play, she is difficult compared to the others and clunky if you don't play her right but I can't ever pick her because every time I do my sup grabs yuumi or some garbage.

Can’t recall). Is that like sound logic or viable at all or just simply the wrong move?

I'm an otp kalista around d4 elo and ive faced multiple master and GM in midlane and eventhought maxing Q gives a nice waveclear kalista doesnt have much of a roaming potential and I would often get outroamed. lane is just too short for a kalista

i'm an Ahri main and i sometimes play her sup. Witch Everfrost u have a hole lot of cc and she is super good at getting Picks

why is he jumping around when he doesnt need to he atacks a bit slower when jumping so why take risk at loosing minions ? im bronze 4 very important so tehy know i dont know anything xd. 25:18 kalistas passive doestn allow you to cancel autos thats also the reasonb i myself dont play her botlane since they can just stand in teh minions and get free poke when i wanna last hit
