Күн бұрынI never said Van Life is easy! In fact, this has been the worst month of my life in van life, and I almost quit traveling in the van until this one BIG SNAFU changed all of my plans. These are my struggles living in a van and traveling full time, as a solo female van lifer, and I hope these can be lessons learned for you all as well if you're thinking of traveling full-time. Carvana totally screwed me over when I tried to purchase an AWD vehicle from them. Bait and Switch!!!

It's probably not your intent, but I am following your adventures vicariously because I am getting too old to do it myself (I turn 80 in a few weeks). You and your fellow vloggers make a significant contribution to my mental health. I assume that if I were doing what you are doing, it would be even better. KZfaq has opened many of our lives to what otherwise would have been impossible to experience. That said, my wife of 53 years and I will get in our Forester later in the summer so we can breath in the ocean and/or mountain air, much of which will be driven by your story. Thank you.

As a woman camping alone, I prefer being in a van over a trailer because if there's a creep in the campground during the night, I can just get out of bed and drive away without having to go outside. Such beautiful pictures of your trip!

Throughout my almost 56 years (I turn 56 on August 24th) of life, I have learned to have a "Master Plan" with at least three other backup plans. Life is interesting, but it's also loaded with twists and turns and ups and downs. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, but also that everything has a way of working out. I'm sorry about your friend and her husband, and I'm glad Lily is OK. Keep your chin up, and keep on smiling. BIG HUGS.

Amber, my heart breaks for you. Losing a friend through such violence can be devastating. Take time to cherish the memories of your friend and grieve. I hope Lily continues to improve and has no more of those horrible episodes. Our furbabies are so important in our lives. Enjoy the ocean. I always find it therapeutic. Even though you had a terrible month, you managed to turn it into a wonderful video. You are so genuine, which is why we all love you. I firmly believe that God sends you the people you need when you need them. I was honored to be your person through Lily’s illness. We even managed to squeeze in some fun and great conversation.

Perhaps it takes one to know one and is possibly why I've been so drawn to and inspired by your channel and videos. I rarely ever comment on these videos but Amber, your sincerity and openness is such a heart warming thing. I watch your videos from beginning to end, they are very well done. I am so sorry that you have had such a tough month. I recently lost my mom but in the last year and a half of her life we talked about how I was going to buy an RV and travel after my time with her was over. (Side note: She said she'd support me if I would named the van after her.... so, The FranVan and I are going to be having a great time out there on the road.) My mom loved to travel as well. I could occasionally get her to get in the car and we'd just drive through a park or down to the water to eat dinner in the car. I know that it will not be all rainbows and butterflies when I finally get to depart but I've learned a lot from you and what to expect. I just want to thank you for all you give us through social media. You have been good for my soul, even with all the ups and downs...you're real and I appreciate that very much.

Amber, You are the person who inspired me to take the step towards van life. I am a 55 yr old single female with a dog so I feel like you are very relatable. I completely enjoy all of your videos as they tell the real life experience. I know you have a strong background in believing that the world is still working in your favor even when it throws you some weird situations. In the end those weird situations are teaching moments on where you should be heading. You are strong, you are resilient, you are able to see the direction life is taking you. You have done amazing work. You actually were one of the reasons I had the guts to travel across the US in my travel trailer after covid. Well a big loyal smart dog also helped, but you get the point. So never underestimate the impact you had on peoples lives. If I told anyone outside my network what I experienced in the last two years what I went through, people would seriously think I was nuts. You're a tough , resourceful smart lady with a mean excel workbook. Be proud and put those boots on and move forward with pride. : )

I'm amazed at your resilience and tenacity, always seeking a solution, never giving up. You might see giving in to your sadness, frustration, and weariness at times as being weak, but we see otherwise. Oh, Amber, I’m so sorry to hear about your childhood friend. So, so sad! And poor Lily! I hope she gets back to her sweet self real soon. I know what it’s like to have a sick fur baby, especially since they can’t tell you what’s going on with them😢 Speaking of the extreme temps this summer, I feel so bad for the folks out west that are experiencing this extremely hot summer and drought conditions. And yet other states like Kentucky are experiencing tragic flooding. I’m praying that the weather will even out a little bit and the temps come down and the rains come soon for the dry parts of the country🙏🏼🙏🏼

Amber, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and it sounds as though you have had a rough time of late, but I am at least so relieved to hear that your lovely little doggy has made a great recovery. Despite how many times you have been knocked down you always dust yourself off and get back up again because you are one of life's fighters. It is clear from your vlogs that you are a good person, and I believe that good things come to good people (sometimes it takes time so hang in there).

I'm so sorry for all you've been through I just had a big breakdown with my kids today and gave them both the big what for!! The energies and life we deal with today are so compounding that you just finally lose it. I'm glad Lily is doing okay our fur babies are the most comforting in these times!!

Hi Amber i'm new to your channel.I'm sorry for all the mishaps you and Lilly are going through and the lost of your friend. Your not alone as alot of people are going through problems in daily life. Sometimes when your overwhelmed with issues in life.You just need to relax and breathe and get your focus back. Your doing the most exciting adventure traveling around in your van and seeing new areas which most people would love to do but can't. Amber, I am so sorry you’ve had such a rough time lately! So glad sweet Lilly is okay now! I started crying when you started talking about her because I was afraid she wasn’t here anymore. I almost lost my Daisy a few mths ago. She fell off the bed & hit her head. She immediately started having a seizure. She survived but it was a scary time. I know you were terrified! Daisy suffers from pancreatitis too. She has a flare up once or twice a year. Words cannot express how sorry I am about your best friend & her husband with their dogs! Can’t imagine everything you’ve been going through! Glad you had good friends to be there for you! I remember that Born Free video. Didn’t you meet Cathy at the Cracker Barrel in Savannah? Stinks about Carvana! I’m ready to buy a new car but so hate the thought of even going to talk to a sales person! The majority of them probably pull the ole bait & switch! My sister and her husband have bought from car max for years and a few cars. They have always had a favorable, honest and straight up good experience with them. They will buy from them again. When it comes time for me to get a new car I will use them too

Amber, first off, my condolences to you and your friend’s family. Such a tragic and sad ending to their life. I’m so glad you’re reaching out to people that can help you with grieving the loss as well as all the changes happening in your life at this time. Don’t give up! I absolutely adore this channel and your travels however, I adore your heart and positive outlook even more. Seattle has been super hot. I just got back home from Montana, and the weather is oddly hot. Glad you’re by the seaside and getting fresh air in California. I’m glad to hear Lily is much better. I want to acknowledge you for standing up at the dealership and not letting the talk you into buying a car even if it wasn’t what you wanted. You taught me a huge lesson here, and I thank you for that lesson. Sending you sweet hugs as you sort out next steps and healing your heart. Sending you love - I can relate as I am learning how to find joy again after coming off the worst year and a bit of my life. You are strong and its ok to cry and be emotional. Helps us to face the pain to heal. With Lilly, I had a schnauzer who had the same thing. Random bouts of pancreatitis. Could never pinpoint the cause. Almost lost him many times. After a middle of the night emergency visit to save my boy, the vet figured out it was the protein intake. I switched to the lowest protein food I could find which was an Iams food. Fed him 3x a day - smaller amounts helped him process easily the protein. His bouts stopped! We had been through probably 6 or 7 vets from my regular vet to many emergency vets. Learn how to give subq fluids too. You can travel w a bag and some needles to give her fluids if needed. Its super easy. You are stronger than you think. Sending you both love and healing energy.

Oh Amber I’m so sorry you have had such a sad time of it. I’m so glad that Lilly pulled through. Life can’t always be easy but it would be nice to catch a break. Stay strong and safe on the road. Amber, you have had quite a month! So glad Lily recovered! Sit by the ocean and just breathe! On another note, we have used Carvana to both sell a car and buy a car with absolutely no problems. They have a seven day no questions return policy. I believe in this case, someone made an error in the write up. Whenever you purchase used vehicles, the first drive should be to a reputable mechanic for a full check up. The mechanic would have immediately told you it was not all wheel drive and you could have returned it. Mistakes were definitely made by them, but probably compounded by you immediately leaving the area.

As soon as I saw Caravan at the very beginning; I thought, "Oh! No!" Caravan has terrible reviews and there are so many horror stories with this company. My nephew had a really bad experience with Carvana when he bought a truck from them about five years ago. The truck had massive mechanical problems. The transmission was bad and it had other mechanical issues as well. They would not pay for repairs. He had a bill of over $4000 to repair the truck. I am so sorry you went through that with Carvana. Then to hear about your friend. A death is hard enough; but, when there is violence or trauma involved with a death; it is so much harder. Then your dog becoming so ill. You certainly had a tough month. I hope and pray your life smooths out and you go into brighter and happier times.

Prayers that things will lookup for you and Lily. I know how hard it can be as a full timer. I have days that I too wonder why I did this. But as you said in your video suddenly there’s so much beauty around us that we realize why we love being full-time on the road. Wow, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, that's heartbreaking news. I'm glad Lilly is doing better! I met Tim and Kim at a campout last fall and Kim and I met up at a local Harvest Host Winery for a girls' trip - they are super nice people! I bought a car through Carvana back in 2018, it was a 1 yr old low mileage Nissan Leaf, the only issue I had was that its navigation and dash info system required a specific sim card that comes with the car and for some reason, it had been removed (not having it affects the data you get about the car) it's actually coded to the vehicle - so I had to force them to cover the cost of getting it replaced. Thankfully they did. I've also sold cars to them, when my parents could no longer drive it was easier to sell to them. When we bought a new car we actually got a better offer on our old one than we did from the dealer. I also sold the Leaf back to them and the money I got for it went towards my van. However, I have been seeing more and more stories of issues with cars they are selling and some states even having to intervene. Not sure if they grew too fast and are getting sloppy or if they have always been like this and it's catching up to them. It's too bad, conceptually it's a better way of buying a car than dealing with car dealers, but it really requires that the company be honest in every aspect of the business and sadly that doesn't seem to be the case.

I love their business model and for me traveling full-time, it's great that they will register the car for you in your home state even if you weren't in that state to purchase it.

My heart goes out to you, especially losing your friend in that way. So glad Lilly is good. This severe life threatening gastritis and pancreatitis happens with our 4 yr old dog so I’m sharing this. I was always convinced it was an allergy of some kind so I had the vet retest for allergies including gluten. Turns out our dog isn’t allergic to gluten but to an enzyme within gluten so the smallest amount makes him sick. Hope life settles down for you.

Oh Amber so so sorry for your friends horrible death, I found out recently one of my friends & coworker was missing in FL they found her body she had been murdered, they have arrested an ex boyfriend! And then sweet Lily (that is so scary when they are in pain) I lost my Lily in Jan (best travel buddy) Carvana how shameful. Guess they don't realize what a huge following you have. Your videos are not sugar coated and you are human & bad things happen and your real. I love you for that & all your videos. Thank you

Wow. That certainly explains your absence, and I and probably many feared it was for bad reasons. I'm really glad you found a happy place to end this video, and thank God Lilly is ok. As for Carvana, here in Tampa, they have been on the news regularly for selling cars they end up having no title to. The news reports say its a prolific problem with Carvana across the US. The owners are sent home, with the promise of a title or paperwork that never comes, so they can't drive their vehicle because they can't get a license for it. At one point I believe, either Florida and/or attorneys general of other states have pulled their license to sell in the state. STAY AWAY from Carvana. PL4M EXTRA well.
