If EU and American organizations chose not to fund NGOs because of the disclosure laws, its because they are violating international law of not interfering into foreign countries. For example, if a Russian organization wanted to fund a Georgian NGO, they would be forced to disclose it!!!

@@festekj Except a Russian organization wouldn't disclose it because they have no qualms about sending black money into the country to fund it 'locally' - and the government introduced a law in parallel on offshore funding precisely to enable them to do that.

@@Redpilled66 the distance between Iran and Georgia is similar to the distance between Georgia and Bulgaria. Iran being close only meant more wars with Iran , we don't have experience of cooperating with Iran (unlike Russia) and we do have a long history of cooperation with Europe, starting from ancient Greece. So keep your simplistic mentality to yourself.

Joining the EU would be a disaster for Georgia. This law is just normal, they have the same law in the USA. It protects Georgia against foreign influence, *including* from Russia. This president is just a puppet of the EU. Joining the EU will see proud Georgians lose their democracy and be ruled by a foreign unelected power in Brussels. When Georgians wake up to what the EU is, they will be burning those EU flags they like to wave around. These protesters many of them are planted there by the EU and it's opinion buying money all over the media - it always does this.

its not EU "expansion" if countries apply to join. Russia is not a european country btw. Take a look at a map, most of Russia's enormous land mass lies in Asia. Also, European countries are democratic, whereas in Russia, political opponents end up dead or in Prison. This is part of the reason why Georgians dont want to be aligned with Russia and why Ukraine is fighting Russia.

Europe and the EU is made up of open, democratic, free market countries, who coexist and trade with and support each other. Russia has chosen to NOT do any of those things, thus isolating itself from Europe and aligning more with countries like Iran, China and North Korea. Its sad that the people of Russia have no say in any of this. Anyway, thanks for talking.

I've lived in Georgia and travelled about a lot. Your statement surprised me - and it took less than two minutes of reasearch to confirm that your statement is untrue. Georgians might have a mixture of DNA but they are most certainly Europeans.
