just remember, hardcore isn't for everyone. if you find yourself struggling, or being stressed out, you don't have to play. personally i tried doing hardcore many times but i just felt so stressed out because of the fact that i couldn't die, so i made a regular survival world and feel much better about myself. tldr; you don't have to play hardcore, it isn't for everyone

Make it a high priority to get a totem of undying early in the game and glue it your off-hand for stress relief and as a bold fashion statement. Then try to avoid dem heroin chic encounters until you have GUCCI armor and don't need a shield. For potential lava situations, bring at least 2 fire res potions and always keep a bucket of Evian (or Mountain Valley Spring Water) in your inventory. Hardcore might not be for everyone, but I find it way more satisfying. I'd say you're much less likely to get bored with your world.

lava tip : a none dangerous way to farm lava, if you place a drip stone block with drip stone on it above a cauldron, once you have that set up place the lava on top of the drip stone and seal off the lava. this way you get infinite lava in the cauldron.

Infinitely slow! :p But yeah. I've set up like 20 of these and exclusively use lava as furnace fuel. I just wish Minecraft would allow a dispenser to pick it up and send it to the smelting complex. That'd be something.. Fully automatic and sustainable.

This is peak emergent gameplay. Moments like that sand wall collapsing to reveal a wall of lava, and the one when Kurtis finally reaches the surface after hours spent underground, nearly dying, they're the best kind of player-made stories.
