That's not how it works, unfortunately. What will happen more likely (provided SidAlpha's defense is as strong as he thinks it is) is the case will be tossed, and there's a possibility that SidAlpha will be rewarded attorney fees. Jail time or fines are almost never on the table for civil lawsuits. About the only way you can get jail time in a civil case is to catch a contempt of court charge, and you have to really work to get one of those, generally by defying the judge's orders or acting disrespectful to the court during the trial phase.

Defamation can only be proven if what is said can be confirmed as financially damaging to the other party. Which is notoriously hard to prove, even with evidence. That means this dude had to spread blatantly untrue things about the fat guy where it caused him to lose out on contracts, sponsorships, jobs, or actual revenue. Like, let's say the fat guy was monetized on KZfaq and this dude making the video made up stuff about him. KZfaq catches wind of it and on that criteria alone demonetizes him. THAT would be defamation. But, you need to PROVE it. So you would need to get KZfaq/Google to admit that they demonetized the fat on based of the lies of ONE PERSON. Which would make KZfaq/Google look bad. So even if true, they would never admit it. That's how uphill proving defamation is in the United States.

Any lawyer that allows him to put "because duh" in his statement to the courts does NOT have AT's best interests at heart. If I was a judge reading a defendant's statement explaining the defendant's interpretation of the law, and the defendant used the words "because duh", I would be highly insulted and possibly find him in contempt for his derogatory belief that the defendant knows the law better than the courts do.
