LOL, you are gonna have fun putting the shop together. Thousands of nuts and bolts. You'll need to pour footings out here in BC. The engineers want 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. It is for mass to hold the building down. Then prep for the slab between the footers. I'd go with 6 inch thick floor. I'd also consider footings in the floor for a possible 2 or 4 post lift. You never know you may want one. Yes, go with radiant heat in the floor. Once the slab is warm, the shop will stay warm. The building will need to be spray foamed so you don't get the drippys. The steel buildings like to sweat, then it rains on the inside. Out here, steel buildings are cheaper than stick building a shop. When you do put the shop together, get a man lift (boom) for outside and inside a scissor man lift.

Each time we moved to a new larger shop we always made a cardboard cutout of the building and all the equipment to see how things fit. It's much easier to move cardboard around than the 8 or 12 ton pieces of machinery.

I`d keep your shop to the front of the lot and put it on a 45 degree angle with your main entrance. Then you can gate it off to your building, have a small area just inside the door for people to pay for product and keep all your investment's safe inside. Then on the other side of the shop where the bank is you could pour a slab wider than your building with a over hang coming off the building to keep all your attachments in a nice tidy area out of the weather. Go big or go home!

Very nice. I have noticed that you handle a multitude of things very well. Gear, people, customers, all that stuff that goes with running a business. Maybe get yourself a little detail/ wash bay added on. Supply some of the upgrades you really like.

Hey will the garage doors be a drive thru ❓ ya know come in the back and drive straight thru out the front. Reason I’m asking: place your shop where you have a roundabout for your trucks coming in and out thru your shop. I don’t know if that makes sense to ya I hope it did. Ok well CONGRATULATIONS 🍾 on your shop and you Deserve it as well 👍🏻👍🏻🤘🏻 🇺🇸Friend From Georgia 🇺🇸

Going to be great to have a nice shop. Will be great for working on equipment in the rain or cold. The gravel is a must to keep your sanity, as well as your equipment less muddy. Take care my friend.

Awesome, congrats! I’d definitely put it on the side, length wise parallel to the driveway where the 350 was sitting. Add a road around back of it to swing the trucks and trailers around the building so you can still turn around like you used to 🎉

Congrats on shop. Y, the stone looks better than the mud. Some questions about shop: (1) where put tools? along side wall, along front behind office etc?; My neighbor w land clearing business has a box truck he keeps all his tools in so it can go to work sites; my other neighbor farmer w lots of tilling, planting, spraying, harvesting equipment has a pickup with the tool boxes on both sides of the bed and that also goes to where the problem is; (2) do you have a mechanic or are you all just handy and do what you can?; (3) maybe plan for when you have one big piece of equipment in the shop with upgrade or maintenance in-process and you want/need to pull another in for some reason; (4) how do you keep the trucks clean with the road salt - maybe add a place with a pad and a good drainage system where you can powerwash them off periodically; also easily powerwash the excavators and skidsteers; when I lived up north where they salted the roads, I was religious about taking my vehicle through the car wash whenever the temps went above freezing; (5) my relative was an ex-military diesel mechanic who liked to work on old buses and trucks - when he built his house, the full basement was his shop, and he had a place to drive them inside there and had a long pit built under them so he could service from the bottom without putting up on lift; (6) maybe 2 bay doors on back and 1 on front?; (7) Security!; (8) the other comment with a "45-degree" angle near gate had a good point. Sorry if some of these aren't relevant.

No condensation issue if you have the inside lined with felt or insulated. If not then you get condensation drips which are really annoying

Just a heads-up.. Those sales guys get people all the time with the "this guy couldn't take delivery" scheme... they're built to standard sizes so if you wanted larger (the 4') it could easily be added for minimal extra cost.... the sales guys make it sound like your getting a deal to make a sale... priced a couple buildings out a few years ago and the line was the same from all 3 different manufacturers. Still a good building to have, though.

Well it was $25,000 less for a few less feet and no freight charge so I took it.

Sounds like a good plan and an awesome Idea , hummm daft question is it going to be your own shop ? And another possibly daft question scince I Didn't clearly Hear You Mentioning It In The Video about if its going to be your own shop or if its for a contract for someone else's shop - What type of shop is is going to be ( building materials for jobs ? ) or more like ( a garage for diy personal vehicle / truck maintenance ? ) Or multiple purposes a mixture of both ? Either way best regards and have fun . ...Oh and by the way you did an excellent job spreading out that gravel 10 / 10 💪

how did you decide when to buy a second truck, get a piece of equipment, and employees etc? I grapple with this every year and ultimately just keep saving cash and mcgyver my way through jobs or borrow equipment when needed. However I think it holds back my revenue potential a bit.

Awesome job on getting the new bldg. Also why do you use gravel rather then reclaimed asphalt and are you going to pave the entrence and parking areas once the bldg is put into place or leave it gravelly like it is?
