Ireland’s anti-immigration backlash has spiralled into country-wide unrest in recent months after a sharp rise in the number of foreigners arriving onto its shores. Protests, arson attacks and hardening anti-immigration views have transfused Irish politics with a fervour not seen since the Troubles.
Freelance journalist Michael Murphy went to Ireland for the Telegraph to find out what Irish people make of the growing strife.

Something is definitely not adding up. I'm in Vancouver Canada and it's 100X worse than Ireland. We've never built more than 200K homes in a year and yet we have an immigration mandate of 500K new immigrants per year. It's caused a decay within our society with outrageous housing costs, higher addiction rates, more crime, greater mental health problems, and more random acts of violence. Immigration only works when it benefits the country, not destroys it.

The 500k immigrants which the Canadian government plan to accept are legal migrants, who are mostly coming as higher education students or skilled workers. These immigrants are usually from Britain,Indian, Nigeria, etc, of which each of these immigrants pay visa fees or tuition which goes in the tens of thousands of dollars. Now my question is this, if these legal migrants pay all these fees and follow all legal procedures, how is it their fault that the government isn't using the revenue generated from them to expand infrastructure?

Most of these people do not stay in my state, however. Florida doesn't allow undocumented people to get work or driver license. I feel sorry for what is happening in Ireland, this is a beautiful country and people are very friendly. But that said it is not like a housing crisis started 3-4 years ago. I have been living in Ireland on-off for 10 years since 2005 and I have seen it first hand - it was always difficult to find a decent accommodation for a good price.

The uk election in 2029 is the most important one for decades The UK public will crave a sensible strong right wing party to right the wrongs of the last 20 years And re Anglocise the UK It can certainly be done though almost certainly without (unfortunately some violent) pushback But yer future as an island will depend on getting that right wing party in situ in 5 years time Reforms net zero immigration is still way too tame

Im Polish living in Ireland. I came to this country nearly 20yrs ago. I came here not because I was running away from the war, not because the poverty, not because any kind of oppression in my country. I came to Ireland because I was fascinated by reading about Ireland since I was a teenager. I supposed to stay here 2 months but I fall in love in this country and now I consider Ireland my second home. So I live here long enough to feel and experience a real life in this country, with its ups and downs, positive and negative sides. And I must say that still majority of my experience was positive. I was working here, paying my taxes, renting the houses, spending my money for living costs etc. But when I got ill and wasn’t able to work I experienced such a support from the government that I’m so grateful for🙏🏻 Now, I’m working and through my job helping Irish people (and of course not only) with their health. I contributed to this country my knowledge, heart and love. I also love my first home - Poland. And I love Polish people living here with me. I know that many of them came here to work, save the money and go back to Poland. Others as myself, blended inn and live normal live with their families, working, studying, and becoming part of this country. And it’s because they feel here welcomed and safe. So, please, to those, who are frustrated and scared for this country, don’t make a mistake, and don’t blame Polish for the situation about immigrants. We are not ONE OF THEM. And in Poland we are also against this propaganda. Remember this🙏🏻

The thing is alot of Ukrainians were raised around kindness and motivation and they don't as oftently turn to crime but instead baking and other things and quickly turn over and become self sustaining unlike other groups who push around guides on how to take advantage of countries social services but I work with alot of Ukrainians in Canada and they feel so guilty for being here they don't wanna take advantage and they want to be home @@jimmypixxel
