Would be better if this video was release on Ilayaraja's B'day instead of ARR. Interviewee has done very little research on how ARR got onboarded to Roja. He says as if ARR went and asked for chance to Mani Ratnam. Please see the video from Kavithalaya for more details. And funny on how he explains how Hollywood works in Music Direction. ARR got hindi chance due to Rangeela, directed by RGV(A South Indian) and then he got hollywood exposure through Sekhar Kapur(A Hindi director) and it was Bombay dreams. And he did not and ask for chance. A very mis-leading interview. IR is great and one of the finesh Music Director India has every produced and Interviewee is a hard-core fan. But that doesnt mean that you should be-little ARR for his achievements saying that IR has already done that. Whatever awards he got was through promotion. I had respect for Vishan but i doubt he does any proper research before any interviews. Better luck next time.

This is predominantly to eulogise the 1976 dubutant than ARR, in a deferent way. We have live through pre 1976, therefore we were well well aware of the history. Of course the 1976 dubutant and his brothers obsequious to Panchu & co to get Annakkili chance,and continued to be so for early years until estabilished. He changed his colour only in early 80's after becoming most sought MD. So being arrogant came from continued success. This is called opportunism. Not by nature. If he was arrongont then he wouldn't have got his first opportunity from Panchu. MSV has done incredible music than the latters,by making do with then awailablety, as against his successors at their disposals. If MSV was born & raised as Tamil, the recognition for his music would have been looked at differently. By the way he has done lot of chorus even in the early 60's. G.K Vengatesh was his assistant since 1952 -1962. MSV was the one who introduced Panchu as lyricist in 1966( Ponnezh Pooththathu). While all the MD deam to do at least one film for MGR, MSV has done almost 60 of his 136. Even Shanngar Ganesh did 2 films 1972. Furthermore A K dubutant was doing only small budget films & for then upcoming artists as himself. MSV remained formidable till 1982. But the arrival of Roja, changed completely 10 year dominance, we have seen through this phase, not referring to history. Again Roja songs are much greater songs than average 80's, this is looked only on its merit, not by virue of his modesty. There are many , songs of Kaathalar Dinam. We are people from Jaffna, praise only good songs.

KVM, MSV, ARR, and some other Geniuses in Indian film music. But Raaja Sir is the genius of genius. Hence Maestro title given to him by symphony orchestra. He is incomparable. Many composers gave good tunes. But Raaja stands above all by his brilliant orchestration & BGM score. He is the only Indian composer giving music notation to the whole song. Raaja Sir is the only Indian composer who can say this is my music (99% of his songs). because he only teaches keyboardist, guitarist, drummer, tabla player etc how to play for each song. But other composers tell tabla, tavil, bongo players to play on their own style. Hence Raaja Sir is the only complete musician in the world (by no of songs). As per this title(ARR birthday special) ARR should be praised and he should not be degraded. He is also the genius Indian composer in computer programmed music.

Few more to add, when Roja1992 released, that outdid the then 10 year dominance of AK debutant,& ARR making his debut with big banner unlike the former.All the songs of Roja very situational,especially Puthu V, which gives the ambience felt,also something terrible thing is imminent.This is called cineMusic,that's why it is distinguished over the average 80's stereotyped songs. Thus he continued to grab big banners. 80's songs mostly pretend copied from other existing good songs recorded in the cassette, undermining the situation, in take it or leave it terms. It worked for sometimes until Roja. ARR continued his quality, while his predecessor survived by his loyal producers , Deva had big chunk of films,Vidysagar others around. Vividly remember Annakkili DIDN'T make any impact in our taste of music, as it was just one of those, but Nalai Namathe 1975 continued sensations in Jaffna for many years, as AK went unnoticed. But media in TN deliberately & other well wishers of his boasts, he is the preeminent in music. NO NO NO, There is no denying he is one of the good music directors. But certainly NOT the only one, as Tamil/Indian cinema has seen many greats, unfortunately not many of whom remembered for what they have contributed on the merits of their creativity. It's impertinent.
